It hasn't been an easy journey to the top for Emil Johansson. Over the last couple of years he has battled adversity and this year at the Maxxis Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza at Crankworx Rotorua he laid down one of the best slopestyle runs in history.
@SupraKZ: When you are talking about riding in this level the same can be said for almost any stand alone trick. 360, barspin, tailwhip, etc. They are all easy for these guys.
@chyu: if Emil starts taking more wins and putting in the work.. give him less years than Semenuk and he could be just as good or better...that windshield wiper was only attempted by Brett and failed that trick last year at Joyride.... and another thing I don’t think a score of 96.00 has been done at a Crankworx Slopestyle event for at least 3 or 4 if not more years!!!! It would have been really interesting to have seen somebody challenge him at Rotorua tho! It would have been interesting to see what else he could have packed in! Maybe a added bar spin over the long and low or something but that’s about all!!! Nobody knows!
Battling adversity? He's battling EBV and Hashimotos- the disease that steals your energy and your mind, and over time a big part of your life. I'm married to someone with Hasimotos for 19 years and I've seen the theft firsthand.
What he's overcome will be a light of hope for many, definitely for my house. Watching his medical bio was a family event for us.
Number 1. His first run last year at cw Whistler was also like this. I thought he had won by the time he was down the hill. Insane! Best runs of all time!

Semenuk and Rheeder could not match this. We’ll never know huh?
