Cody Kelley has been riding on two wheels his whole life. Today, he’s known for his super dialed and fast style, and the best #tabesforbabes. And when it comes to his dad, Ol' Dog, he’s always been a key influence in Cody's life, as they’ve taken turns being hot on each other’s heels.

Cody Kelley and Ol Dog

Reasons Episode 1 - Got Me Beat

In the first of our “Reasons” series we explore Cody Kelley’s key inflection points that have led Cody to where he is today. It has a lot to do with his parent’s influence of getting him into riding bikes at a young age, some friendly father-son competition, and getting into the racing scene with his pops.

Whether they’re ripping at Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah together, or practicing getting low in the parking lot, you can guarantee that this father-son duo is stoked on life and stoked on bikes. One thing is clear: they don’t plan to stop riding together in the mountains any time soon.

 Pretty darned cool.

I'll be 55 in February, only got into mountain biking around 10 years ago and now totally obsessed with it. Age is no barrier to getting out and having a blast, meeting and making new friends, visiting different places and riding all kinds of trails.

Keeps you fit, keeps you feeling young and alive.... you've gotta love biking :-)

Old Dog oozes good times.... Even the most brief conversations with this guy will make you laugh harder than you ever have and make you more stoked to ride than ever before. Keep rippin old man!

Cody and Old Dog are two of the most genuine people in the sport. Never seen either of them without a smile.

Old Dog (Mike) is also the 2019 DH National Champ for his age division. So yeah, he still shreds. Great job Mike and Cody. Keep shredding, stay stoked!

I race enduro with my 11 year old son. We have a 'pairs' series in UK where you set off together as a team with team time for each stage counting for the overall. He's almost as quick as me now!!!

I've seen these two out shredding a few times, such a cool dynamic between them! My own dad shared riding with me when I was teenager many moons ago, he's 62 now and still paces my brothers and I most trails we ride. It's a joy in my life to ride with him, memories made I'll always cherish.

Made me laugh. The drive by high-five belly poke sums up my relationship with my sons. Get your digs in whenever you can!

Classic lol. Groms are funny people (grown ones too!). So much confidence on a tiny package.

Me to my 7yro: "You can't come on the 5hr bro-ride, its prob sketchy and I want to scout ride it before I take you."
Kid: Dad...I'm a better rider than you on Black Diamonds,;I should be scouting the trip for you."

Me: "Ugh...look, its prob all uphill"
Kid: "Fine. We shuttle ride tomorrow tho"

BMX riding btw! There is just no substitute when it comes to kids development. Never a bad idea to get them on both BMX and MTB. Plus the BMX freestyle bikes are so much cheaper.

All my kids ride, I started them on single speed early on, didn't give em gears until they went to college. I rode muni with my son starting when he was ~10yo, continued into HS, we had some good times. My daughter is a little more conservative, like her mom, but she's got a FS bike and she'll ride park.

We all still ride together, my son in law is becoming quite the rider too, so there's always someone to ride with when we get together.

They still can't catch me, but there will be a time, but it's all good, I'm way beyond caring who's the best as long as we're all having fun and pushing limits.

Rad video! I can totally relate to pops. Riding THROUGH the rock garden is so much harder than jumping over them. LOL

Super cool. It brings back memories of riding and camping in Moab on weekends with my dad in the early 90's. He was a beast! Hope we can do it again someday!
