After a month of solid rain, the sun came out for a few days, and we found time to shoot a little raw edit on one of Matt's local trails.

Matt has had a great year racing the EWS series as a privateer and bagged some solid results along the way, hoping that 2020 brings him a pro deal.

Interesting, since the Privateer 161 is on the top of my new bike list. It looks like an agile bike despite its length, but it might just be the rider....

We'll he could be over sprung/dampened just to make the bike "poppy" for trails. But if he's riding the correct size that he help develop than that's one seriously long wheel base to be slapping around like that. So I'd say rider was a HUGE contributing factor! Smile

I'm sure it is a rad bike, but it is more the rider.

What I learned from this edit; long bike, no problem turning with the rear wheel in the air! I just have to learn to get my back tire up and swing it around like that.

My XL mullet Geomtron 160mm/160mm was more playful than my old transition patrol. Length is a horrible proxy for bike 'playfullness'.

@downcountry: Length is not the only indicator, but it's not a horrible indicator. It's still a valid point that that bike is huge and he made it look like a "downcountry" bike... Smile

Also, I find the mullet version of my Honzo more playful than when it has both big wheels.

Also, "most" of the time people like the "new" bike better.

Also, it's hard to remove the Ford VS Ferrari "cool" aspect. Geomtrons are pretty rare in the US.

Thought I'm just pointing out further discussion points. Back to back comparisons you may be 100% correct...?

But this doesn't make any sense... Pinkbike comments taught me that long bikes can't turn
