Aaron Gwin is a hungry man. A win here could very well bring confidence into the off season as 2020 rolls in.

USA Cycling has announced the full lineup for their 2021 National Downhill Series.

This year the USA National DH series will consist of three events starting with the Tennessee National in March before heading to the Mountain Creek Spring National in May and closing the season out at the US Open in September. USA Cycling says the schedule is dependant on the state of the pandemic but, it could be expanded if conditions improve.

A new feature for the series this year is the inclusion of tracked individual rider results for both Elite and Junior ( 17-18 ) categories with series champions crowned at the end of the year.

bigquotesWe are optimistic and excited to return to racing at this year’s National DH Series after the cancellation of many 2020 races. With the challenges COVID-19 has created for event organizers, we are appreciative to currently have three great events back on the calendar and expect to expand in 2022 when things return to normal. Tara McCarthy, USA Cycling Director of National Events

Race Schedule:

Tennessee National: 11 - 13 March
Mountain Creek Spring National: 28 - 30 May
The Fox US Open of Mountain Biking: 25 - 26 September

 Winter Park has National Champs in July if it goes.

 You beat me to this comment Smile

 @vetprowanab: Colorado is becoming the new California, but fingers crossed.
  • 6 2
 @geerumm: this complaint is so exhausting. CO has roughly 6 million people while CA has nearly 40 million. In other words you can learn to share and get over yourself.

 @geerumm: not sure if i should upvote your point or downvote it, but yeah

 Wow, USA racing has gone to the shitter...

 to be fair im sure it has been very challenging with the whole COVID thing, but yeah... really wish there could be more races. Seems like USA cycling doesn't give a shit about DH...
  • 11 1
 Lots of XC and enduro but no DH
  • 20 0
 USA Cycling has been pretty trash for mtb the last decade, even without COVID making it hard
  • 2 0
 No N W Cup National events this year. They have hosted 2 races for the last few seasons.

 @NorCalNomad: ...20 years.

 @NorCalNomad: Since day one... pining for the old NORBA weekend festivals with DS, XC, DH and OT...
  • 7 8
 @ryansimonovich: You are 10x more likely to catch covid from DH racing than you are from XC and Enduro. Facts. Comes directly from UCI and your boy Fauci

 Big Bear is gonna be a shit show....but it's OUR shit show. And there's DS
  • 3 0
 @suspended-flesh: As long as there is DS we good fam. #dsforever

@packfill you're right I undershot that
  • 3 1
 @Yaan: Too many variables surrounding Covid to add the National word to the race. It'll be back next year.

 @olympicdirtsociety: Oh yeh, we want it bad. Great job always Scott. Hopefully I can make some races this year. Miss my N W Cup crew.

 @SketchyD: Ahh yes the good old days of Mt Snow, the huffy huck, bonfires in the parking lot, and the naked crit.
  • 3 0
 Would be nice if this article actually listed the city/state for the 2 other than TN.
  • 3 0
 @BEERandSPOKES: now you can’t even have a generator in the lot at Mt Snow. Their trail system is a joke. A National at Killington would be a great time though. They’ve got the infrastructure for a WC if they wanted to.

 @BEERandSPOKES: sport peaked in 1999

 Plenty of time to recover from injuries between races.

 Thankfully there are regional series out there like @Eastern-States-Cup to pick up the slack!
  • 10 0
 @DHhack Thanks for the mention!
  • 5 0
 That is what US has to rely on is the regional races. I hope other regions have it as good as we do with the ESC!
  • 2 0
 @Tormy: We have Fontana 8-12 races usually, though only one so far this year, Bootleg 3 races, SnowSummit 3 races NW Cup 6+. So the west coast has races we can hit. I agree the regional are so important.
  • 2 0
 @Tormy: we definitely have it the best. George and Chris spoil us. The NW cup is doing great stuff in the PNW and DHSE looks like they are on track for another great season too but neither of them are the ESC.

 Supercross: 17 races in under 4 months

USAC DH Nationals: 3 races in 7 months. Derp.

 Cause motorcycles are faster. Duh.

 Am I missing something, it looks like 3 races to me? Is 3 races the minimum to be called a series?
  • 5 1
 "Series: a number of things, events, or people of a similar kind or related nature coming one after another"

Technically I think it only takes 2 events to become a series... I've had a series of outbursts in this one thread
  • 2 0
 @geerumm: Got it! I plan to use this to my advantage somehow this weekend. If I do any 2 things right, I will have completed a series of accomplishments!

 Which happened first? Lack of DH sales or lack of DH races?

 Idk you must hang with a boring crowd.

 The sales dropped a little due to e bikes and more capable trail bikes. Then came covid which killed the race scene. Now you just get an e bike for shuttling and race on Strava I guess.
  • 3 0
 Damn bro you got a a lot of e bike salt @DoubleCrownAddict:
  • 2 1
 @freeridejerk888: I love my e bikes, hardly ride anything else these days.
  • 4 1
 12mpg Ford Raptor loaded with bikes are cool but person who uses eBike as a shuttle is not. Think about that for a minute.
  • 7 0
 Well at least the optimism is refreshing.

 Can anyone race in this series, or is it only for riders who have UCI points?
  • 3 0
 The TN National has all classes - from AM to PRO.
