That Bender-style drop was an unambiguous win and he was right to get up and claim it.
  • 21 1
Yes that needs to be in the Saturday sends as well Smile
  • 7 0
How can he think Landing on soft Sand ???
  • 4 1
 lack of faith...
  • 39 0
The real question is ... does he also show up later jumping off a building?
  • 3 0
 @dllawson819: I'm pretty sure you're right. At 2:26?
  • 10 0
Got a bit of OG vibes to those clips, love it
  • 5 0
I think he made a second appearance too jumping off the building XD
  • 1 0
 Same guy as at 2:25?
Also, not sure you can claim it if ya don’t stick it?!Wink ... like buddy at 3:23!
So entertaining
  • 1 0
 @Gregmurray50: thought the same !!
  • 3 0
@dllawson819: Yes - both those were Bender Beauties! Long live Bender!
  • 4 0
@trickland: Bender din't stick the Jah drop, yet he's world famous for it.
  • 2 0
 @JanB: exactly.
  • 5 0
@dllawson819: Yeah that's definitely him. Same dude in a leather jacket in the foreground in both clips. I want to learn more about both of them now.
  • 5 0
@briceshirbach: I'm starting to wonder now if it's some of those Russian "streetetz" riders.
  • 2 0
And it looks like he was on a hardtail with a Monster T! Awesome.
  • 10 0
Wait. It IS some of the "streetetz" folks. There's a photo of the first huck (at 0:45s) about 1/3rd down the page about their whole scene here:
www.pinkbike.com/news/montster-t-russia-vintage-freeride.html

Direct photo link here:

The rider is named "LVN"

EDIT- and I was wrong above, it appears they are predominantly Ukranian.
  • 2 0
 Yes.

Benderism was strong with today’s crowd.
  • 2 0
@tbmaddux: quadruple upvote. I really enjoyed that.
  • 4 0
@tbmaddux: I don't know if you're the hero we wanted, but you're definitely the hero we needed. Amazing.
  • 3 0
One more thing... the photo and videos are originally from @stritsefer and you can see more here (I don’t know why I cannot tag him with his username):

@briceshirbach thanks!
  • 1 0
 Absolutely. Awesome comment.
  • 2 0
 @tbmaddux: wow, man! It's co cool )))
  • 1 0
 @BartDM: leap of faith?
  • 53 0
If I don't make it into the Saturday sends tomorrow, then I'll see you guys next friday!
  • 22 1
Comment of the day: He fell again.....
  • 1 0
 I couldn't agree more!
  • 16 0
The guy at 1:55 got his bell rung
  • 6 0
 Definitely straight to concussion protocol.
  • 2 0
About that one: he seems like he went OTB because he stopped pedaling pretty late (same for one of the first fails in this video). I am trying to carefully improve my jumping technique, so what would expert jumpers advise here?
  • 4 0
@rayme: Start small, build up. Get the run in set and then repeat and repeat to get muscle memory. Then work on going bigger without going faster, so giving it pop. Also work on going faster but not going big, so squashing the jump.
  • 12 1
@rayme: As an OTB expert, I'll just copy this in each week. medium.com/@Duffsam/mountain-biking-the-dead-sailor-a-physics-perspective-8ed023d7a85a
You can see that they did not pump the jump.
  • 1 0
@rayme: I can't recommend doing Ryan Leech's Jump Course. It's under Ryan Leech Connection (maybe rlc.com???) It helped me so much.
  • 1 0
I see what you did there
  • 1 1
Always push into the lip with your legs; Never pull off the lip with your arms.

Fluidride has some great instructional vids right now.

  • 1 0
 @alwaysOTB: that was brilliant, thanks!
  • 2 0
@alwaysOTB: man this is fantastic!! great job, I never thought of it this way
  • 2 0
@samoyurets: Thank the author, not me. I also found it to be a great explanation.
  • 1 0
@rayme: Snap - I should've checked my message before posting. RLC jump course is HIGHLY recommended. It's broken down into really easy to follow progressive steps. So good.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality Friday Fails. After watching the Remy video I was feeling pretty damn confident.
  • 9 0
Quick public service announcement for anybody using the FRIDAY free shipping code on notubes.com: Go ahead and choose UPS Ground if you're in the U.S., or USPS Priority Mail International if you're in Canada. Those are the ship methods that get zeroed out by the code.
  • 2 1
I like and use your product, but I can’t imagine that anyone was waiting for a promotion like this to pull the trigger on a purchase. I think a % off coupon code would have been a better strategy. My 2 cents. Again love the product and not trying to throw shade. Just not too excited about free shipping, which would be a given if I just ordered through a vendor of yours.
  • 3 0
@speed10: We hear you. It's tough because we don't really want to compete with bike shops. We want to remind everybody to check sealant this time of year, but local shops are really where we actually want to see everybody buying our sealant and supporting their local riding communities whenever possible.

2:34 - When water appears in Friday Fails, the only question is, how big is the splash?
  • 5 0
 Also, this multiple choice:
a) the rider
b) the bike
c) both
d) false alarm
  • 9 0
I think the first rider got shot.
  • 3 0
 human skeet machine
  • 2 0
Was wondering what the bang was? shock exploding?
  • 7 0
 Trailbuilder 1: "Bro. Let's make a 40' table."
Trailbuilder 2: "Sickness. How wide should we make it?"
Trailbuilder 1: "Uhhhhh, like 2 feet wide maybe?"

