More confused than ever. Things used to be so simple.
Process 111, 111mm of rear travel
Process 134, 134mm of rear travel
Process 153, 153mm of rear travel

Process X, is that Roman? Like, 10mm of rear travel? Or is this now in inches? Please dumb things down for me.

158mm in short cs setting, 164mm in long cs setting, just to add to your confusion.

@camoflars: 158mm? those are some shooort chainstays! Big Grin
  • 1 0
 @Vertik: haha! 158mm of travel Wink ????
  • 1 0
 X is clearly for "extreme"

I like the Design! It doesnt look as beefy as it is. It looks more like a slim trailbike than a big enduro ship. In a good way!
  • 1 0
Looks a lot like the new 134 they have too
  • 2 0
Might look trail bike slim at a glance, but the geo and travel say otherwise. This is a heavy-duty bike.

Amazing how good you can make a bike look in the hands of two world class riders Big Grin DDD Do like that bike though. Processex...?? Ok.. Sweet ad.

Now can we get a review on this bike. In 29 and mullet mode. It’s on the short list of bikes that interest me, and there are no reviews out there.
  • 3 0
just buy it! im on a 2019 153 CR/DL and love it. I just told the wife im going to buy a new bike
  • 1 1
Same. Wanting a purpose built mullet and this is definitely on the short list, just hoping it’s up to snuff!
  • 1 0
Agreed thought it odd that there have t been any “first look” reviews even. Love my 153 and was planning on another till it got dropped this year.
  • 8 1
Psst! Psst, Kona! Ever heard of the threaded BB? I know for a fact you have because Honzo.

 Kona.

Any chance of this coming out in an AL frame version, or a frame only version?

I have a G2 Process 153 29'er, and its been a great bike to learn on. I just don't get along with the tiny chainstays in the larger sizes (6'1" rider here).

This looks like it addresses that concern I have, its just to spendy for my budget at the moment. But a ~$2k (or under) AL frame only option could see me making a move.
  • 1 0
 There's a frame only option.

 @olaffons:

Link?

I don't see any mention of one on their website, at least from what I can see in the main page for the Process X, their listings of all process models, or their webstore/parts pages.
  • 1 0
@ocnlogan: there’s one mentioned on the DL page www.konaworld.com/process_x_dl.cfm
  • 1 0
 @maxc:

Thanks Smile .

I'd been looking at the "normal" Process X (non DL) page every time I went to their website. It didn't even occur to me that they'd list the frame only on one, but not the other.

I'd like to be funny, but like the production team of this video, trying hard is not enough.

Don't want to take anything away from Connor or Miranda's riding, as both are fantastic, but would've loved to see Aggy shred this one too. Shame on Kona for letting him go Frown Still, nice video and the bike looks fantastic.

Finally, we don't have to pretend the 153 is an EWS race bike anymore.
  • 3 0
Seems to have a couple of substantive national Champs level wins, EWS standings, EWS courses and EWS results.
  • 2 0
@FoesKnows: With a custom rear triangle, yep.
  • 3 1
@jpcars10s: Fearon/Miller ride with a custom, Verner's is stock. And while he's had some issues, he did great in Whistler a few years ago on one, and won a stage in Tasmania. Tell me if I'm wrong here. People making a big deal about 10 or 15 mm of chainstay length are just kidding themselves...

@TheRamma: with Sram factory support And talent even a 10 year old suspension design can work!
  • 2 0
@truehipster: not sure if you're serious, but Kona Process's suspension was completely redesigned in 2017, updated for 2021. If you're saying single pivot, then you're still off, it's much older than 10 years.

Weird how many posters here are absolutely sure they need the EWS's winningest bikes to really be able to ride to their full potential. Here's one list to help you choose (Process is on there, even with its unusable suspension). Commencal is also present, with their barbaric single pivots. Maybe there's something else to winning at EWS. Could there be a degree of rider skill???? How does Sam Hill keep picking the best bike companies??? Nukeproof has been at the forefront of suspension design and geo for so long...

@TheRamma: actually most posts on here are NOT serious. . . . And comparing a single pivot to a virtual pivot is like comparing A arm to multi link car suspensions. Even me being slow I can feel the difference, especially under braking. So why aren’t these bikes priced like cars? Honda Civic vs S2000?
And the world is far to serious, remember we are talking about mountain bikes here!
  • 1 0
@truehipster: my post does read way more screechy/angry than I am. My bad. Your take on MTB suspension is reductive. Lots of good bikes use linkage-driven single pivots (Kona and Commencal in EWS, also EVIL). They don't ride like they're inferior to VPP. Kinematics are the outcome of lots of design/engineering choices, lots of ways to tune them. Lots of people blame "kinematics," or all sorts of other gremlins, for their lack of riding technique or inability to set up their bike. If you're saying any of those bikes would totally hold back your riding, I just don't believe it.

Still wish you'd tell me where you're getting the "10 year old suspension design" claim...

 Wow. Connor rides so composed

Anyone else pick up the subliminal messaging in the bike’s name?

Ok, I reaaaally like this bike. Reaaaaaly like it. too bad the warranty situation isn't quite where I would like it to be. Kona, extend your warranty and I WILL buy a process x dl.

prefer the look of the zeb instead of the 38

loved the video and all, but it was NOT done in the true Gonzo Spirit. I knew the great grand daddy of Gonzo and he would not approve.

I think the black X deserves to come with Float X2 vs. DPX2 out back...

I agree. DPX2 on an enduro bike?? That is a light duty trail shock at best.
  • 1 0
Actually I heard that fork is more important so the change would be Grip 2 fork
  • 2 0
 We need more fearon edits!
  • 1 0
Who makes the hand guards on Miranda's bike?
  • 3 0
 AVS Racing!

I was all in, until that Cascade link came out. 300 bux is a steel .
  • 2 1
The Cascade link doesn't fix the short stays on the 153 unfortunately.
  • 1 0
There is nothing wrong with my 153, but I need this bike in my life.
