 As mountain biking has progressed, it's become so much better. The technicality on tricks has become amazing. The top riders train to be in amazing condition and have really benefited from the professional way that teams and sponsorships are set up so they prepare themselves like try professional athletes. But every so often, I get the feeling that it's lost a little bit of the give no f's insanity that it had in it's early freeride years. Dylan brings that back.

 I think that feeling with this rider comes from him being a bmx rider too. It seems like bmx has gone from being very contest and event focused in the past to a more core street rider DIY culture now. I think we could see mountain biking going in that direction. I for one wouldn't complain, this video had a ton of really cool creative line choices and was fun to watch.

 Could have easily been a Video of the Year contender.

 I reckon this guy could do rampage and actually go half alright
  • 6 0
 Just don't let him do any of his 3s. He will literally do a 540 on Rampage stuff because he has zero interest in landing straight and flat lol. Has to be nose first, inverted, and way over rotated to keep things loose. Big Grin

 @Civicowner: haha Y33T! installed my dropper and my rear shock. now I'm trying to find a fork. so annoying trying to find 130mm stuff...
  • 3 0
 @lepigpen: does the shock work as intended lol
  • 3 0
 @Civicowner: Yup. It's actually so much better than the X-Fusion I'm... Confused. Even though the bike was brand new I think the shock had an issue. Since it's a PoS I probably can't sell I'm probably just gonna service it to practice maintenance and see if it is actually that bad.

But aside from having a lovely lockout just having a shock with supple actuation and useable rebound top to bottom is life changing. Now looking for a fork to match it...
  • 3 0
 @lepigpen: awesome haha

Mattoc?
  • 3 0
 @Civicowner: I mean with availability I'm only getting what I can find used. I figured I'd find a cheap RockShox easily enough but holy shit people ONLY ride 29ers now.

I found a nice Fox 34 but he stopped replying. So frustrating. Also 130mm is uncommon so I might have to bump up to 140 just to find a fork to buy.

But the real issue is 27.5, I am SWIMMING through a sea of 29er forks and every 27.5 fork i find is like 160-170mm enduro lol
  • 2 0
 @lepigpen: most 140mm forks can be lowered to 130. just find a rockshox pike, revelation, fox 34, mattoc, auron of any travel and convert it to 130. rockshox and fox just need a $40 part to change travel, suntour auron and mattoc don't need anything just some knowledge on how to take it apart

 BMX riders Transitioning into MTB make it look effortless
  • 2 5
 He was riding mtb before bmx
  • 5 0
 @Scunny: Not sure which came first but Dylan was truly riding Moto, BMX, and MTB almost all his life. He's been 2 wheelin since before he could walk. I'm glad he's transitioning out of the toxic BMX industry and moving to MTB and having fun with moto again as well.
  • 5 0
 @Scunny: def BMX first.

 @lepigpen: mtb industry toxic af too.

 Think Semenuk gave him a decent mtb couple years ago and he's just gone totally nuts on it great to watch

 Ya know you see a lot of talented freeriders/slopestyle/DJ riders stomp big and/or technical tricks, maybe link a few together in a line but often their landings are less than perfect. I get it they have way more going on that requires all of their focus and often cant be troubled with making sure the angle of their bike is identical to the slope of the tranny on the landing and that their rear tire touches down EXACTLY the front did, but this guy . . . Some of the most buttery smooth landings to big tricks and creative gaps. I know this isnt an adjective that's often used to describe free riders, but I don't ont think I've seen such a graceful freeride in . . . ever. Pleasure to watch

 That was amazing to watch.

 Good post, good skill, balls bigger then king Kong.

 8.55 and 10.00, amongst others, taught me that anything can be a landing if you try hard enough.
  • 3 0
 Yes! some high-level riding here, but watching him save those squirrely landings is inspiring.
