Video: Champagne for the Ibis Enduro Team at EWS Rotorua

Mar 27, 2019
by Ibis Cycles

Bex Baraona's eyes tell the story as she realizes that she's secured her first EWS podium!

Robin Wallner started off his 2019 season with a solid 10th place finish

Lewis Buchanan rose from a hospital bed after being felled by the flu and soldiered on through what he called his "toughest day on a bike"

Lewis made it to the finish, preserving some season series points and coming home 53rd

Bex's consistency paid off, finishing 2nd on three stages, along with a 3rd and a 5th on the other two

In the end it was all champagne wishes and caviar dreams for the girl from Buxton. After 32 minutes of racing, a mere 0.16 seconds from 2nd place

The team is back in action this weekend at EWS Rd.2 in Blue Derby, Tasmania. So follow all the action on the Enduro World Series Live Race Feed, and visit us here next week for another episode of our video series, and a full race recap.

Thanks as always to our sponsors: Ibis Cycles, POC clothing & protection, Maxxis tires, KS dropper seat posts, Shimano components & shoes, LizardSkins grips, One-Up components, Fabric saddles, Fox suspension, Fláerbike care, Honeystinger nutrition, and Feedback Sports

Stoked for Bex. Follow her Instagram, she is quite bonkers.

A great start, interesting that the HD4 is still very much relevant against the Ripmo 29er

My theory is we'll see a Mojo HD5 in 27.5 and 29, and the Ripmo will be the trail bike and replace the Mojo 3.

@cole-inman: the HD 4 seemed to have little time in the limelight before the Ripmo arrived, having owned the HD 4 and Ripmo I'm pleased to say that I kept the HD 4 and sold the Ripmo, for me the HD is a far superior bike, I hope you're right about a possible HD 5 providing they use the HD 4 as a starting point as the frame is much more attractive compared to the Ripmo, maybe 29 front and 27.5 rear.

@Gavalar66: don't know about that one chief. The ripmo is a friggin sick bike, and it is far from inferior to the HD4 if Wallner is shredding it. The Ripmo is a versatile and fast bike that looks just as nice as it rides, and it's here to stay.

@cole-inman: As long as they replace the name 'Ripmo' when the replace the Mojo 3 everyone will be happy ;-)

@Jonathan2003: I get what you're saying, it just wasn't the case for me hence I sold it, interesting to see that Bex rode the HD4 in Rotorua as did Wallner in 2018 on a few occasions, looks like the sweet spot of a do it all Enduro bike is still elusive, either way, happy riding.

@Gavalar66: Ya, the bike doesn't really matter, it's more the rider and their preference. Happy riding mate!

Please Ibis, you got great bikes, a great team and resources however please invest in music. It’s 2019 and going to the mall is no longer cool.
