@Eduardoramundo: There are lots of issues with trails and land ownership atm in the Surrey Hills. We have just had two really good (and relatively old) trails closed down in the last few weeks.
Step up has been there for years. Numerous videos from it .
Surrey hills is ridiculous, can't ride there anymore, even redlands is overcrowded, plenty of other places , people need to venture out
@fartymarty: It might be a good idea not to advertise the best places to ride on the most popular website,if they don't get closed down they get over used ,the mags do a good enough job of banging on about the surrey hills every month, too busy already!
Every one who is complaining about this video "exposing" this jump (90% of riders who go there won't send it any way) Ask yourself this question. If you back flipped the biggest jump at your local trails would you not want everyone to know? Share the stoke? Get kudus? Now ask yourself, what if your kid did it?
This is not the first and wont be the last video of surrey alps.

I kinda feel bad for the other two kids, Harry seems like he's always the center of attention, especially with them constantly recording him for a yt channel. I hope that the parents compensate off the camera, but the other kids do seem a bit beaten down by it.
Some parents are more concerned about vicariously living their dreams through their kid than actually raising their children right like giving them both the proper amount of attention and support.
Just ask Jon and Patsy Ramsey... oh wait.
Why do people always feel the need to speak on shit that’s none of their business? How do you know wether or not the other kids excel in other things, have varying aptitude’s that the parents nurture as well. Just stay in your lane.
@skerby: its not about what they can do (by the way, its ridiculous to tell a 10-12 yr old to 'step up their freeride game' when its amazing that they are so good), its about whether they feel like their parents care more about their brother or fame than them.
I think its worth a fair appraisal of trail closures in the Surrey Hills and the tension there. The two trails in question were shut for different reasons but the reasons for their closure are related. The first closure was because of unsanctioned building of massive gap jumps and illegal cutting of trees on private land. This coupled with concerns about liability during the current COVID situation led it to be closed again. Its been closed several times in the last couple of years and people have returned to continue to do damage to the forest. Sadly this building was so close to Evian that the impact of the issue undoubtedly bled across to this trail. T The other trail, Evian was a favorite of those with more of a gravity focus but the last 100 yds ended on a piece of private land. The landowner who owns the land is not a lover of bikers and their transiting across his land meant this closure was inevitable, the fact that riders verbally abuse him when he challenges them (on his own land) meant it was only headed one way. I do think that the organisation involved in the brokering of access onto the land could have taken a proactive approach and got some bikers to reroute to avoid conflict but they were probably faced with closing it or riders losing much more access. Truth is most of the Surrey Hills riding is based on a careful and delicate balance of agreements with multiple private landowners, all of which get nothing back in return for allowing access. I hate that it happened but the truth is that as its constantly promoted as the best place in the South East both online and in magazines, it draws more and more riders every year. Now the car parks are a zoo, local residents are increasingly unhappy about how swamped the village is and bikers leave limited economic benefit from a village store and limited use of the pub. Truth is that the only solution is charging for car parks to allow income and pay for an expansion of the trail network to accommodate the high levels of usage. Most other similar riding spots charge, there are donations boxes in the car parks and I never see anyone putting anything in them. The South East of England badly needs a bike park to alleviate some of the pressure. Trails will reappear but apps such as trailforks arent helping with the tension right now. And thats before we start with the 'lockdown idiots' riding halfords bikes without helmet down the trails...further conflict and tension just waiting to happen.
We're facing similar issues with the local Council trying to put an anti-social behavior order on the place where we ride. Criminalisng riders with £1000 fines and confiscation of bikes. I think it was getting too well known with people travelling distances to get there and then posting it to their followers on YouTube. The riders are trying to oppose the order, but the Council have had the signs up before it even went to consultation - that says everything you need to know. Despite numerous attempts to engage in dialogue with the Council, the last communication basically said 'Stop bothering us as we have nothing more to say on the matter". The irony is that the area has one of the worst records in the UK for public health. Mountain bikers are becoming pariahs in places.
Balance bikes and encouraging parents probably have a ton to do with it. My cousin is riding a pedal bike at age 2 because of the Strider, I think I took my training wheels off around age 7 or 8.
@TugboatComplex: Its not that we dont or do know, its just that they seem to be fixated on making him a youtube phenomenon while his brothers are much less the subject of attention. Kids need to be nurtured, and I am merely voicing concern that they are learning that they dont matter because they are not the best or that you only get praise and recognition for being amazing.
@pbuser2299: Some truth to that. If you parent like the average parent, you're likely to produce an average kid. I remember Nastia Liukin's dad at the Olympics- there was no color worth winning but gold. Harsh, but hard to argue the results.
@AllMountin: Locally we've got danny hart and ben hennon (bmx, x-games, etc), seen and heard some pretty unpleasant stuff from both their dads, tough parenting and nothing but perfection accepted. Can't argue with success though and it seems they both get on with their families well now.
Kids's got talent though.
Respect to young Harry , ballsy kid !
