Press Release: Velocity Hucking Systems

We've tried it all when it comes to home-made chainstay protection but nothing quite did the job or stood the test of time. At the end of last season, we decided to try our luck at creating our own product designed to keep our bikes as silent as possible. We are a small independent company based in Queenstown, New Zealand and we're aiming to be as eco-friendly as possible while supporting our local economy. As such, our slapper tape is made from natural rubber right here in New Zealand. Pre-orders available through our website now.

KC Till showing us how it's done.

We're almost as happy with our packaging as we are with our product.

Mateo putting is VHS Chain Guard to the test

Product Details:

• Length - 350mm Width - 25mm Height - 11mm
• $45 NZD / $26.28 USD / €24.10 EUR
• Preorders shipping from 4th April (Potential delays with Covid-19)
• One size fits all
• Clean and easy to install
• Long lasting and effective

Covid-19

Midway through filming our promo video the New Zealand government announced the country would reach Alert Level 4 (lockdown) for Covid-19. Unfortunately, this has meant we didn't have the chance to film on rougher terrain to showcase how quiet our product truly makes your bike. We also didn't want to ask riders to put themselves at any extra risk over this difficult time and potentially put extra strain on our healthcare system - a decision we firmly stand by. Currently our supply is limited due to the lockdown but as soon as it is relaxed our chains of supply will continue as normal.

Big fans of KC's work.

Solid video and bike throwback, I lusted over the Eliminator when I was a kid!! At least the price on this one isn't as insane as some past offerings, but folded mastic tape still does a fine job of the same thing. This looks a lot nicer though for sure

 Thanks!

@VHS: You guys are probably gonna get a lot of my money. All it took was one pass through the shop to cringe at my ghetto tape jobs
  • 3 0
@VHS: I see what you guys did release on April first to get the most views. Everybody is quarantined and logging in to see the shenanigans. Very smart Smile

Great product put me down for three next payday.

Cheers

@VHS: Why is it so expensive?
  • 6 1

  • 2 0
Thanks! we hope you enjoy it!
  • 1 0
@VHS: Have you guys had any luck sticking it to existing chain stay guards? was going to try and stick it on top of my santa cruz nomad guard since it offers some side protection and the top is extremely flat. or do you guys think it wouldnt stick as well?
  • 1 0
@qman11: Hey mate, we don't recommend it as we can't guarantee it will stick. BUT having said that I know a few peoplewith this same bike that have cleaned it down with brake cleaner and trimmed the edges. Thers a good example of this on our Inta Page. @vhs.mtb
  • 1 2
@qman11: just use the megatower chainstay guard, works well
  • 1 0
@senorbanana: why have a Toyota when you can have a Ferrari?

I've just launched my own solution to chain slap. I call it Butyl Enhanced Transmission Acoustics Maximum (or BETAMax for short). How's my timing?
  • 1 0
Killer video! and super stoked to see KC Till smashing it in a proper cut, and I thought I felt the ground shaking a little when he landed...those calves of destruction! Thanks @VHS and Ed Masters for giving KC Till a legit part and showing what that kid can do on a bike.

  • 7 0
@ctd07: We are going to say yes.
  • 1 0
Thansk to Corona I’m going to remove the rubber round things off my VCR and slap some mastic tape over it. Pretty much the same thing.
  • 2 0
Eddie Masters you win, seriously. I could not stop laughing and now i want to buy the product. What a guy.
  • 2 0
Finally, tired from mastic tape and non functional manufacturers designed Will buy
  • 1 0
I don't get it. Most bikes nowadays have stock protectors that quiet just as well. What happened to Lizard Skins? They're a lot cheaper and shut out the noise.
  • 2 0
dunno about u guys, but i feel like watching turbo kid for some reason.
  • 1 0
My bike came with chainstay shutter upper from the factory but I'll buy this just to have it because the packaging is rad.
  • 1 0

  • 2 0
 Heck yea KC!!!
  • 1 0
 Ed Masters is marketing gold.
  • 1 0
Great idea, very necessary product... disappointed with the price though.
  • 2 0
Price is cheaper than anything else on the market. Doing this stuff isn't cheap.
  • 1 0
Yeah, especaily starting up a business, pricing is normally very high. (What very small brands do you know that are super cheap?) however the pricing isn’t actually that much. You can get electrical tape at Walgreens for 14 usd, and so for a cool look, I wouldn’t call it overpriced.
  • 1 0
Anyone in the US get their orders delivered yet?
  • 1 0
Hey bud, you should have a tracking number. if not email us and we will look into this. thanks Postage is very slow though, classic pandemic stuff sorry
  • 1 0
@VHS: I do have one, it was shipped on the 5th and nothing has updated. NZ Post says it’s left and US Post says it’s waiting for arrival.

Thanks!
  • 1 0
@mlr428: no drama! any more issue feel free to email us at Info@vhsmtb.com

  • 1 1
Meh. Needs a better sound track
  • 1 2
Also i assume 2 zip ties included? Since glue will not last more then couple of weeks
  • 1 0
If you install it correctly, it will last you a long time. It's been tested.
  • 1 1
The packaging is just a direct rip-off of Muc Off's Rim Tape packaging
  • 3 0
We have been developing this long before Muc Off released anything actually. Fun fact we actually directly and accurately ripped of an old VHS cassett box from the 80s. Mucs Off box is very cool and most certainly approve of it, but its is rather different. Thanks again for you support!
  • 1 2
waste of money, just use a piece of inner tube and electric bands
  • 1 3
man, this stuff is so good that ed won't even run it on his own bikes!
  • 2 0
 Dude, it got released today!
  • 5 0
you have a keen eye for detail but, Ed has only recently gotten his hands on the product. Thanks for the support.
  • 5 0
He put it on his new friends bike. Selfless move, three thumbs up!
  • 1 0
@VHS: probably still trying to figure out how/why he's going to stick it over the switchblade's already great chainstay protector ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • 3 0
@novajustin: Yeah that thing is AWESOME! It's a shame not all bikes can have a great chainstay protector, if only there was a company offering a solution.
  • 1 0
@VHS: i'm not arguing your point there... just in regards to eddie and where he's going to put it on his switchblade.
