He never has stopped practicing and training to stay elite level fit. At that level of training the speed wont stop till he decides the work isn't worth it to him anymore. With peaty that wont likely happen soon. He likes to race and win.
The boys in the uk are always running on the sweetest, burliest looking tracks. I am of the opinion that they have literally built WC dominance with years of shovel work and a healthy obsession for steep rutted turns.
^ yup.. makes our national champs or any race in the u.s. appear to be a bit of a joke.....such a stacked field and pretty awesome looking track...makes me miss the glory days of norba circa early 2000s...
@wydopen: now, now, us has got some good tracks. And the gravity raceing scene is improving. luca shaw is becoming a podium guy at WC.. Plus we got the guy whos won over 50 percent of the WC races in the last 5 years.
Girls too! They might look nice in these edits, but most of the year the weather is crappy and wet and many tracks are unrideable. In the Uk we are also lacking in actual mountains (except Scotland) Most tracks are short and sweet and like this one, haven't been around for very long. Having said that we are increasing the number of bike parks and tracks every year. That might now slow down as these were mostly partly funded by the EU.
@djm35: trust me Im not complaining...I can do 3000ft of descending that drops me into my backyard in 70deg weather during the middle of winter 3miles from the beach...
@wydopen: My thoughts exactly. Still, you in the US still have a lot of good riders - I'm from Germany. What do we have here? We have Fischbach, ok, he's no slouch, but he's no Gwin either. That goes for every German downhiller: way faster on a pushbike than I'd ever be on a dh rig, but so far of from what UK talent has to offer. I don't want to knock our riders, it's just those guys are on a different level altogether...
Racing Nationals in UK though, it's like going to a worldcup race only some guys overslept.
