The 2016 Victorian Downhill State Series has kicked off this past weekend in Shepparton, Victoria. In its tenth year of operation, the VDHS has started with a familiar track with some new additions, freshly built S berms were welcomed by all the riders, which weaved them down the hill in 2 minute race times. 200 plus riders ventured out to the bare slopes to tackle the unforgiving rocks, many becoming victims.
The racing was tight and the weather held off all weekend to provide dusty and very inviting conditions, with the winter Victoria has just had, this would've been the first opportunity a lot of riders would've had to dust the cobwebs off the bike and start riding dusty trails again!
Category after category, riders made their way down the hill, some making it down unscathed, some not. The final jumps line being a nasty treat for most riders, getting caught out by the slippery terrain, just moments before the finish line.
