2 weeks off the bike and we were all feeling a bit sketchy! Nothing like some primo dirt and the best jumps in the world to get back to though!— Jesse Melamed
@nateisgrate: I rode that same penultimate weekend and I think the key point is the braking bumps were generally less bad in 2020 than at the end of many long, hot and busy summers of recent years. They've gotten pretty clever with watering parts of A-Line and Heart of Darkness overnight to help but there was a bit more precipitation as well, and maybe half the number of laps due to Covid. I"m still curious why they had that first bit of A-Line closed all season and whether it had something to do with repairing the braking bumps up to and into the first berm, which got comparatively bad in 2019. Anyway, I'd say with the exception of two or three corners it was mint and really, it's amazing to just stop and look at it, like when you get to the bottom of the good bit of Fade to Black and look back up A-Line. That great wide strip of dark brown track with the huge jumps, just waiting in the trees....
@dynasty710: Yes, those two and that one towards the end of the the first section where there's a long left hander to jump with a big landing down to a right hander where everyone's braking hard. The rest of it seemed to hold together remarkably well compared to my historical recollection. Incidentally, when we were fooling around on the new and improved Fade to Black, on that Sunday we saw what seemed to be the jump analysis committee out looking at that huge double in the upper section. My son and friend saw someone do a massive OTB on the landing while they were there with their clipboards, although apparently the guy was OK. I wouldn't be surprised if they modify that jump a bit. We're pretty sure it was bigger in 2020 than in 2019, maybe the takeoff was made steeper, but regardless, its a monster.
Then his name is said.
Now I understand.
I wouldn't even make it in the first berm at around 16sec, with that much speed! That's insane!!! lol
You’re no slouch yourself.
