3:00 The crash on the log.....must appreciate the artistry of such perfect fail execution
Watching this mans soaker was pure cinematic joy..

High res camera. artistically set up to perfectly display the scenery and the sketchy bit that's about to be ridden

None of this 1/2 frame vertical cell phone camera garbage or go pro fish eye. Take notes before your next gap jump....this is how to film a fail.....

that was seriously a beautiful shot. when hes bear-hugging the log, you could just take that shot and frame it. *chefs kiss
  • 6 0
It couldn't have been any better.
  • 4 0
I was sure that i was going to see some chiclets flying through the air in slow-mo HD glory...
  • 5 0
Did Ryan Gibb have a hand in this? It truly was the most beautiful thing.....props to all involved
  • 2 1
Should have just let go...its only water. But that is great camera work!
  • 4 0
 It's @mikelevy isn't it?
  • 3 0
you can see his right arm coming in under the log for a hug. my taint hurts just watchng the rest.
  • 6 0
the beauty of the shot only highlights the comedy value, 10/10
  • 1 0
@krager: thought the same for a second, but no tattoos
  • 2 0
The little fish fin flipper splash going right to left like a large mouth bass breaking the surface...magical
  • 4 0
I love the hand coming up out of the water to continue the grab.
  • 8 0
OK, admit it... Who else did a chefs kiss after reading @sooner518 comment?
  • 1 0
@craigcraig: just going to say the same... Magical Beer
  • 2 0
 Save a frame as POY
  • 1 0
my all fails are filmed like that, and in slowmo too Wink
  • 1 0
to fulfill the epicness of the fail I miss a crocodile observing the action... that was a top quality fail
  • 48 0
Seeing all those bent rims makes me want to get tacos.
  • 3 0
Same and it's not even Tuesday!
  • 1 0
 Queue lebron
  • 1 0
try the carbon tortilla, bounces back everytime
  • 38 0
 Wow! Those bar ends!
  • 5 0
cringe whenever i see anyone riding with those wrist snappers on anything other than a fireroad
  • 6 0
I thought he was going to break his wrists on those
  • 10 0
He'd failed before he even got on his bike.
  • 11 0
Hands so close together, I thought he was clapping
  • 18 0
He's clipped in. . . on his hands
  • 3 0
So true...takes me back to the early XC days along with elastomer forks and Vee brakes.
  • 6 0
A couple weeks ago I was driving home from work and saw a guy riding a bmx with bar ends on it. He even had them pointing strait up. I'm still a little traumatized, to be honest.
  • 7 0
@streetfighter848: Quadra 21R, bright purple bar ends, center-pull canti brakes, slime in the tubes, 3x7 drivetrain, 71 degree head tube angle, 120mm stem, and so, so many endos.
  • 4 0
@alexhyland: That was enduro like 25 years ago!
  • 2 0
@gomeeker: ♫ hitting the ground hard, to the sounds of wrists snapping. If you ever forget it's not 1992, you'll be painfully reminded when the bar-ends come for you. ♫
  • 5 0
I feel like you are all underestimating him and they are actually flip bars like you see on FMX bikes.
  • 1 0
@melanthius: ah yes, when bikes were bikes
  • 1 0
@bigtim: dang it how did i not draw the same conclusion
  • 31 2
How may separated shoulders and collarbones do I see broken every week? It should be a requirement to submit the injury sustained with each video and then it could be posted in text in the bottom right corner of each clip. Data data data.
  • 7 0
This week seemed particularly aggressive about collar bones....stack after stack.
  • 9 0
I'm already 4 months out from my collarbone break + Grade 4 separated shoulder and no freaking way am I going to be to hitting anything I'm not 100% sure in for a while. My resolve renews every Friday.
  • 1 0
@pmhobson: heal up, don’t you hear that gap calling you?
  • 3 0
Broke my collarbone about a month ago, my insides tingle when I see these peeps crashing like that.
  • 2 0
@rivercitycycles: LOL. Sure don't. But I do hear the siren song of some fairly big drops (that I've hit 100x).
  • 1 1
@juanjcardenas: For real. A couple of months ago on FF a dude shoulder checked a tree going Mach Crazy and I almost felt sick.
  • 2 0
Im watching this with a broken collar bone
  • 1 0
@pmhobson: took me 4 months to start easy riding after my nasty break in late December. Still not 100% committed. Rode the BP yesterday and starting to feel looser but still skipping larger jumps and features. I’m 51 so this most recent injury was kinda a wake up. It’s taking longer to forget LOL.
  • 1 0
@swellhunter: I hear ya man. I was out at my spot last night (on my hardtail no less). Rode up to about a 5-ft drop that I've hit so many times, but the landing has changed such overshooting is less of an option.

Decided I'd wait until my FS is back up and running. Mechanical courage, let's call it.
  • 25 2
Loving how berms have had enough of being schralped and are just kicking people off now.

