Video: First Tracks on Schladming's New Jump Line

Oct 23, 2019
by Siegi Zellner

Every biker knows Schladming, even the World Cup pros love the fast and natural track. In 2019, the track got a complete rebuild, a new lift and new tracks! Mani Widmann and Siegi Zellner got the chance to film together with Björn Hunger one of the first projects on the new jump line in Schladming.

The video is about dreams bikers have after watching good old bike movies. Most of them know the feeling you have after it, you just want to get out there and shred as hard as the pros in the movie. The boys, Siegi and Mani, have exactly the same feeling, but is it possible that this dream becomes reality…? Take a look for yourself.

Björn Hunger
“After a few projects with Siegi and Mani, it was nice to get back together to shoot this video on the new track in Schladming. Especially because the all-new track there is nice to ride as well as to film!”

Manuel Widmann
“It was the first project since last year together with Björn and Siegi and I was pumped to get it all started on the new track in Schladming. In the end, all comes together perfectly, the weather, the track, the people who are involved in the project and the result is great. And of course the highlight of the shoot was the jump into the lake on top of the mountain, man, this was a feeling, can’t describe!”

Siegi Zellner
“My personal highlight was the “double-whip” together with Mani, which worked perfectly synchronously on the second first try & of course the jump into the water which cost me a lot of nerves because the water was f*cking cold. But, we are still alive!”

Manuel Widmann:
Mani is an 24year old austrian Sportsman who spends every second in the mountains. In winter he is searching for pow to ski and in summer he is searching for new tracks and lines to shred with his bike. If you don’t find Mani at home, go check the nearest single trail or bikepark, you will find him…

Siegi Zellner:
A real Bavarian mountain bike kid who's 24 years old. He licked blood in XC and then switched to downhill. His uncompromising style on the bike and his amusing youtube videos are definitely irreplaceable in the German downhill gravity scene. Mani and Siegi are teammates since day one, they have nearly the same speed and they love to spend time on the bikes together.

Björn Hunger:
A truly talented 21-year-old young man from Austria who does filmmaking with such a passion and love. The magical Björn films kind of everything that's fun, cool or provides luminous betrayers eyes.

 @WAKIdesigns: Schlad-melad-ming-ding-dong

I think it just looks that way because there is no drainage on the sides. Looks amazing with the forest floor coming right up to the trail!

Always nice when something happens in Austria, but imo Tracks like these are more like DJ than mountainbiking.
  • 2 1
They have a big variaty of tracks! from natural to single tracks to smooth jumplines...

@Sickfried: since the park was closed for this season, were they also working on the other trails? just asking because they only advertise the new jumpline.

@Ratz90: good luck hitting that on a DJ. If you raced BMX then yeah pleaee do, if you haven’t may God have mercy over your ankles, knees and lower back in case you overjjump it. And who cares, it’s super cool to fly.

@Ratz90: i think there is also a new flowline and a new uphilltrail...

@WAKIdesigns: true words...and of course the bigger ones will be tricky ^^

@Sickfried: Dat speed wobble you sometimes get when landing a DJ a bit too far down the landing a bit too nose heavy and a bit sideways... that - falling from 1.5-2m higher at 15-29 km/h faster. Destroyed in miliseconds. Want to carve the top of the lip for a whip at 30-40km/h with 71 static head angle? weeeeeeee

Looks like the rampage course. Amirite?!?

Soil there looks mint for building. They even put the organics back on the side of the trail. Attention to detail

I was thinking "what the hell type of soil is that?" those lips are perfect, but it looks like crushed aggregate...

"...even the World Cup pros love the fast and natural track."

Yes, and then you destroy the natural track and build a motorway!

The trail on the video isn't the DH track.
  • 7 1
like @Pedro404 says, the natural Track is still existing but they added a few new tracks...
  • 4 1
@Sickfried: according to the text "the track got a complete rebuild". badly written press release.
  • 1 1
@Pedro404: Sorry... didn't mean to neg-prob you! Can't change it afterwards, though...
  • 1 1
@HenkkaK: no, most of the parts are rebuild, but the track is the same it was last year...they have to do it because of a new liftline.

So there isn't any mistake in the meaning of the press release!

 So happy for those kids!

 What bikes are they on???

 Looks like an Alutech Sennes.

By moderns standards 80mm of travel too much in the front and 100 too much in the rear. Also no semi slicks in the rear and no water bottles, to finish off with the fact that if you have so much travel, the rear wheel will smash the saddle bag. Waste of our time really. Hitting double black diamonds on upforked xc bikes is where it’s at these days
  • 2 0
Yes, Alutech Sennes. (V3 prototypes, I think)

 Alutech Cycles Sennes 3.0 Smile
