Video: Andrew Taylor visits Iowa, Nebraska & South Dakota - AT's Ultimate 48 State Road Trip

Iowa

After a solid week in Missouri Jack and I make our way up to Iowa to check out what kind of mountain biking the Des Moines area has to offer. With just a couple of final days with Jack around we made the best of our time riding Ewing park flow trails and checking out the downtown area.

Nebraska

After dropping Jack off at the airport in Des Moines I made my way up to the Omaha area in Nebraska. Unfortunately I hit a ton of bad weather in the first few days but once it cleared up I was able to meet up with Jason from Bike Masters for a ride at Tranquility Park.

South Dakota

After Nebraska, I made my way up to South Dakota to meet up with a handful of the Black Hills locals. As I arrived in the area it poured rain nonstop for a four days. Once it finally let up, it was the perfect timing to meet up with Evan from Rushmore Mountain Sports and check out the freshly built pump track in Sturgis. With a couple days of good weather, the trails were able to dry out and I was able to get after some moto with Adam and some trail riding with a solid crew of locals. Thanks for the good times boys!

The next states up are Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon. You can follow the adventure through my Instagram & Youtube channel with a new video dropping every Friday.

Cheers from the road!

@AndrewTaylor: Following up about Kentucky from your last Pinkbike article: I live and ride in the Bluegrass region near Lexington. We have a lot of XC style trail, but have a fresh new set of trails on a brewery farm outside of Frankfort. There's plenty of gnar to the east and west of us, though. Louisville has some fantastic trail, but I would highly recommend Sugarcamp Mountain out in Prestonsburg, KY. Josh Turner (@thortonwilder00) and company have cut some real fun out of the hills out there.

Sounds rad! Let me know if you would be down to meet up and ride when I make my way through that area. I don't have anything planned yet so it would be cool to have a local guide.

@AndrewTaylor: Sweet action! Let me know what your time frame is and we’ll make a plan!

OH hell yeah, that trail network that includes Bone Collector is 10 minutes up the road from my house. Never thought I'd see it on PB. Looks like the rain kept ya off some of the better "in town trails" though. Killer footage, I'm stoked.

Yeah man, it was insane how much it rained when I got into the area but we made the best of it. It's definitely a place that I'd like to revisit down the road.

@AndrewTaylor: You definitely made the best of it! Vet's peak never get's old. Come back in the off season when the grass is gone and more trails will be more fun!

Great stuff AT! As an Iowa native, I was really wondering what you'd be able to find there :-).......good stuff. Keep up the fine work!

Thanks!! It's been fun going places that you wouldn't really expect to find riding and stumble across rad stuff!

I remember having a blast riding Tranquility on my '98 rigid Rockhopper when I first started. Is it the same joy as throwing a nasty whip on Dirt Merchant? No, but in the Midwest you make due with what you have.

Haha exactly! I really had no idea what to expect but was stoked on that flow section at Tranquility plus all the rad dudes at Bike Masters!
