bigquotesFun little RAW Edit we put together back in summer on Pro Line in Saalbach. Still one of the most fun park lines to shred, especially with a drone chasing you!Fabio Wibmer

Thanks for keeping the raw sound without adding any shitty music.

I`d be curious to see just for once or twice what Fabio would do against rockets like Pierron, Bruni, Brosman, Hart and such... I`m not sure he would do that joke with his watch at the end...

Well at whistler Air DH last year he came 66th so I guess not very well is your answer
  • 4 1
Also loved the sound, wonder if he strapped a microphone to the bike for that quality of tire and chain noise?!
  • 4 1
@landscapeben: That's just a good sound engineer on set and in post. No way that's an 'on board' mic.
  • 6 0
He once won the Austrian DH championships some years ago, so he indeed is quick.
Just, if it wouldn't have started raining, he probably wouldn't have made it to the podium.

So, while he is quicker than an average park rider, a real racer still is quicker, especially a WC racer. (which are quicker than most Austrian DH racers, except Trummer, Pekoll and Kolb. (and Vali, of course!) Wink

@landscapeben: in the behind the scenes video for Wibmer's Law he mentions he rides with an onboard mic from Jabra for improved bike audio. May be slightly different with how harsh the DH bike would be or even the range the receiver can pick up, but I'm willing to bet he kept on on-board during this video, if anything, to layer additional audio tracks.

Check it out at 16:18

@roboberto825: thanks, that's what I would of guessed for the consistent quality of sound Beer
  • 2 0
@dodgems: You think they added squeaky bike noises in post?? lol
  • 1 1
@bbqmike: Watch shows 3:31 , but vidéo is at 3:13, and we dont talk about that??
  • 1 0
 Exactly @MaxKMercer:
  • 1 0
@bbqmike: Well, you can't hear the drone in any of the sound, so some of it, definitely.

It would be pretty crap if they just dropped the soundout completely for the bits they didn't get a clean recording on.

Am I the only one who cant stop thinking about how does he get back up to his car?
  • 1 0
 Hahahaha!
  • 1 0
 Meh, double post.
  • 1 4
 It's not a car...it's a MERCEDES Wink
  • 2 0
Gets on his Up Hill bike?
  • 1 1
There's a perfectly good gondola there, too! Just slap a Mercedes sticker on it
  • 20 0
that overshoot/huck to flat was gnarly.

anyone remember when a bird broke fabio's nose on a rollercoaster? same guy, right?
  • 8 0
Totes. Also, I heard he can't believe it's not butter.

On the cover of a Mountain bike romance novel!
  • 19 0
See, Fabio doesn't leave his bike in the van, he takes it into his room. Lesson learned!

 too soon but true

Dude is bad ass and sends it! but when they call it "pro line" I was expecting to see the huge jump lines that are designated "pro line" at the bike parks. Like Crankworx size.
  • 3 0
Yea this was sick riding and a freaking rad edit but in no way would I consider this a Pro line. CGP and Whistler's pro lines include pretty large, technical gap jumps as well other features that I was expecting to see to no prevail...
  • 6 0
The area of Saalbach is more trail orientated so that average Joe also has fun. But since it has some drops and jumps in it, Joe should think about it and if he reads "pro line" he might. If you want bigger stuff, Leogang is right around the corner.
  • 6 0
There are several sizable wooden features in the pro line not shown in the video. I guess Fabio thought he could get better footage on alternative lines that are not in the woods.

This is pretty much the "chicken" line but at full speed, as you see he overshot everything.
  • 3 0
I've ridden this trail. It's not as easy as it looks (wait for it) because a PRO is riding it
  • 1 0
Maydena's Pro line would make this look like ripples of sand on a beach!
  • 1 0
Man, Pinkbike viewers are so harsh... It's not Rampage, but it's still mint.
Like @shoshy said, Fabio chose these features to give us a cool video and it's not like he took it easy that overshoot-to-flat huck was hectic.
Maybe just Pinkbike over-titling a cool RAW edit?

i remember him taking the brown grandma bike down this
  • 6 0
So good. I'm thinking maybe the scrub might be dethroned by going really fuckin deep.
  • 6 0
Go fast, pull up, land flat, skid through corners. Dude knows how to have fun.
  • 3 0
Yeah... why bother to use the gondola that is running next to the track and exits right at its start?!
Instead, use the car to go around the hill to reach the top of the track, then use the gondola to get to the car that's been left at the top and then drive it back down...

I know... sponsors want their names and products in the videos... But I guess there would have been some more eco-friendly way...

Nice riding, though...!

 You are a twat...
  • 4 1
@curendero: I'm fine with that... but why the harsh language?
Could you maybe evaluate a bit more, why you think this is necessary, and what your assumption is based of?

I thought 29ers were hard to maneuver...?