As soon as they see the finger going for the brake mid-berm "Bam! You're out. Who's next?"
  • 25 1
Anyone that mentions braking when schralping a turn 100% hasn't schralped a turn.
  • 6 0
 Username checks out.
  • 26 3
Please don't let me hit the log - not the log - please no... ... I love this log - I'm never letting this log go...
  • 20 0
This week’s Friday Fails brought to you by the front lip of landings. “If you can’t huck it, stuff it”.
  • 1 0
Hmmm, looks like there's no way I'm making it to the transition. Oh well, guess I'll go ahead and push my front tire down anyway...
  • 15 4
After the last 20 friday fails I am finally starting to understand why so many people wear full face helmets and enough pads to look like robocop. Still trying to wrap my head around how much bike repairs for this gotta run. Let alone health insurance Deductible... I guess not crashing violently went out of style at some point and i missed the memo. I see the same skiing. So many wearing body armor, mouth pieces, full face helmets, and by gawd they need it.
  • 26 0
Free healthcare makes a world of difference Big Grin
  • 2 5
Haha, so true, most of the knights in the all that armo(u)r are dads/moms trying to keep up with their badass little sons and daughters.
  • 16 0
@OceanPhil: I'm all padded out because I want to keep riding and working.
  • 12 0
@rrolly: Yeah, at my age, I no longer bounce.
  • 3 0
@rrolly: I've worn a light full face for years and doing so has saved my chin twice on totally unexpected crashes. I'd say it has proved well worth it. Started wearing lightweight pads in the last year as an extension of that principle, not because I'm tackling crazy terrain.
  • 2 0
@Mayzei: Free or not, if you're busted you're busted!
  • 3 0
I have made plenty of skin sacrifices to the trail gods, I'll let others take over.
  • 2 2
@Mayzei: No such thing a free! All energy must be conserved, it’s physics
  • 2 0
Haha yeah I also now ride all armored up. I look absolutely insane out on the trail but I'd rather do that and get to ride than wear nothing and one fall puts me out of commission for weeks and weeks. Can't seem to bounce right back up like when I was a teen or my 20's.
  • 2 0
I wear a full face (Fox Proframe) on all of my rides now after I lost/broke 5 teeth in a crash. Can't smash my face again, or its going to be much much harder to fix it. I like solid food...
  • 13 0
more dead sailors than the titanic
  • 4 0
@bananowy: fkn lol bud, I've just spat my post ride beer across the table! I've gotta get a set of them!
  • 7 0
 1:55 - worst head hit i've seen in a while. I don't think he'll get back on a bike for a bit.....
2:40 - ahhhh.....we're good. LOL! We've all said that.
3:10 - logdrivers waltz....if you know, you know.
3:40 - again, we have all been there. glad he hit the eject button, and his buddies were there for moral support (ball busting).
  • 1 1
ya i was going to say 1:55 looked like a real bruiser ...
  • 1 0
I know the guy real well, he cut up his legs with the pedal spikes and ate alot of dirt, but was perfectly fine.
  • 7 0
A lot of strange sounds in this Friday Fails...
  • 6 0
Like most Friday nights for me
  • 5 1
Oh Collonade @1:21, probably slid out in human feces, thanks Seattle! I liked the 'Greece' tag, its a great game to guess the country with all the languages going on in Friday Fails!
  • 12 0
The fact that the 'Greece' rider was headed for disaster but managed to pull out a very wobbly recovery......was that some kinda metaphorical thing?
  • 2 0
Or got multiple needle sticks! Most dangerous place to ride in WA state
  • 1 0
Poor Mike Westra probably shaved a couple of years off his life digging in that toxic moon-dust. You shoulda seen the 55-gallon sharps disposal barrel!
  • 6 0
At 2:27, even the dog knows that it's not likely to go well.
  • 1 0
That guy got pounded! Seemed massively violent for how small drop was.
  • 1 0
Pausing the video, it looks like the rider's left hand somehow slipped off the bar right as they went off the drop. Their weight shifted forward, which caused them push with the remaining hand and steer hard left before the landing. Rider may have also met the end of their bars since it was now pointed right at them.
  • 3 0
Lots to love in this week's Fails. The slo-mo log-hug-into-river was a beautiful shot reminiscent of a David Attenborough nature documentary. I could almost hear him narrating the action. Meanwhile in Greece...
  • 5 0
 Greece-y trail conditions at 2:01.
  • 4 0
when I see a fails video start with a person riding a bike with bar ends, you instantly have my full attention
  • 3 0
riders that go nose heavy official outfit: t shirt, basketball shorts, no knee pads
  • 3 0
Soooo many people getting taken for a ride by their bike. That and limp noodle arms.
  • 3 0
"Let the ibis do the job"
  • 1 0
Man the last minute of this week came really strong, hard to top the guy on the log, but liked the guy straight falling side ways off the trail and the guy who bailed on the slab to ladder at the worst moment.
  • 1 1
2:07 is something I've done a few times on tight banked turns...I can feel it coming and try to avoid that launch but not sure what exactly what I did wrong...I"m assuming way too much front brake and the tire grabs?
  • 7 3
No that a*shole was trying to "cutty" the berm ie make it shittier. He got what he deserved
  • 1 0
1:53 is like if you take all the conventional wisdom / knowledge on jumping technique and do the exact opposite........there’s your result ????
  • 1 0
I'm good friends with the guy and he was worried about not clearing the jump so he came in waaayyy to fast.
  • 3 0
1:28 - Winner of the "Big Slams on Small Jumps" contest.
  • 2 0
so much damage for such a small bump. Beautiful.

Was 1:39 filmed by Mickey Mouse?

  • 4 0
Never pull up but push the front out
