Idylle FCV 37 Details • 208mm travel • Available for 26" or 27.5" wheels • New Frequency Control Valve • Hydraulic bump stop • New arch design for improved clearance
This video gives pretty much zero information on what the fork actually does. So it comes in 26" or 27.5" and has a hydraulic bottom out bumper, but what about anything useful? What about compression adjustments? Air or coil? Stanchion size? Weight? steer tube size? Open bath or closed damper? Ramp up adjustment? What the hell is in it? Is it run by magical trail fairies that automatically adjust to upcoming bumps?
The trail fairies help u fly, not roll. Solly rider, fairies.are for kickers! Jk, but seriously, all i learned from this ours what i read before the vid, and that only tells me how it changed from a previous model that i also know nothing about
Air, can tell by the top cap. Stanchions are 37mm. Seeing as they mention a valve and a new bottom out, I'm going with similar open bath as before, just refined. They didn't mention the new air bleed port on the spring side though, the 2.5mm Allen key. Highly doubt a ramp adjust seeing as that wasn't something really sought after in the previous, the new bottom out does that slightly too. Might be some fairy magic in there, Bossard is pretty secretive about the internals he designs. Last interview with him showed he didn't like talking about the little details that seperate his suspension from the competition.
Pure marketing video for the inexperienced. This is pinkbike we what details and run downs.
Marketing means nothing to us enthusiasts.
Although it does a good job of making us want to know more so still works for them.
This looks like marketing done by someone who is used to selling consumer products to the masses using meaningless acronyms and buzz words. This is the mountain bike world where that stuff doesn't fly. Just tell us what the hells in the fork. We will comprehend.
I have full BOS on my DH.. I had Fox on my Trail bike. I was so spoiled with BOS, that I had to sell my Fox and get BOS for my trail bike-- their suspension is phenomenal. I just hope their customer service will equal their products one day.. .
If it's under 2k that's an "affordable" BOS fork. Despite all their prices, I have magical things regarding their forks and rear shocks, I would kill to try one, but spend 2.2k to try a fork, nahhhh.
I tried the rare version, and frankly. For a weekend warrior, you can't notice the difference. Most of their stuff is pro level. So for mortals except epeen swinging there's not much use. 90% of the people can't push it to that level where you'll utilize it's full potential. This puppy was on a 16yrs kids bike that he rides like a 130mm trail bike. Pretty pointless if you ask me.
Nope. I sound real. Why would I fork out 2000+€ for a fork that I'm not gona be able to utilize to it's maximum. On I bike I'll ride 3-4 times a week. I'd rader put a mid end fort say marz 888 cr, boxxer rc, suntour rux. Save on the money. And use the rest to a. Buy beer, b. Travel and ride my bike outside the usual riding places.
as simple as that.
yes it's a wonderful piece of engineering. Yes it's drool worthy and sexy. Do I want it: yes. Would I be able to use it the way it's meant to be used: no.
You can never have suspension that works TOO WELL. Sure you can be a shitty rider that may not exploit its full potential, but at the end of the day you're still going to ride faster and more confidently on high quality suspension regardless of your skill level.
@rakeothon not strictly true there is a service agent in Las Vegas. Most proper suspension tuners can service them as well even if they have not been to BOS (France) to do the course, which is something that BOS insist on.
Re the Idylle RaRe and Void: despite not being able to push the suspension like the pros can one can immediately feel the benefits, the small bump sensitvity and compliance is out of this world, the suspension stays in the mid travel better then my Fox 40 and RC4 do, somehow when I use the full travel I don't even know that I have done so until I look at the o-ring/s at the end of a run. Also the combination has led to the best balanced feel I have had on my V-10 (third year on one now and three different suspension set ups; V-10.4C Fox 2012 FIT RC2 & RC4 Ti with Ti spring, V-10.5C Fox 2013 FIT RC3 & RC4 and V-10.5C BOS 2014).
Running exactly the same set up as last year except for the new suspension so far easier to notice the difference in just the suspension. Also only running 22% sag BTW feeling better control on the bike but way less juddering into the hands and arms.
I know that there is a new US distributor as well as current service here in the states. It is also my understanding that a full service center is due to open shortly on the West coast. Personally, I'm excited to have a suspension company of this caliber entering the US market.
I have yet to fully utilise the capabilities of my current 2013 BOS Idylle RaRe air (It's brilliant for starters)......yet I wonder what the new one feels like already.
A question. Is it reasonable for an average rider to buy one? I mean, the servicing part must be a nightmare. The time limits for that as well. For teams and pros it's easy, but a simple hobby rider? Seems not that legit to me.
Bos service intervals are some of the longest of any fork. they recommend full service once a year for the Idylle rare fork which is a lot better than the likes of a world cup boxxer. I am going to be servicing mine in the next few months but from what I have read and seen it is a relatively straight forward process and no more difficult than any of the rest of the big companies. So add that to the phenomenal performance then I believe they are worth that bit extra over the likes of RockShox and Fox. I will admit in the past I have been informed that it has been hard to get parts but alot more servicing companies are working on them so looks like this will improve.
Sick commercial!!! Sick edit-sick rider-sick riding.... sick all of it! This is how I would make my movies! Oh yeah.... I guess that fork is pretty sweet too... and that handle bar! Not to deviate from the original subject of the commercial but that is the new carbon Fatbar. You can see it if you pause it at 0.33sec. I'm definitely interested in that!
as simple as that.

that's just my reasoning.

If you can afford it it is amazing.
Fox skf seals and bushes fit too (36mm) so even if Bos can't get you the parts, you can still so them...
