To start with DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. Okay glad we got that out of the way and now onto the video itself. This week Beney and I decided it was time to test the Defender Spicy MTB Sender 6000 and due to having to stay local we decided as one final send off for the house I would jump over it on my downhill bike. Or at least I thought I'd jump over it. Sam Pilgrim also offered up his sprinter as a landing so expect that one coming soon.
We wheeled the ramp into position and instantly knew the gap was way too big to clear with pedal power alone, so decided we had to make a bridge to park the defender on to get as close as possible to the house. So we got to work with Olly Wilkins and mapped it out to make sure it worked as best as possible.
To be honest I was pretty sceptical of this as soon as rolled the Landrover in to place but I knew it had to be done or at least attempted before we pull the house down ready for my one to be built. Sure enough, the defender jump works amazingly just the run in failed me and ended up in a huge case (gonna need a lawyer for that) haha. I think is the biggest misjudgment of speed I have ever had in my whole career. I blame being towed in on the Motocross bike as I was getting roasted, visibility was poor and always hard to judge speed when you have so many other aspects around your to judge. Cheers to the bro for attempting it though, he killed it.
It's tough to know where the limit is these days of what we should be doing and not doing in these weird times. I just always want to entertain you guys and if riding my bike doing my job is doing that then I'm a happy man.— Brendan Fairclough
From going to a new build to a 300 year old grain store I agree, however if there's one thing you notice it's the lack of efficiency / warmth. Still I'd much rather have it than my new build
@sewer-rat: my 450 year old house is better designed and built than most modern houses, walls must be at least a solid foot thick, warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
@Bedede: Where are you located (no flag next to your name) thick solid walls (high thermal mass) are good for certain climates and/or when winter heating was provided by a large fire or ineficient oven/stove, but arent particularly good for a centrally heated house in southern england.
@BenPea: The good old Munich Agreement... We've all a hand in f*cking that one up. It's a damn good job we managed to get rid of all that division and distrust across Europe in the intervening years...
@Dropthedebt: what's the shelf life for historically inarticulate WW2 internet dick swinging ? Do you think a century will do it? By the way, who can put their hand up and say they've never swapped Czechoslovakia for something that turned out to be not *quite* what was promised? Let he who is without sin...
I tried this at my house. I don’t know what was so hard. The lamp on the bedside table was ugly and barely worked before. It doesn’t work at all now but I cleared it eventually. I didn’t even need a ramp. I highly recommend trying to bunny hop over crap you don’t need anymore. It is a great way to learn new bunny hop skills and get rid of stuff at the same time. Cheers!
Best bit about this is when Brendog turns into a giggly schoolboy and his good lady turns mum.
A situation many blokes have experienced in their lifetime. LOL
That made me feel real good about all the times I've jumped and been like... well hell I'm not going fast enough. His humor in failures is so refreshing. Truly one of my favorite riders out there.
i can't help but thinking a smaller wheeled/framed freeride bike would have been more suited to this. to be fair I'm sure he has a much better idea of what he's doing than i do
Should try this at my place...you can ride onto the roof straight off the ground after descending 20 metres or so. She'd be a great jump but the landing could be a shocker...either trees or a 15 metre huck to flat.
English way of building houses...garden bigger than the house, garage smaller than cars and car parked on the road and weird shapes and locations... that's how we do it pal
Love you Brendog but that was just insane. From a builders perspective that landing ramp was bound to collapse if you landed on it or smashed into it... This was a suicide mission.
Oh my god ???????????????? I'm glad you are okay. I think you might need to cut through a direct path into the flowerbed Brendan. That first jump has slowed you down a bit.
I think it's worth a serious debate about rider safety and recklessness in pursuit of clicks. I admit I thoroughly enjoyed almost all of that video, all the way up to (but not including) the life-threatening crash. I accept that MTB has inherent risks at all levels, but that video demonstrated almost zero consideration for the many risks involved. Just look at the platform they built at the apex of the roof! having a motorbike drag you down a a muddy lane for your run-up! Brendog hasn't even posted a video of that ramp being used, did he even test it out once?! The list goes on. Did they edit out all the safety considerations? Did they edit out his friends telling him this wasn't a good idea? Is it all fine since he didn't break his neck in the end?
I love Brendog's videos, I enjoy watching all kinds of MTB videos with risky stunts, but I want to be able to trust that there is more consideration for safety than I saw in this one. He doesn't have to do it, I don't have to watch it - I get that logic, but I think as fans we have some responsibility to discourage the kind of behaviour that could get our heroes killed.
gonna show this to all the quarantine shamers tellin me I can't drive 10miles down the road to my local XC loop in case i have a cwash an get an ouchie
What an idiot. I’m sure his local hospital would have been thrilled if he turned up at NHS needing an emergency operation or ITU bed. You can imagine the conversation.
Hospital: It’s a bit busy at the moment and we haven’t go spare ITU or emergency beds at the moment. How did you hurt yourself?
Rider: I tried to jump over my house on a pushbike to make a few quid on YouTube and keep my sponsors happy!!!

wife; ´´that is enough, seriously...´´

husband; ´´right, that didn't go as I imagined....´´

... where else would I try to jump over my house?

Yeah, no. Enough of this crap on here please.
