bigquotesThat knee was the first thing that hit the ground after crashing at probably 70km/h, the inside of leg was rotting away and i was told i could potentially loose part of my leg. I grew up riding Sun Peaks, its my favourite place to ride, now im recovered we made an edit I'm really proud of.Ace Hayden

Right on Ace! Good to see you healthy and ripping again. (Without your knee you don't have a leg to stand on shredding Sun Peaks!) They have spent a lot of money on the trails up there and have flow and tech! I love that place!!

Rode Sun Peaks a few weeks ago and then rode Whis last week. Whis is boring. Sun Peaks has evolved a lot and the trails are way more interesting.

My wife broke her back there. The mountain was fine, first responders (bike patrol) were awesome, Kamloops ER was awful. Everyone we encountered and observed were to most unprofessional people I've ever seen. They sent us away with a bottle of morphine and instructions to "take it easy for a couple weeks" and "don't ride your bike. hehe".

Sun peaks is so sick now! New steam shovel is way more fun than aline, dm, d1 ever will be. Hope it doesn't get over hyped and get whistler crowds though.

I only visited Sun Peaks once. It does not offer the variety of trails that Whistler has and it is a long drive, but the speed and distance you cover in the air when riding down Steam Shovel is one of my lasting memories of my trips to BC. It is almost ten years ago that I rode there, and I can still relive the whole ride in my mind.

You should come back and ride it again. That is very much changing.

It's a totally different hill now. Huge variety in trails and steam shovel is brand new top to bottom

Sun Peaks has made huge improvements this season.

@mackg: I probably should. But in order to do so, I first need to get big bike again, then find time to ride it, and then time to make the trip to BC! That is a big task at the moment, so for now, I have to live from the memories.

@cru-jones: an enduro bike will be enough at sun peaks now. That’s been part of the improvements.

was that the same knee-ripping crash from a few years ago, or did he rip open his knee again? if so, that is really bad luck ^^

Just curious, what knee pad he was wearing at the time of the accident??

I think at this kind of a speed, it doesnt really matter.

@ciechan: I strongly disagree. A hard shell knee pad would have stopped anything

Everybody f*ck off, stay away from sun peaks haha. Don’t let the whis crowds find out about it

Dont worry, the only things that exist for those people are Squamish and Whistler. Everywhere else is too far away.
