I actually love it. Bua ghua egh aagh...all those sounds and a shaky POV without any gimbal...you can really get the feeling of the course roughness. well done! Big Grin

Maybe the best GoPro versus Reality footage ever! Now that's a proper track!

 Fking mental
  • 7 0
That was the best course preview. Had me gritting my teeth and moving my head like was there - just like my dreams where I have some talent - then i wake up- lol.
  • 6 0
Agree completely. I much rather watch someone struggle a bit with it on a preview like this vs someone blow through it like it was no big deal. It's supposed to be hard, right? Adam could have cursed a bit more though... that would have been ok.

@pixelguru: He apologized a lot too, came across as very British to me. I get why he wasn't happy though. He identified several cases where he just didn't pick the fast line so it just wasn't up to his standards. But it is good stuff for us to watch. If you watch a (near) perfect run of a WC racer it seems obvious (in that that was indeed the best line). But here you get to see what wasn't such a good line and then it is up to yourself to identify what could have been a better line (and how to setup for that). Until the lower bit where it just gets so fast and shaky that it becomes hard to identify how it could possibly been done better.

@vinay: Yeah I liked that about the video, it was essentially racer's notes read aloud, his first run with all the recon involved.

*best course preview ever. Gu-on Grandad.
  • 13 0
Agreed, really shows how brutal the track is
  • 1 0
 Noice one Gramps
  • 1 0
100% accurate. Freakin loved it. Its amazing how fast gramps is even on the first run on a 4 minute long greasy rock garden. Proper gnar that track.

My arms hurt just by watching this
  • 73 0
My bike got 2 flat tires from me watching this.
  • 4 0
well... a thought for all the rest of my body in fact...
  • 1 0
 This course looks legitimately abusive!
  • 27 1
Would make a good world cup track. We need more venues I'm sure there's plenty out there.
  • 9 0
looks like the stone field of Maribor... all along the track!
  • 2 0
Can anyone explain why this track isn't on the WC roster? there must be some reason? Local authorities won't back it, UCI deem the course dangerous? Would love to understand their thought process?

Adam, you may well have thought it was the worst pre-view, I however flipp'in loved it. Best of luck
  • 2 0
@ski-bike-repeat: I guess UCI is doing like formula 1 and get payed by the venues to give them the right to host a WC. So naturally not every venues see an interest in it if the exposure is not worth the spent money.
  • 1 0
@alex16trail: search on pinkbike, Nico V did a video a while back explaining how a track get WC status. It is expensive, but it is not the UCI they pay. More to do with surrounding infrastructure: spectator accomodation and safety, transport links, anti-doping facilities.

There is far more to being a WC track than simple a great track.
  • 1 0
 @ski-bike-repeat: I'd say it's about money
  • 2 0
@ski-bike-repeat: While Spicak is a great track, one of my favourites when I used to race European Cups actually, it doesn´t feel very World Cup like. Its not as steep and tighter/more awkward than the WC tracks I´ve ridden. WC tracks tend to be quite high speed. Could be a fun mix up though
Edit: Also the chair lift is slow, very very slow
  • 2 0
@chriscowleyunix: and this is why the UCI sucks. UCI, WADA, IOC and FIFA are in a death match to see who can be the worlds worst sports governing body, and it's a 4 way tie....
  • 1 0
@chriscowleyunix: at the end it comes back to what I said, the exposure is not worth the spent money for some of them. Do you have the link to the video I'm interested. All I could find was an UCI pdf talking about an avrage payment Around 50k +40/50% of the title sponsors shares just to hold the rights to host a WC.
  • 1 0
@F22: It was way faster before they built the skywalk up there
  • 22 0
I'm not so sure why this is the worst ever? Because it lacks cinema quality? Because he didn't ride a full clean run?

I'm fine with a course preview being shot like this, honest view from a riders perspective ...

Also thumbs up for being a true gentleman and great MTB ambassador for stopping to check she was ok, we don't get to see much of this from the elites, but something I hope we all do at our own local riding spots!
  • 13 2
It’s the worst ever because that what he calls it at the end.

A lot of people seem to have missed that.
  • 1 3
to be fair, I don't know if a pro on a training run needs to stop to check on a downed rider when there is literal dozens of marshals, other riders, and paramedics on scene at a big race. Different story when out at your local, but I doubt there is a pro alive that would just blast past a downed rider when out on a local trail system....
  • 15 0
Damn that looked rough! (and fun!)
  • 11 0
Top class. Doing a run for a work related video, still stops to make sure that the other rider is fine. That's the spirit of mountain biking that we all like to see. Also, I'd be happy to get down it that quick when it wasn't greasy. Well done lad.

