bigquotesDanny MacAskill and Kriss Kyle - "This and That" - Presented by Endura

After a frustrating few months of making and cancelling projects it was amazing to finally get back on the road with my good friend and BMX legend Kriss Kyle. In six days we managed to squeeze in a whole lot of riding on the Mountain Bikes as well as the Trials Bike and BMX and had a lot of fun along the way.

A massive thanks to Endura for getting behind this project last minute and allowing us to go out and make this fun film.

I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Insane skills from them both and I love the way you get to see the mishaps, showing these two sick riders are human like the rest of us mortals. And Danny Mac riding the chain, WTF!!

That chain ride was insane. I remember when Ryan Leech rode short sections of chain in The Collective blowing minds and here we are 17 years later, Danny riding a chain multiple bike lengths long. Progression mannnn

@scott-townes: ah that video takes me back! Thanks for that

@scott-townes: I'll never forget going to the Toronto bike show as a teenager and planning my whole day around Ryan Leech's live show schedule and theatre screenings of Manifesto.

@big-red: I won his bike last year. Smile Such a chill guy given all his skill.

Danny Mac was a hero of mine when I was growing up. His Way Back Home video was one of my favorites, and here he is, still blowing my mind 10 years later. He seems like such a genuinely kind guy, and I respect him a lot for that, what a legend.

Inspired was 12 years ago, and I still think it's one of the craziest edits out there. That 360 to flat (concrete) over that 15 stair?!?!

So telling that my 65 year old mums leading response to a (mountain biking obsessed) family WhatsApp chat about one of his recent videos was "He's just such a lovely lad, I want him to pop in for tea and cake".

This and that.... More like This is it! What a video, I think that Kriss is taking something from BMX to mountain biking that we have not seen before. Insane how quickly he can trick a mountain bike and he is doing BMX tricks now in a quarry which looks epic. Danny still has the insane skills and flow he has always had, even though he is closer to 40 than 30 now. The crash reel was also great, these guys know how to push it and take lots of takes to get the clip for sure.

It has always been the BMX Guys to progress Slopestyle and Tricks on MTBs in my Opinion. Just look at Darren Berrecloth or Cam McCaul in the mid 2000s

@RockCrawler: or how about Dawid Godziek throwin' heat at Crankworks 2019. That was some insane BMX skills at play.

I don't know what the big deal is, I can do 50% of everything those guys can do. Unfortunately though the 50% I can't do is getting back horizontal facing the right way with the wheels down, land and ride away.
  • 15 0
 Ya, that's "a bit tricky."
  • 16 0
They filmed this in 6 days! That is pretty impressive. Also the side saddle corner, (or nac nac corner?) whatever it's called was so cool!

That turn was the highlight of the video...which is no small feat.

@big-red: Did you mean “no small feet?!
Get it, do you what I did there?

do these bmx bikes actually have no brakes? I do all mtb, and I hopped on a bmx the other day and tried to manual it without thinking and BAM flat on my back. That's insane how those guys can manual those bmx bikes forwards or backwards with no brakes.
  • 3 0
It depends, a lot of BMX Bikes have the option to mount brakes so its more personal choice. I ride without breaks but sometimes I mount them just to try some new tricks or mostly for Jump Trails
  • 4 0
It's personal preference, but if you need to stop, a footjam works well. For manuals, you just push the bike away and land to your feet.
  • 1 0
@GilesSTurner: No it does not. Firstly, it takes time to move a foot to the forks, secondly, you've not got much control, thirdly, it's only on the front wheel, fourthly, it affects your weight distribution weirdly fifthly, impractical if rading fakie etc. etc.

A match made in bike heaven. Thank you for this.

Grew up in Blackpool and skated most the spots they were riding, so sick to see always thought Blackpool would be insane for Danny's riding!

One trick I did better. One time I came out of the woods with a full bush.

 Sounds painful.

This speaks volumes about my lack of ability when it comes to manualing and bunny hopping, but Kriss' hop off that wall after jumping the fence blew me away. A proper hop angled down at speed. Not to take away from the rest of the madness but that little bit was wicked.

Brilliant watch that was. Top work boys

Ya'll just had to get Kriss on a MTB. Now we're all gonna feel bad about ourselves, even more.

Great edit. I love the Kriss Kyle MTB content and of course Danny is awesome. It amazing how good these guys are at bailing without getting hurt!

anyone else feel like when he puts his front wheel on the chain link he takes one leg off for poser points? lol

Kris with the railed side saddle corner...and Danny riding on the chain are best clips for me of this incredible edit.

Cool to hear the admiration from Kris when Danny rode across that chain. I cant imagine going more than an inch.

Loved it as always with these two but expect conflict with rock climbers if you go damaging any of their routes.

  • 2 0
It's a Status. He was on a Stumpy Evo in his last edit, so maybe a Specialized deal?. Also noticed... MacAskill is riding eeWings. Good times =)
