Video: Chainless Jibbing in 'No Chain, No Worries'

Well it was... for a little while! As an MX based media company, we ventured into the pedal world for the first time last week to film for recently established online bike store SHOP MTB U.K. - the rider of choice, Billy Hoyes. Chosen for his unique Jib/BMX style riding, we sorted Billy out with a new 100% aircraft helmet courtesy of the Shop MTB and we were on the way.

5 minutes in to the shoot we were a drone down, a chain snapped and ready to pack up... However, the show must go on! After a quick (sketchy) bodge and test run Billy wasted no time throwing down some fast runs and big bangers including a new trick to his catalogue - Flip, roll back fakie to bar!

bigquotesAs soon as the chain snapped after the first attempt of the day I thought we were done, but I just thought f*ck it we're here anyway let’s just do the edit chainless haha! Sick day, love filming with Pinned Media and seeing what they’ve come out with! No chain no problemBilly Hoyes

All this paired with the household classic ‘the passenger’ by Iggy pop gave us hope that all was not lost after an awful start to the day!

We hope you enjoy some good old fashion, steezy, chain free entertainment courtesy of Pinned Media and Billy! #nochainnoproblem

Did you genuinely just film yourself taking off a snapped chain and chucking it in a bush?

@luckynugget: earn those turns? No I didn’t mean that literally he now cannot pedal at all which is like the whole point of a bike

Riding chainless is fun every now and then. Just lobbing your chain into the undergrowth is a dick move though. That was more the point I was making. To be fair, you can't actually see where he's chucking it in the vid, but still it looks very much like he's just lobbing it into the nearest bush instead of into his van or whatever. Fuck people who chuck litter on trails. Those people are pricks.

@gabriel-mission9: Bruh, imagine driving a car and then turning around and then saying that someone is a weiner for throwing their chain on the groundlol

@LaneRippy: What if you drive a Tesla and enjoy the smell of your own farts?

@LaneRippy: I get your point but littering is always a bad idea, especially promoting it in a video.

The chain was shortly retrieved from the bush before leaving, taken home, given a nice bubble bath and a wax. The chain is now being cared for by an adoption agency, it has had an abusive life but it well on the way to recovery.

Dropped a lucosade bottle on the way out though and that’s still there.

In all honesty his riding was quite good, however the videography made me quit watching halfway through, I had to tilt my phone back and forth in order to see what was going on, this really hurt my eyes to watch.

The pandemic will force more of these rides for a lot of people. The Supply Chain is broken too haha!

Taking the drivetrain off for a few shuttle laps every now and then is as close to a religious experience as I've ever gotten. Absolute silence and an overwhelming sense of speed. Love it.

Check out those silent hubs. Religious experience every day!

I've tried taking the brakes off once and the sense of speed was truly overwhelming.

@mackay66: no need to write off your dreams as both Spitfire and Rune do support 26" with another set of dropouts you can buy separately or choose as an option if buying the frame Smile