Best course preview ever! Genuine AF
  • 7 0
Worst course preview ever, with a crash and a stop, still one min faster than I could do it with a weekend of practice.
  • 7 1
Track looks prime. Put a world cup on that track. Would be a great watch. . . Maybe not so good once Redbull filled in the holes and covered over the rocks.
  • 5 0
It’s go pro footage that fills in the holes, red bull just wouldn’t film 90% of the track
  • 7 0
I hope he did a truck walk before he rode that start ramp.
  • 2 1
When race is done, drive away in the start hut. 'I did a track walk this morning, can't remember anything, so yeah'
  • 4 0
Looks like some new Hope Levers are in the making;-)Might be the Gravity pendant to their new XC Brake
  • 3 0
Looks like the lever body is no longer in angle with the lid. That would be a nice upgrade! I never know how to tilt the bike for Tech3 brake bleeding...
  • 6 0
@PHILSOGOOD: I find turning the bars 90 degrees makes the lever reservoir pretty flat
  • 2 0
Seems like there's no split clamp anymore...bummer.
  • 1 0
@Muckal: The split clamp is great, but I find the stock alloy bolts to be made out of cheese, I just went to the local hardware store and picked up a pack of 50 steel M5x16 bolts.
  • 2 1
@Jaib06: funny, back in rhe day when the Tech Evo lever came with steel bolts i changed them to aluminum with the tought in mind that they would snap instead of the lever being damaged in a crash. Turns out Hope stuff is tough and nothing ever failed (see, Magura, that's how it's done Wink )
  • 1 0
@Muckal: Fair point, I've been through so many of them, even with a torque wrench so I just replaced them.
  • 5 2
This track is wheel smasher …….this track you ride just because it’s raceday not even for fun…..nope, it’s not fun at all, if you don’t have wheels sponsorship .
  • 3 0
When I was there for the IXS Cup someone said the track basically plays Beethovens For Elise on your rear wheel. It does.
  • 1 0
So true, watching practice you better to put ear plugs in to avoid crying over smashed wheels
  • 2 0
He's made for this! Casing, swearing, apologising and stopping to check other riders are OK, still manages a fast and fearless trip down the hill, proper job Grandad. Love it.
  • 3 0
he does say "bringing content , not quality" so he ain´t lying to us x)
jokes aside , the grandad is a funny man
  • 4 0
 Best course preview ever
  • 3 0
Testament to how damn good Adam and all the rest are. That is mental that he isn't even panting.
  • 3 0
Rocky woods look like local A&E is a major event sponsor?
Winner is rider that survives most runs!
  • 2 0
That was awesome! Heart in my mouth a few times on lines when changing lines.
  • 2 0
That is hilarious. That track looks insanely difficult. Glad you survived so you can make another one.
  • 2 1
Why is there always whistles blowing on these videos?
I'll throw another vote onto getting more course previews from him too.
  • 3 0
It's so they know when a rider is coming
  • 3 1
Course marshals clearing the track for the pros. When you are there and hear a whistle you get off the track.
  • 1 0
Each rider that passes, they blow a whistle. Many reasons for this including warning riders looking at lines you're there and knowing if someone is riding close behind, so you don't just stop suddenly.
  • 2 0
I don't think it's the worst. I quite liked it. I always root for Adam when he races.
  • 3 0
Track looks rowdy. Nice job keeping it real in the preview Adam!
  • 2 0
No Idea why this was a bad preview! For not riding the track before he was pretty fast
  • 2 0
That is a really rough track. You'd no doubt use the full 8+ inches of travel on a DH bike on that course.
  • 2 0
 Liked that. More please Adam
  • 2 0
Can this be a regular thing?!?!? That was fantastic!
  • 3 0
 What an awesome track.
  • 1 0
What grips are those? They look like Renthal trials push on but with a lock ring.
  • 2 0
Def need more technical tracks like this, so sick.
  • 2 0
More Grandad previews needed...keep it real
  • 2 1
“You’re not the only one going down “
Bet she got a move on after hearing that .
  • 1 0
More like most relaxed course preview ever. Riding that fast and not even breathing hard. Incredible
  • 2 0
i think its a little rocky in some sections!
  • 2 0
Fantastic work, enjoyed the preview; Brayton is rightly a legend!
  • 1 0
Not one of those people standing there warned him about the rider down around the corner.
  • 2 1
Haha reality tv hits mainstream media . More of this . Good stuff
  • 1 0
Clearly you have never seen any of my course previews
  • 2 0
 So raw. Loved it!
  • 1 0
 Oh yeah, Struggle is lovely
  • 1 0
 It’s a genuine POV. I’m exhausted
  • 1 0
That was mint! Good luck Adam!
  • 1 0
 Yo Adam!!
Still didn't drink coffee together..
See you next time ❤️
  • 1 0
Did he crash at 4:10? Film skips a few frames
  • 1 0
Haha really enjoyed that thanks Adam
  • 1 0
Grandad pulling it out the bag again with a brilliant edit
  • 1 0
I could do worse than that.
  • 1 0
Yes please more "real life" POV!
Adam life is a good life
  • 1 0
That was awesome....looks a scary track
  • 1 0
Ha ha brilliant, couldn't keep still watching it, shattered lol
  • 1 0
 Track looks decently seasoned.
  • 1 0
 New Hope levers on there?
  • 1 0
 Track looks punishing!
  • 1 0
 Worse than rat
