All respect to Semenuk and his riding, but that was hard to watch. So much shaky, fast cutting footage. I get being artistic but that was a little overboard, couldn't even fully see/appreciate what tricks/style he was doing
  • 72 3
Exactly. It looks more like a trailer to some full length film.
  • 71 2
I'm glad I wasn't the only one. To be honest, it looks like it was directed by Rob Zombie.
  • 26 2
its because it wasnt shot by revel co this time. love semenuk but mfw
  • 24 2
felt exactly the same.. i had to stop watching after 20 seconds because it was so anoying
  • 58 1
This is what mountain biking looks like when you’re concussed.
  • 6 1
Take a look at Benoits edits in general. Dude loves his cuts.
  • 41 1
Needs to have a seizure warning at the start.
  • 9 3
@jakketayylor: "Love semenuk but my face when"?
  • 24 0
thanks god I'm not the only one felt terrible to watch... guys imagine they paid money, traveled, filmed for a few days to create something like this 1 minute long. Crazy world.
  • 30 1
brandons my fav rider but shieeet i hate these teasy little chopped up glitchy edits. They just feel like incomplete instagram clips
  • 34 3
Looks like someone trying to justify that art school degree.
  • 27 1
I read some of these comments before watching it. I was thinking it can't be *that* bad. Oh, it is that bad.
  • 10 0
just show one shot in its entirety...some were beautifully framed with perfect light but you couldn't even realise that in 0.5 seconds Rupert does the artsy thing right.
  • 6 0
Nice tease, my popcorns ready and the clips over...waitn for the full feature.
  • 1 2
I totally agree. The filming style was almost exactly like his Japan video.
  • 6 0
A missed opportunity. The editing was actually pretty cool, just excessive. Too much brevity. Fails to do the most important thing, which is showcase Semenuk's riding. at only a minute and a half, he could've let the edit breath a bit more.

Somebody loves Paul Greengrass Bourne movies, and it's not me.

(I'm imagining the inevitable "I suppose you think you could do better" remark. Yes, give me the raw footage and Final Cut and I could. As could almost everyone here.)
  • 6 1
Cuts are too fast, it's dizzying or I'm having a stroke.
  • 2 1
@w0dge: Ah. So that's what happened to me.......I can't remember a BLOODY THING!
  • 3 1
That was a visual assault on my senses.
  • 3 0
I think that it's intersting to can be in this "Semenuk universe", that apparently is kind of deep and dark instead of just focus on his riding side.
  • 5 1
it was rad. but, im hungover and almost puked watching that. hahaha
  • 4 0
The smoothness of typical Revel vids eluded me on this one
  • 1 0
The value of that edit spasm Eludes me....
  • 2 0
Yeah one of the more awkwardly shot things ive seen. Still the most stylish rider out but the editing was doodoo
  • 2 0
 @w0dge: having epilepsy, can confirm.
  • 2 0
Agreed. If the jason bourne movies were an mtb edit.
  • 2 0
@maxx-x: I agree but go back and finish it the second half is much better imo.
  • 2 0
 True
  • 1 0
 @CAshredder: 0:20 isn't half of 1:33

Could you please stop?!?!? This is a completely different and creative way to display the insane style that semenuk has. If you ask me, it looks sick. Benoit Lalande: keep doing what you're doing, love it.
  • 1 0
 @mtbracken: Haha, exactly the same.
  • 1 0
Gotta admit ... Brandon's edits lately have not been that exciting. Artsy video work, which is cool. A handful of tricks (that no can was rad), but nothing ground breaking. I agree that it just looked like a trailer :-/
  • 93 2
so uh what happened... there seemed to be an earthquake the whole way through
  • 13 1
It's the guy's style. Just read the reviews of NOMAD:

"Here’s a break from the Vlog and rip clip. Alex Smith’s newest edit “Nomad” is less surf and more scratchy images and predatory cats. Teaming up with Southern California filmmaker Benoit Lalande, the clip is steeped in saturated, color tinted frames of Alex around home in Hawaii. If you're looking for a pumped up surf clip, you won't find it here. There are, however, a few very well ridden waves. Mr. Smith is one of the most barreled surfers in the world, and if you’ve seen as much vision as he has, you're allowed to drop a rogue, artsy edit every once in a while."

