 @jackalope: Naw, a Semenuk fail reel would be pretty long, if Semenuk himself decided what to include: It'd only consist of "fails" like him spinning 721.3 degrees and landing smooth ready for the next jump, instead of spinning 720 degrees exactly. And 360 triple barspins where his left hand grabbed the girp a full 2mm outboard from his normal position.

 @kcy4130: I don't know how he does it. Personally, I couldn't live with myself if I landed a 721.3* spin and not a 720*. That's the real reason I don't do all those stunts & tricks - I'm too much of a perfectionist. I focus my prodigious talents on dangerously unbalanced stoppies in the parking lot and random brake skiddies.

 For my understanding: Friday fails seems to be mostly the same mistake - that tip over onto the front wheel and then the fork that compresses and throws u over the bars... is that what is called the dead sailor??? How can it be avoided? Compress the fork beforw the jump? Pull harder on the bars when taking off? Sorry dumb question...

 There's often a combination of errors. Some are pretty obviously grabbing a handful of front brake when not properly balanced front to back on the bike. Others are poor bike setup, bad riding position, bad line choice, etc. In general, stay balanced over your feet, most pressure should not be on your hands. Then for most jumps (not all), compress to release just before the end of the jump. Most jumps do not need one to pull up on the bars unless your using that leverage for a trick.
Google Ryan Leech Connection and sign up for his online jump course. It's inexpensive ($20, I believe) and very good. It will work you through a progression that will grow your confidence while avoiding the dead sailor.

 I call that a "Bail" and in my mind, is usually a much better option than holding on. I'd say it could be classified under "fail" most commonly although I have seen some Bails that were so smooth they could easily be a Saturday Save candidate.
