Is this the sickest Enduro Stage ever!? Stay tuned midweek for our new video series chronicling the local communities that we visit, in partnership with Mountain Biking BC.

Race Recap: Round #1 Fraser Valley // Norco Canadian Enduro Series presented by LTP Sports

There's something unique about the Fraser Valley that I just can't put my finger on. This past weekend in Chilliwack, BC, we achieved brilliance. Maybe it was the beer, the seemingly endless supply of sunshine, the hospitality of the Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association, the strength of the community, or maybe it was as simple as riding some of the best trails in the world. Regardless of the factors, I think everyone would agree that it was perfect.

The weekend started off with the Vedder Mountain XC, BC's premier XC event, and finished off on Sunday with the Enduro. The enduro featured more than 2000m of elevation and was more than 30km's long, challenging racers on 5 stages with an average race time pushing north of 30 minutes.

Our winner in the Pro Men category was Carson Eiswald, matched by Jill Kintner for the Pro Women. For full results you can click here.

This year we are switching our race recaps up a bit; we'll be posting a brief recap after the event, so stay tuned midweek for our new video series chronicling the local communities that we visit, in partnership with Mountain Biking BC.

Our favourite thing about this weekend is the community support and love. With amazing brands, community members, and riders coming together, we were breaking records all over the place. A massive thanks to all the trail builders who showed us a good time - these guys were even out on Friday night, finalizing a few corners and revamping a couple lines for your enjoyment and in true lifer fashion, this was all post-shuttling for the day!

For those who didn't know, at every stop of the Norco Canadian Enduro Series, we donate 10% of racer registrations towards the local club's trail maintenance. For this race, racers contributed $3000+!

A special thanks to Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association!

Cultus Lake Park | Chilliwack Tourism | Old Yale Brewing | Vedder Mountain Bike Co. | Lakeside Beach Club | Canadian Ski Patrol | Ernie Kliever | Mountain Biking BC | Meghan Jackson | Ali Chappel | Mike Boughner | Lucas Hall

(L to R) Ali Chappel, Meghan Jackson, and Ernie Kliever - this is the organizing crew for this weekends festivities. Their passion for good times on bikes is the real thing.

Volunteers are the heart beat of the event. James McConville is always keeping the stoke high. Thanks James!

This is only a small portion of the passionate FVMBA crew, volunteers and team that make these events happen. It takes a small army to pull everything together.

The Course

When the weather is warm and the climbs are steep, people need to eat!

Love the food station shots, we went through almost 1700L of water and 6 boxes of bananas! Thanks to the crew at Ice River Springs for providing the water and Food Station support

This weekend saw our largest women's turn out ever!

Matt Beer was looking strong all weekend, but in the end he was edged out by Carson. We're always stoked to see Matt at the races, he's one of the nicest guys around and is always keen to spin a good yarn.

This year we featured a new stage and some new steeps. Focus was key!

Norco Factory rider Jill Kintner made the trip up this weekend. It was an absolute treat to see her smile as she gave kudos to the trail builders and the community.

Carson Eiswald was dominant, winning by almost a minute over the rest of the field.

Georgia Astle was on a heater! The Women's field is super competitive this year.

Jacob Tooke, Norco Global Athlete and member of the Norco Canadian Enduro Team, had a rough day with a crash on Stage 4 setting him back for the day. Teammate Evan Wall was out with a wrist injury, while Max Leyen was competing in the EWS Madeira. Look for them at Round #2 in Kamloops.

At every event, we pick a stage that is full of wild thrills and tremendous spills. This year our buddy Mike Coulter is on course armed with $75.00 cash to make someone's day a little better, so follow along on Instagram for the video from this stage, and be sure if you see Mike Coulter to spin a yarn and tell him about your Thrills and Spills.

SMITH has been supporting community events for a long time. Wanna know the best cafes in town? Pick Jack's brain at the SMITH tent - he knows all the secret spots!

Toby and Clara were the lucky recipients of $75 for their Thrills and Spills.

We chose Stage 4 - Blackforest HAM as our SMITH Thrills and Spills stage.

Livin' the Dream!

These events are more than just racing, it's about having an adventure with your crew and in some cases, winning some sweet, sweet, prizing!

So close! The We Are One Composites Rim Swap Fiesta, is simple in theory - swap a tire on a carob rim, fastest time wins a pair of rims. But it's harder than it looks, just ask this guy! He didn't win, but put in a valiant effort! The winner was Rob Whishaw with a 1:49.

Chase McLeod from Kamloops entered our pre-season draw on Instagram, and was hooked up with some fresh tread from Schwable Tires.

Rooftop Tents = camping in the 21st century!

Race Face is a rad company because not only do they make wicked product, but their engineer and sales team were racing in the event - oh, and they shut the beer gardens down!

This was the best prize of the weekend, a SMRT (Small Mobile Rooftop Tent) went home with Ryan Taylor. SMRT Tent will be at every event this year, so if you're looking to upgrade your camping game, be sure to chat with Cody at his booth.
