We all know how crazy the last 12 months have been. Our crew and the participants were excited to get back to a fresh season of racing. This year at Flat Rock Ranch in Comfort, TX was no different than the 6 years before, rowdy, lots of stoke and testing conditions. The enduro gods gave us some sunshine, a little bit of rain and dense fog on day 2 of racing that made for some epic shots! The weekend went smoothly and we have everyone to thank for coming out to race, sponsors for supporting the race series and Jimmy at Flat Rock Ranch for allowing our shenanigans to return to his winter enduro oasis in the Texas hill-country. Here's to another season of Southern Enduro Tour racing, cheers!

Transitions part of the game.
Transitions, it's part of the game! Your choice to pedal or hike. Each of the two race days consisted of 5 unique stages approximately 13-15 total miles and 1,800'+ of elevation change.

Would any bike race be normal without some heckling? Salty Ging, you make a good cheerleader...but heal up quick so you can get back to racing between the tape.

Stage- All The Way Down . This section has a series of natural features- drop step up drop drop.
Stage- "All The Way Down". This section has a series of natural features- drop, step up, drop, drop. Like a lot of stages at FRR, these aren't permanent trails and splice together a combination of single-track, enduro lines we have built and a lot of design interpretation with race tape.

Good to see there is racing going on somewhere!

I raced this race and believe it or not lots of people were masked or had a buff on while transitioning/lined up on stage start. It’s Texas though and lots of people either 1) don’t care 2) have pandemic fatigue. Dustin the SET promoter/author of this article did a really good job on his end making sure that everything he could control took COVID into consideration.

Sure it was great, looked like a good time. Lots of folks just want to sh*t on it to get virtue points or to bash on anything TX.

I raced this race...all the talk about not wearing mask...it really was not that bad. People for the most part stayed apart. I chose to do transitions alone and when there was a line i tried to keep my distance. But as someone said earlier this is an outdoor event and if you know how viruses work you need to be exposed for some time not just by contact. Fun event...Way to go Dustin!!!

He’s a shredder... and he’s on the spectrum. Cool article about him here:

@Hogfly: great kid and parents. I wrecked real bad at windrock National last year and my bike went about 300 yards straight down lol. His mom walked half way down the mountain and drug it back to me lol.

What kind of goon argues against wearing a mask? It’s no big deal. Wear it. It lets us do things like this. It won’t make your penis shrivel up. Possibly.

Texas is not the south. Happy to hear counter arguments.

Sometimes I think Houston counts. The rest, no way.

@stanks: third coast and geographically but actual south? Na fam, Houston is quite blue.
  • 1 1
@Meyercord: blue, as in votes for the democratic party? not sure why that's relevant

Quit crying, if you don’t like it stay home!

Unfortunately, I expect to see a whole lot more of this. Pandemic fatigue, social distancing fatigue. I guess it's to be expected. We're all in this together. Do your part and wear a mask when in close proximity to others. Be kind to one another. Let's hope we can put this all behind us sooner rather than later.