The review of the v10 said it last week. lol

@MikeyMT: They're trash. Imagine how good the riding could have been if he was on 26.
  • 7 1
@chriskneeland: Omg totes. Imagine if he was on a bmx. #20inchaintdead
  • 1 0
In not so distant past, they were...
  • 1 0
@garneau565: They have those websites. Check them out. You'll never want to watch another 29er edit again.
  • 1 0
Just go for skate wheels on bikes, and unleash the full manoeuvrability potential!
  • 1 0
 @chriskneeland: boop....boop, for real!
  • 2 1
When pro riding doesn't look much better than your own (except some amplitude and speed here and there), you know there's a lot of improvement to be done on the line. It is sad - although understandable, businesswise - that Saalbach/Hinterglemm is started catering to the beginner, with opening highway trails and whatnot, than improving their more technically challenging lines. Get some new / bigger features in there guys!
  • 2 0
My impression of the whole area is that they're doing just what you said: trying to cater to the broadest group.
Not to say I haven't had fun at parks in Austria, but the lack of maintenance and general trail building knowledge doesn't make me itch to get back. Would rather drive just a little farther...
  • 1 2
Idk about real life, but this trail looks like a snoozefest on video. I can see Ebikes pushing this kind of beginner trail nonsense outside of the bike parks. Challenging trails will be a thing of the past.
  • 1 0
Have any of you actually ridden this trail? A well produced video by a pro can make any pro line look easy. Personally, I can ride pretty much any trail (i said ride, i didn't say clean), and I had a difficult time clearing a fewof the jumps on the Pro Line when I was there a few years ago. Not as easy as it looks in the video. Granted, I was going in blind and only got to ride it once. I found X Line to be my favorite trail there, on the Hinterglemm side
  • 1 0
 @the-lorax:

Yes, I go to Saalbach every once in a while and know the trails. That's why I commented.

Sick edit! Sick riding! (as usual)

I'm impressed at how they kept the drone sound out of the video. You can kinda hear it in a few parts but for most of the video where the drone was following you couldn't hear it at all. This impressed me the most. WELL DONE!
  • 3 0
I've been doing jumps all wrong--I thought I was supposed to land on the sloped backside of the jump but it turns out that's for pansies.
  • 1 0
Nice! really like the POV edited in with all the other footage. Very cool. (would like to see shots of the drone following him, looks like it gets pretty close now and then!)

End of video, what he really did was check his watch to see how long it was going to take him to push his bike all the way back up to where he parked the van... Smile
  • 1 0
Not the most exciting video, but the sound was good. I'll bet not many thought about the fact you have to use audio from a different run to get rid of the drone buzzing noise.
  • 3 0
Sending that bridge gap so deeeeep! Wibmer is an animal!
  • 2 0
Interesting to watch him huck the jumps that the wc racers scrub...man he goes deep.
  • 1 0
I've never watched a bike video before and spent more time thinking about how they flew the drone so well instead of how they rode the bike so well
  • 1 0
I preferred when he ripped the grandma bike.... but I guess this is ok ????
  • 2 0
God help me, but that drone footage was so freakin' cool.
  • 2 0
Wow insane drone footage, mind you the hole edit was rad and raw!
  • 2 0
awesome job by who's piloting the drone ! insane sendin !
  • 1 0
The only thing cooler than the drone footage was his bike! Love that color scheme
  • 3 2
gtf out of the way you pos puddle
  • 1 0
"Smashed on dh bike" He did it on a f*cking trials bike
  • 1 0
Nice mix of drone and other footage!
  • 1 0
Did you say proline or flow line? Nice HTFs regardless
  • 1 0
Yeah the pro line is a mellow flowtrail.. really good though! I think they call it pro line mainly because they keep timed records of it for fun and giggles.
  • 3 0
You may think it looks like a flow trail, which it's supposed to be, until you ride it and realize you have to double the braking bumps because they are bigger and deeper than moto whoops.
  • 1 0
@ssteve: spot on, I rode it in late August and my hands are still numb now
  • 2 1
 Those drone shots are awesome
  • 1 0
WOW very impressing skills and speed! Awesome! RideOn!
  • 1 0
 Radd! Thanks for the show
  • 1 0
Soooo... Fabio Wibmer can ride. Who knew?
  • 1 0
Guy rides a park run. More news at 11?
  • 1 0
Guy rides a pretty exceptional park run. I'd watch another at 11?
  • 2 0
So no more whistler edits Big Grin
  • 1 0
Too much air, not staying low, not enough backside, having too much fun!
  • 1 0
Man he went balls deep on those jumps.
  • 1 0
I must admit that for a trial rider It's a pretty good performance.
  • 2 0
 pretty boring
  • 1 0
 What brand is his watch?
  • 1 0
 Sick!
