Episode 1: Elbow Grease

10 of the world’s best amateur riders arrive in Big White, British Columbia, and discover their new home: the Pinkbike Academy House.

After being greeted by the hosts and judges, the contestants are presented their custom painted, 2022 Orbea Rallon, which has been spec’d out by our sponsors. The athletes’ first challenge? To display their mechanical prowess by fixing a litany of unknown mechanical problems on their bikes, all while racing against the clock.Who will gain an early advantage and who will fall behind in the first episode of Pinkbike Academy Season 3?

 I can only handle so much autoplay at once...to play devils advocate...it falsely inflates their metrics which is probably a good thing overall (at least in the short term) and will get the mothership to invest more in content here.

 The autoplay I can live with. Its the video player that is larger than my monitor that gets me. If I hit full screen and the video shrinks someone fcked it up

 Plus the player is way too big and I can't make it smaller. As dazzling as Tarmo's green eyes are, I don't need them to be that close.

 Use an ad blocker - for example AdGuard extension in iOS for Safari will block this video and any ads on the page. You can select which blocks you want to delete. I get rid of the annoying animated gifs on the right side.

 Really looking forward to this. Interesting to see there will be a bit more focus on the personality / social aspects this time. That was a big shift from season 1 to season 2, and it looks like the pendulum is swinging back a little. Can't blame Orbea for that, I guess they get a lot more exposure from a rider who can work that social angle as well as being fast.

 I wish that they would have maybe 1-3 wildcard riders, bunch of these people are quite good, would be cool to see, just get a average joe that rides some pos 10-20 year old bike and just sends it in a t shirt and jeans.

 I think I’m aloud to say this. But basically there was one extra Male (me) and one extra female. The contestant and the extra both were hurt, and that’s why I was the last resort!

 Because they told me the day before leaving that I can’t compete (which was the right decision). They needed someone from Canada who doesn’t need a visa and who was available, like now.

 lol anybody noticed how the girls sleep in a dark room in bunk beds, while the boys have luxury twin beds with fluffy down covers? ^^

 ...but the guys pillows are all jacked so 60% of the field will have to pull themselves up by their shoelaces and overcome.

I also suspect the women's shorts will have an uneven hem or detached belt loop to even the odds.

It's not bmx...it's not gymnastics...it's Pillows vs Pantaloons.

 You know who had a BMX race background and was dreaming of becoming a pro motocross racer but the whole thing got derailed by becoming an actual rock star instead? Slash, the lead guitarist of Guns and Roses. He talked about it in an interview, mentioning he had a PK Ripper. It turned out the interviewer had also owned a PK Ripper so and you could hear both of them going to some effort to not have the interview just descend into a whole BMX discussion. I heard this on the radio while driving down from Whistler so would have been so up for that.

 I really liked the first two seasons. I really hope this doesn't become some sort of BigBrother or Real World type of show with the big house and hot tub and what not.

 Hey @brianpark I watched this last night work my wife (my usual riding partner) and we couldn't help but notice the contestant selection seemed . . . Weird.

Like Amanda, who we born liked, and we're both happy she didn't get canned but just truly has no business being in this competition.
Or Max, who wants to be a pro, but hasn't ever done a single race?

For the love of jank can we please choose better contestants. As my wife said, (who is not snarky) "ten riders, not sure about the 'best' part'."
And the huge focus on the injury and hardship of that seemed really over played.


We watched all three episode but overall found it fairly disappointing. I am truly not sure we'll tune in again based on the episode we watched.
