I think it's more of a 4x thing... It doesn't make you faster, but makes you think you're going faster, which is an incentive to goooo fasterrrrr yoooo
It absolutely makes you faster, look at a plane when it lands, wheels going 0kph, ground going past at 300kph = big skid. Skids = Slow you down.
This is just a slightly less extreme example of that, wheel slows down in the air, when it touches down (if you've pedalled) it doesn't sap energy getting it back up to speed. Especially if the rider taps/drags a little rear brake in the air for control. Its only minimal but I believe it helps and at that level every 1/1000th counts!
The other thing it helps with is if you are already pedalling when you land it's an extra 2 maybe 3 pedal strokes before you hit the flat whereas if you werent and just try pump the landing then it will be slower. Go to a bmx track and try it. Big diference.
Pedaling is used for balance as rear wheel rotation makes it go forward or level out, just like gassing it in the air in moto- that's where it came from.
yo sick riding james! just to think a few years back when i thought i was better than you aha, attempting 360's in your garden and faceplanting every time! buzzing for you!
and cal.. amazing editing, keep up the sick work.
I'm from England and I hate Moto Gear. I have no desire to make myself look like a budget Power Ranger. Full face and Gogs? Yes. Bright white, blue and black matching top and trousers covered in logos? No thanks. I'd have serious words with myself if I caught myself in a co-ordinated outfit such as this. Good vid tho- well enjoyed it.
Well Gavlaa that's your opinion.
I don't think he looks like a power ranger, if anything it looks better than riding in cargo shorts and a shirt.. But you're a dirtjumper so there's a different look to each discipline
Yeah man I was only having a little dig! I must point out that I only ride DJ so much because Norfolk is flat as f*ck! My style is more down to the fact I'm an old bast*rd who's simply behind the times! Good work on the vid.
for an aspiring videographer yes it is common courtesy to know other's portfolio and avoid stuff like that, just watch more vids and don't get angry that someone pointed out your mistake, peace man
Well Ben, I'll do it for you! Also I will be coming down to film Chris and Jack soon so I'll let you know when and we can hang out for a few days and ride ect,,
no gloves lets you feel your bike and your movements with more sensitivity.... try it! Once you go bare, ain't no goin back there. Put on a glove, you ain't feelin the love. Ya it can mean that too!
Well let's see your video then! He might not be the fastest or go the biggest but he showed some good bike handling and smooth style on his hardtail, I liked it.
It's personal preference.
Goggles are for sun glare, helmet is for protection, and gloves are hand warmers, or protection if you fall on your hands a lot
Way more comfortable, especially if you have hard-to-fit hands that result in either loose gloves or too-short fingers..Also better bar feel is important for some. Not nearly as important for protection if you ride in a loamy zone like this, be hard to cut your hands up too terribly from what I saw. Finally, some people are actually able to consistently roll rather than stop themselves with their hands. I dunno, there's lots of reasons.

Neither words make sense here... ahha
Sick edit!!!
When did you last use your race jersey to ride a pumptrack / on a street? And why wear no gloves which are really useful to provide hands protection?
Old but more steel panter and a bit of Åre sweden
