Video: Extended Edit from Cannondale & Ratboy

Jan 18, 2019
by Cannondale Bikes

Last week we announced that Josh Bryceland joined Cannondale with riders Max Nerurkar, Sam Cofano and Sam “Dave” Hockenhull. Today we've released the first extended edit from the newly formed team.

Filmed on location in Malaga, the riders made the most of the sunshine and unique riding locations to become acquainted with the new team format and bikes. Bryceland’s goal heading into 2019 with us is to “start something new, fresh and unexpected.” This trip only scratches the surface into what the team are planning.

All four riders chose the alloy Habit model for Spain to uncover what Malaga has to offer. With a little scouting, the boys managed to find some forgotten and hidden gems to put together this extended edit.

Check back soon for the Cannondale Team’s next trip.

It makes me horny that I got to click on this instead of “trek announces its nth team rider”

I’m actually their team rider for the fifth day of release, however unlike the other riders I have many hidden talents. I can troll, roost pies and blow out pints like no ones business

Speaking of Trek, I recognize that window drop from somewhere. Hmmm, where have I seen that before?

 @kjjohnson: not2bad

@kjjohnson: Yeah pretty famous spot now. Stoked to see it get ridden again

If i jump my habit like that and destroy the linkage, is it covered under warranty?
  • + 8
Depends on whether or not you were racing...
  • + 2
@ryan83: or is it whether or not you are sponsored

As a poor man i ride hardtail

Alex Rankin's videos always remind me of the old Props BMX series
  • + 6
Or old skate vids from late 80’s early 90’s, absolutely LOVE em! Makes you feel people were skating just for the love rather than the cash #hosoigotrobbed
  • + 8
@sewer-rat: Exactly my thoughts as well. These "Session" vids have a real 90s skate vid feel to them. Love them

The lack of kit is refreshing....
  • + 2
@pufi We need an MTB 'Road Fools'!!

Alex Rankin delivering yet again - only last night watched Earthed 4 for the first time in many years and it's got be said no-one presents our sport better... keep them coming Alex
  • + 2
If only he'd do more Earthed films. I'm not sure why he hasn't tbh.
  • + 3
@Neale1978: Earthed was kind of the equivalent of a Misspent Summers yearbook, documenting a year of riding/racing. But the audience required more frequent and immediate reports so the Parkin Bros did race reports on video and put them on the Dirt website. That kind of made Earthed obsolete. Or at least, it wasn't worth the risk of creating something like that when a huge part of the audience has already seen everything and watch it again with a mouseclick. Obviously I was bummed to and for 2008 I bought "The Tipping Point" from Clay Porter. It didn't quite do it for me. For many races just shots from the finish area whereas I'm mostly interested in the woods sections. And the "Rankin-feel" wasn't quite there either, obviously. Personally I'd love to see a return of the Earted series. I'm buying all the Misspent Summers books and I'd buy new Earthed dvds too. But I get that it is a tough market now having to compete with ten team videos per race.
  • + 1
Ahh right. I know what you mean about The Tipping Point. I've got Synopsis, and still quite like it. If Alex could do some sort of new one, with rider sections at particular places, with the right music, it'd be well worth it. Even with a new name, with a just few instalments would be sweet.
  • + 1
Didn't he have a falling out or something with the distributor when that 'Best of Earthed' DVD came out, which was a piss poor put together mess. Anyway, now there's too many restrictions on filming race runs and such like. Red Bull wouldn't allow anything like the Earthed films to be made nowadays. DH scene is lifeless these days anyway - wouldn't be as fun to watch :/

How is that collar bone not broken!? Mine broke just watching the edit.

 He’s northern

 It's all about the shorts

Manuals are a fickle mistress, have spent hours trying do clean all the back straight at brunty and have managed it like once! Excellent vid as always gents
  • + 34
No, manuals are the incredibly attractive woman who wouldn't acknowledge my existence even if I were strapped to the meteorite that hit her house.
  • + 2
@BenPea: I concur, as does my lower back
  • + 15
@BenPea: I'd go with the attractive girl that's giving you the green light look from across the bar, to whom you walk over with great intentions, then get punched square in the face by her husband.

Manuals are the equivalent to handbrake turns in cars.

 @mat-massini-media: manual is much harder

Holy shit that was sick. Insane steez and riding the whole time. No pointless commentary about where they're going or what they're doing

Seems really smart of Rat and Cannondale in terms of their approach to marketing. Skateboarding had kind of a similar path where it started as a sort of counterculture sport, but then got really commercial with contests becoming really important, but then kind of dying out for a while...then it came back and big video parts seemed to be most important, then FFW a bit and there is a combination of videos, contests, and tons of social media. Some skaters are more contest oriented and some more social media. The point is that it becomes possible for more of the talented riders out there to make good money without having to be a top 5 free rider or racer. Just creates way more room. And selling more bikes by making them more accessible certainly adds to the base from which the riders can make an income. Who knows? Anyway, I think it’s pretty cool and maybe a sign of interesting things to come for the sport.
  • + 4
Wicked video. Just talented riders pushing limits. Smart move by Cannondale to hire/give bikes to these lads.
  • + 1
Bangin edit that shows the Rat has his passion for riding back and the crew is top notch and competent each other so well. I also thought Josh rode For Suspension, but appears to running Pikes!!! Keep it up guys, 2019 should be a great year.
  • + 4
This looks like a bunch of kids on bikes that are waay to big for them. they would shred 26 inchers soooo hard

So when are the replacing the Cannondale Chase with the Cannondale Bryce!? Would love another smooth welded beaut of a dj frame!
  • + 1
Rankinnnn. It shows. To reiterate an old old point from Team ROBOT. Racers are better riders. Going fast is better than doing skids and Josh is fast.
  • + 4
 tight.

 “Release the extended?”
“Yes. They didn’t click enough the first time, Damnit!”
  • + 1
One thing I have noticed is that when ever you see a rider, putting skateboard clips in their bike videos the riding is way more creative!
