Video: Andrew Taylor Connects Bogus Basin to Boise Bike Park

by FSA-MTB

Home. Not many of us really get to say that word and feel it from our soul. Home. A four-letter word to some, but not to FSA and especially not to Andrew. We are both rooted in the northwest and have the ability to ride everywhere and come home to something familiar, safe, comfortable. Home is where the dirt is best. Home is where life begins and thrives. Home is where we stay rooted.

bigquotesAfter living on the road for a few years and riding in all 50 states, I was finally ready to settle down and find a place to call home. With so many awesome riding communities throughout the US, it wasn't an easy decision, but in the end, I landed in Boise, Idaho.

Since then I've had a lot of friends ask "of all the places you visited, why Boise?", so I've teamed up with FSA and Definition Films to give a little glimpse of what drew me to this amazing area. Come along for the ride!

 gosh dangit dont post stuff like this! Boise is already getting too many people moving here we dont need any more positive press!!! great video BTW

 Interesting how he edited out the last few miles of descent from 5 mile gulch to the bike park which used to take 10 minutes but now takes 30 minutes because of angry dog walkers, NICA pelotons, and general overcrowding. Bikers yield to uphill traffic and all hikers. The video would have shown him stopping about 100 times if he left the reality of the lower foothills in.

That being said, Boise is still great, but the roads and general vibe feels more like California than ever. Lakes 10 miles back in sawtooths feel like Ponderosa park. Bogus basin sells out of season tickets in about 12 hours. And 1/3 the population believes COVID was engineered by the government to take away their rights.

Time to move to Alaska...

 Too late, firing up the zillow machine to get out of the midwest!

 @takeiteasyridehard: "1/3 the population believes COVID was engineered by the government to take away their rights." That's a conservative estimate (pun fully intended).

 FR the trails suck don’t come here.

 @takeiteasyridehard: I think that number is closer to 2/3 of the population if you include the rest of the Treasure Valley. Just drive out toward Wilson.. you'll see.

 Least affordable housing market in the USA. STAY AWAY.
  • 5 0
 @Dopepedaler: That's part of the reason why we bailed. Also getting dang expensive.
  • 4 0
 @Doogster: are you saying you left Idaho because of the predominately conservative population?
  • 1 0
 Yeah -just post some pics of all the puncture vine that grows everywhere along the trails and roads. That and the housing bubble will be enough to keep people away.

 @meathooker: Younger 10-15 years ago? Come on...you were the old man when I met you....circa 2003ish

You were (and I'm sure still are) fast AF though.

 @earache: And they don't even know the colonial origins of the anti-British, pro-Revolution flag.

 @SirWonky: I've never had any issues with it on my MTB.

 @HB208: Shut up! Play along lol.

 @BikesNRussets: HORRIBLE GOAT HEADS. STAY AWAY.
  • 1 0
 @HB208: Yup I agree, got 5 punctures on my last ride.

 @Dopepedaler: I literally had my barber just go on a rant about how foolish people have been wearing masks, leading into his hopes for Bitcoin to take over and then follow that up with "I moved here from Cali cause the gun laws are great". Dude, the only thing left out was flat earth.

 @takeiteasyridehard: who is this?!

and yeah i felt a hell of a lot younger back then haha

my racing these days is cars and utv's .... i'm SLOW on a mtb now

 @meathooker: There is conservative and then there is what Idaho is becoming, but it was mainly cost of living and the flexibility a new full remote job offered.

 posts like these are weird, like you and your family moved there at one point right? I know you're kidding but people are legit like this IRL

 @Dopepedaler: still better than what Democrats are doing to California. The cities are shitholes, highest taxes in the country, crime is out of control. Let's rag on conservatives though...

 @Bushmaster123:

LOL. Show us where the mean Democrat touched you....

 @mariomtblt: my family moved to ID in the 1890’s

I feel like I’m safely in the zone to flip people crap for clogging up our state
  • 1 1
 @meathooker: I bet your family wouldn’t have liked people giving them grief back then,

Maybe new people moving near you have been disrespecting to the area which is bad and I can see why you dislike them at the same time.

 @wheelforge: I think I might know that barber

 @Bushmaster123: Considering the typical response most conservatives (and conservative legislatures) have had to a pandemic, my indictment was tame. My sincerest apologies for triggering the big, tough, alpha, bro-flake.

LOL - keep clowning yourself, Guy With Assault Weapon For A Username.
  • 3 1
 @suspended-flesh: did you see his about me if you click on his name? "Why isn't Kyle Warner's Covid story being publicized". Something like that. While I agree that story is a shame...I think it appeals to those who hide in echo chambers, and stands to cause more division and harm than actually educate or advocate for responsible behavior. People should know, but I think the media is much more aware of the negative power of information networking these days...
  • 1 2
 @suspended-flesh: you could be more wrong. Bush as in outback not weapon.. You think you're so clever but really you're just desperate for attention. Go buy another 5 panel hat, maybe another tattoo... My original comment was not directed at an individual, you started that attack. Dissappear into obscurity...
  • 2 0
 @suspended-flesh: Those are some pretty sweet guns.
  • 1 2
 @suspended-flesh: or bushmaster: somebody who is an expert at navigating the outback/ "bush" and backcountry..

Or the humorous take, no muff too tough, I like big bushes.

But let's go with the more divisive lefty liberal comment about gun lover...
  • 1 0
 @Bushmaster123:

Outback Bush, AKA Backcountry, is the spiciest, for sure. Enjoy navigating that area!!

I am a gun owner. Why you gotta try to pigeonhole me? Just because my profile says I live in SF?
  • 1 1
 @suspended-flesh: sure you are...

You're so conflicted it's honestly sad. On one hand you've been lusting after the newest Rapha gear, but you know it really doesn't go with your Operation Ivy tee shirt and psuedo punk rock image. Also, you can remove the stick up your butt about which Pavement album is the best too. Just buying Rapha gear, you know it's more you than the Dead Kennedys sticker on your Tacoma. You may need to find a new friend group if you do though...
  • 2 0
 @Bushmaster123:

1. I hate Rapha
2. I hate punk rock nostalgia - I lived it.
3. I listen to black and death metal exclusively, but I do see jello around town.
4. I drive a Torta, not a Taco.

What else you got? That's a pretty weak and disjointed attempt and PB character assassination.....

 The trails suck here, go to Bentonville instead.

 Welcome to anything west of Kansas. Crowed trails, angry hikers, an too many Subarus with at tires. It will only continue to get more expensive and crowded in the mountains. Enjoy it while you can the CCP will own it once we default on our debts.

 Great vid Andrew! Two jumps he tricks at 48 seconds are on Rabid Badger at Bogus.....fantastic trail, but those two are a bitch to clear, let alone trick....well done!
  • 4 0
 Fun fact: riding from the top of the mountain at bogus basin to the bottom of the mountain at Boise bike park on these trails involves almost 3000ft of climbing
  • 5 0
 Andrew, I'm surprised you didn't land in Lynn Woods!

 Really glad there was no mention of all the tick fever in and around Boise… wouldn’t want to scare anyone away.

 Yeah, at least they didn’t say anything about the fact that we don’t allow abortions after fetal heartbeat. And that no one wears masks.

 For sure! I'm gonna round up a grip of homeless tweekers and hop the next freight. Looks like UP goes to Pocatello - close enough! If not, we can come in from the north of the state via BNSF.