"Here’s a break from the Vlog and rip clip. Semenuk’s newest edit “Elude” is less send-it and more scratchy images and earthquakes. Teaming up with Southern California filmmaker Benoit Lalande, the clip is steeped in saturated, color tinted frames of Brandon on some mountains. If you're looking for a pumped up jump clip, you won't find it here. There are, however, a few very well ridden lines. Mr. Semenuk is one of the sickest riders in the world, and if you’ve seen as much vision as he has, you're allowed to drop a rogue, artsy edit every once in a while."

Makes me long for another "one shot" edit, where I can actually focus on his wizardry before the shot changes or some shitty filter comes on.
  • 47 6
 Nearly gave me Covideo-19.

Too soon?
  • 12 3
Since there is no end to this pandemic, there is no waiting period required for gallows humor.
  • 37 1
 meh. emperors new clothes.

more skill in his little finger than i'll ever have but want to watch / gawp at him actually riding.

more raw 100 please
  • 26 1
Anyone else got motion sickness from that video? Stevie and Gee's segment from Follow Me remains for me the definitive NZ segment.
  • 5 2
I wish, I got ADHD from it!
  • 9 0
For me, New Zealand is George Brannigan hucking gaps to Motorhead's The Ace of Spades.
  • 1 1
@iamamodel: yes please! good stuff that is
  • 27 2
Could be a fragrance coming out soon? Eau de Semenuk
  • 4 2
I'd buy it in a heartbeat
  • 21 1
 Doubles as $150 chainlube
  • 2 0
 @juicebanger: Haha! Good one mate
  • 25 1
almost gave me a seizure but, pretty sweet
  • 1 2
 pretty sweet indeed
  • 15 3
 0:38 - WTF?

Great riding, awful cutting and annoying music choice.

When you have a rider like Semenuk, you better step back and let his riding do the talk. No reason for shaky cams and jump cuts to speed things up.
  • 3 4
Its a different style of filming my friend, not every semenuk edit has to be the same
  • 2 0
@bhastey: true, they don't all have to be good...
  • 15 1
I would watch Brandon Semenuk sitting on a couch all day.
  • 2 0
 Hmmmmm... Ok then.
  • 14 2
I can honestly say this is the first Semenuk edit I didn't enjoy watching.
  • 2 3
enjoy it for what it is...
  • 10 0
Didn't realise Redbull were sponsoring video editors now too?! What happened... he did some jumps right?
  • 20 14
yeeahh naaa going to disagree with the majority here.... That was sick! Audio matched for the cutting was on point, the whole thing was rad! obvs not Revel co style editing but why would it, if its shot by someone different!?
  • 6 1
 Thought the same
  • 9 1
bring back raw 100 please.. 5 seconds of riding, 1min+ of '''' wat is dat??????'''
  • 5 0
Although this isn't the best video I have seen, I fully appreciate finding the limits and sometimes going past them. Thanks for making an awesome video! I'm sure the next and the one after will be better and better!
  • 4 1
This guy is one of the best people in the world to watch on a bike... This does nothing to show his skills and artistry. This looks like a preview to a movie where the action is eluded to but is actually being saved for the full release. Frown
  • 6 3
Bruh, everyone needs to stop hating on this guy's style. Please. It's something different, and it looks pretty sick if you ask me. The soundtrack plus scratchy video is a completely different and creative way of displaying the style that a man like semenuk has.
  • 3 1
Agree with the first part. Creative and different. Hard to watch, but different. But as mentioned before, you can do this with any rider. Fragmenting Semenuks moves is pointless, because the beauty of his style is how effortless and on point he rides. That should be in focus. It‘s like casting an oscar winning actor and cutting everything out of his acting.
  • 3 0
Pretty sure from the title, the videos theme is how everything is shaking up in the world. Cannot judge it just as an edit, it's an edit for the times, and how hard it is to focus now.
  • 2 0
I might be one of the few that actually like the video. Appreciate the creativity of Semenuk and everyone he's working with. In the ocean of all mtb videos look the same it's cool to see something more creative and yes a bit abstract. This video is for people with more artistic way of thinking and not just looking for more tricks and more riding and more of the same stuff. It stands above the average to me and gives another perspective to the mtb videos.
  • 7 2
I know everybody stated it before, but that was awful to watch.
  • 4 1
wouldn't be a true semenuk video without the standard standing perfectly still staring off into space shot... and as always a random ass title for a video
  • 4 0
I hope that is just a trailer to the real video... +1 on the riding -1 on the editing
  • 4 0
That shot with the seagulls was pretty risky.....could have turned out real shitty!
  • 3 0
More about the "art" than Brandon :-( but Brandons riding should be the art not the film !
  • 5 1
 Certainly eluded the cameraman
  • 3 0
Artists have an unconditional right for self expression but gods I wish he meditated more often.
  • 4 0
So was he actually riding through an artillery range or no?
  • 4 0
What happens when the song choice comes first
  • 5 0
 That’s the ticket
  • 3 0
Brandon Semenuk: "I can't go race my Subaru rally car. I guess I'll just go hop on my bike. Maybe send it a wee bit."
  • 3 0
this video made me feel like i drank redbull and smacked me face with a shovel.
  • 2 0
I love the tailwhip with barspins together, looks awesome! so smooth... but the music and first half was definitely disappointing. I do, however love watching him ride.
  • 3 0
Lalande should stay off the cocaine.
  • 2 0
Can't ever knock the riding, even through the slasher film like horror show that edit was, Semenuk is still a GOAT
  • 2 0
With the music, I thought he was riding an e-bike or motor bike with the random "braap" sound.
  • 3 0
Ahhh... I'm just gonna go watch the George Brannigan video again.
  • 2 0
This is filmed like a commercial for deodorant! Im expecting "Sure for Men" at the end!
  • 2 0
I thought this would get better after the nearly unwatchable beginning. I was wrong.
  • 1 0
 As always, fantastic riding.

