Just wait for the E-Hybrid bike that has gas motor too. That way you can run off an engine and charge when the battery is low. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?

@mi-bike: Unless is a gigantic panel, they do not put out enough charge. Plus, you would need to set it up during daylight hours...when you are riding.

The indisputable facts of ebikes and their harm to trail systems is that they can cover more ground and tend to be ridden in wetter conditions when a pedal bike would not be. Therefore a person goes for a 50km emtb ride now and doubles or triples the amount of trail they've used, if these trails are wet then it means more damage, if the trails are into the back country it means more flora and fauna are interfered with that normally would not have this amount of human interaction. I'm not against ebikes at all, i just want people to understand the reality of what is coming... trails in eroded and in disrepair and potentially closed back country areas due to over use.

in Whistler the ebikes are not allowed in the alpine. But hey we should also keep things in perspective. People also braap trenches straight up mountains with motorbikes.
