Video: Flow State with Joel Ducrot

Slowly, the ritual starts. The same ritual, every time, it’s been this way for years and will remain this way for longer. My mind circles thoughts of the trail ahead. The moments ahead are everything as much as they are nothing. The sum of cognition, where there is no distinction between thought and action.

The self-aware mind leaves the party. You can’t force it, it has to flow. The ego falls away; fully immersed in the moment. The power of my subconscious guides the wheel in front of me. Thoughts are movements, cognition is action.

The culmination of thousands of years of evolution into this moment of flow. Timeless until you become aware of your awareness, back into the real-world, action and thinking are now separate forms, occupying different plains… action delayed from thought.

Elements of your conscious are stripped away, focused, primal… this is how we hunted lions.

Time is a theoretical construct and not a physical reality. Our subjective experience of time is highly variable, changing drastically with our circumstances. As we get immersed in the moment and enter the flow state our perception of time eventually becomes irrelevant. Lacking the cognitive capacity to be, observe, and understand our relation to ‘time’.

The on slot of modernity, everything, everywhere, all the time. It’s inescapable, who knew The Eagles could see so accurately into the future, ‘prisoners of our own device’.

Looking back at those moments; tough to explain but easy to relive. Without the lust for a result an action becomes pure. Our very own moment of pure joy. Nourishment for inspiration that cultivates the consciousness. Soon enough the hunger returns for the next split seconds of freedom. A thought, a spark to light the next great fire.

I was like, 'yes this is a big build up, it's gonna drop any time' then it was over....I got a bit dizzy, thought I needed my glasses. Please show more.....

Like a scene from 'American werewolf in London' I feel like he's going to come over all hairy and suddenly be riding naked through the woods in pursuit of a deer...

Riding starts at... at... any second now... wait for it... THE END.

I would prefer to see one of the freeriders ripping this thing properly, this Stranger Things stuff doesn't do it for me at all - you can't even see what is going on.

This is the only decent video I've seen that shows what the Ransom is capable of, the rest seem like artsy crap to be honest. youtu.be/gyJJrXTXiC4?t=67

@m3000: ya... dude's absolutely flying, but perfectly manicured bermed turns don't display what the bike is capable of.

@twentyfos: it's a World Cup DH track, yeah it's had some work to the berms but it's steep and fast as hell!

 I feel sick

That was turrble. It's like they hired the cameraman from Borne 2 and 3, then put him on a balancing board and turned off camera stabilization. I get that shaky cam can convey a feeling, but this was just so extreme it was completely unwatchable.

 Truly turrible!

That is why you should never give a camera to 8 year old boy.

The beginning scene/shot was interesting. I was trying to figure out how the camera kept circling around the rider as he was riding. This was the best part of the video in my opinion.

I'll admit the rest of the video was a bit jarring. If they did a little bit of that motion blur and chaotic scene for just a bit but then transition over to some regular scenes of the rider and the bike I think it would have told the story better. Rather than just having it continue to the very end.

I think if they were trying to capture the experience of flow state they kinda missed the mark- the point of flow is not a dizzying disconnect but rather being fully present with the experience- kinda the opposite of the opium high depicted here. Finding a way to show the rider immersed in the experience of biking on a trail might have done a better job. Further, if this is an ad, it panders to the same marketing dribble of selling a feeling and not a product. If you want to use "flow" as a place this bike can get you fine- but at least tell us a bit more about how this bike might be a better vehicle to achieve flow than others. Might work for some...but I wasn't a fan. Glad they got that Scott logo in focus though...

 Too much.

I must not be riding fast enough... If that's what my "flow state" felt like I wouldn't make it down a trail without tossing my breakfast.

Full face. Googles. Jacket. Bare hands. We're going to look back on this time in mountain biking and see only fashion victims.

Could've been hooded figures kidnapping someone --> asks for a ransom and the victim brings them the bike?

Poor grammar call-out, sorry I have too.
Onslaught not “on slot”

The rising state of awareness which then becomes the “zone.” I feel the edit captures that well.