Red Jacket Huck to flat guy is my new HERO!
  • 1 0
Then the next two red jacket fails made me rethink my riding wardrobe.
  • 8 0
 In Russia, flat huck you.
  • 3 0

Did that first guy get shot mid-air?
  • 2 0
Hahaha sounded like it but was probs just hit by shrapnel from his exploding rim...
  • 1 0
he was the skeet and the shooter was just off camera. gottem good i reckon.
  • 2 0
 Audio was out of sync.
  • 6 2
One thing that always amazes me with these fails over the years, the number of people doing jumps where there's a tree or a boulder dead center where you need to land.

Guy #1: Hey, lets build a jump
Guy #2: Okay, how about over here where there's some "run-out"
Guy #1: No, that's no good, put it over here in front of this giant tree
  • 4 2
If you don’t know the line, scout it. Not every drop is a big, wide park feature.
  • 4 0
I feel like your standard FF slam comes in 5 basic forms: 1) Weight too far forward, 2) Too much brakes, 3) Trying to stop the bike instead of riding it out, 4) Not enough speed, 5) Off balance before the lip, or a combination of all 5 - not that many are from just pushing too hard?
  • 3 0
I’ve seen this a few times. People taking a foot off because they think they are going to crash, which then guaranties the crash (1:14). Sometimes they are riders who look like they know what they are doing (the tall wood drop). Is their a reason to do this? Is it a panic reaction?
  • 1 0
It's so you don't crash onto the bike, which sucks way more than just hitting the ground IMO
  • 1 1
@T4THH: Sorry, I had the wrong time. That was a clear bail. I meant 2:07.
  • 1 0
@pcmxa: That looks like a panic or maybe an accidental foot slip/ unclip
  • 2 0
Don't know but I keep the feet up and hold on or hold on tighter if things get sketchy.
  • 9 0
Feet on pedals all the way !!! Rather have the suspension, tyres, and welds take the force than my ankles and knees
  • 1 0
Same as at 2.52, (not that I have the balls to take on something like that) but I thought he'd nailed it until he took his foot off
  • 1 0
The guy at 2:07 should have kept the foot on. Tho, sometimes if you roll in the air (like yaw, pitch, roll), you can keep from hitting the ground by landing in a tripod. For slow speed landings, it works great. Higher speed jumps... landing with a foot off to try and save it is a bit more of a desperate measure.
  • 2 0
same reason people stick their arm out and get the clavicle award
  • 1 0
Total panic reaction. Did it once last year where a feature ended up being bigger than I expected and instead of committing I decided that chickening out and driving one foot into the ground was a better option?!?! Getting better at jumping now but in the past most of my crashes have been a result of chickening out right as the wheels are leaving the ground.
  • 8 1
 No kurwas today Frown
  • 4 0
 3:26?!?
  • 1 0
 @kriesel: That's what I was thinking, too.
  • 6 0
The first audio is out of sync or some sniper shot him mid air
  • 2 0
Cool! First time watching this where I spot a trail I know and ride. Very last clip is 100% the top of Grinder at Hartland. I crashed in the exact same way 2 years ago. haha (the video does not show the scale of that rock face)
  • 5 0
FF - The run over your friends edition.
  • 4 0
 Those are my favorites.
  • 3 0
Red Jacket hucked to Flat twice, right? Real Bender Style - the first one is massive!
  • 2 0

I counted at least 3 "Buddy" crashes this week. Might have been more.
Teamwork!
  • 4 0
There is no "I" in "team" -- but there is in "ATE SHIT"
  • 1 0
1:33: Haha classic old Scott Genius ^^ This is the third time i see someone tearing the shock-bolt out of the frame. At least there was sort of reason for it to happen here... Smile
  • 2 0
The crash right off the start?! The loud 'bang' mid air? Is the audio off from the case that happens a second later? Did I miss something here?
  • 1 0
that pedal grab at 3.17, ugh. don't know about you guys but this is one of my dreaded. narrow tight chutes can freak me out as i have big feet and i've had that happen one too many times. i HATE the pedal grab!!
  • 1 0
None of these were really that bad.

The Bikepark ones always make me think of people eating shit off the GLC drop. You f*ck(ed) that one up and everyone sees (and applauds). Pure luck it never happened to me.
  • 3 0
once the feet come off the pedals, it is all over!
  • 2 0
When it's a "win" of a crash until your buddy following you decides you need a visit to the ER

Everything's got to be an ad nowadays.
  • 1 0
2:50. Why does Joey pull up? Like literally up. Idk why people do this
  • 1 1
probably to stop the front wheel dropping to much, maybe his bikes front heavy
  • 1 0
Dude is a total motivator for me to go bigger than I currently do when it comes to drops. Homes obviously makes up for his complete lack of skill with balls than are unnaturally massive.
  • 1 0
1:57 when ringing your bell rings a bell.
  • 1 0
a few of those fails look like soft tires doing the odd stunt
  • 2 0
Pinkbike told me I only need 18psi in my tires.