Definitely not digging the song choice/editing, but that's preference. I totally recognize that it's a different style by design.
  • 5 3
i like it, its different but its good
  • 1 2
 thank you
  • 4 1
 Jump cut city!
  • 3 1
When does the full video come out?
  • 2 0
 You shouldn't have epilepsy!
  • 3 0
 Boo-urns
  • 4 3
Tourism New Zealand should ask for their money back. I can't imagine how much they overpaid for that "edit"
  • 3 0
 made my eyes hurt....
  • 2 1
Don't care about the fluff and the B-roll... whine all you want about it.. flip double bar to Kan FTW
  • 3 1
I thought it was great. Well done.
  • 3 1
Well we thought that was bloody cool. Watched it several times now.
  • 1 1
Benoit's style of editing is very creative, that does not mean it's easy on the eyes. Could have been any rider on that video...
  • 2 0
probably the only semenuk vid i didnt like...
  • 2 0
What's with the moaning/gasping sounds in the audio.
  • 2 1
The bar was raised after we all watched Remy's drone video. This video was spastic.
  • 2 1
This is like watching a transformers movie, you don't know what is going on but you're still entertained somehow.
  • 2 0
I dunno looks great when you have few beers holding your phone
  • 1 0
Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan. All joking aside, this physically hurt my eyes. Seriously.
  • 2 0
Please, send us this footage again before editing.
  • 1 1
H’mm, not the best trailer I’ve ever seen, and it features Semenuk so that’s saying a lot !
  • 2 1
Goodmorning! Shook me up in a good way
  • 1 1
It's a close call between this and that Fabio Wibmer drone video for which makes you want to vom the most
  • 1 1
Just cut :06-:24 and it's a pretty good little edit for a teaser? I don't really know what it is.
  • 3 1
 unwatchable.
  • 2 0
 Yaaaaaaawwwn
  • 2 1
Sick edit. Best rider on the planet.
  • 1 0
That’s what happens when you pay the editor by the cut.
  • 1 0
Amazing as always but want more
  • 2 2
Poor video. Its very hard to watch. Thumbs down Frown
  • 1 3
Also, Benoit Lalande, if you want to make an edit of me feel free! I could do some one handers, maybe even a no-footer! Haha... Love your style
  • 1 0
 the nose tap though!
  • 3 4
I thought this video was lit. Brandon is a god.
  • 1 2
