The chick falling off drop saying “opsiepoopsie” is gold. Seems to be lots of face plants in this one as well. Good stuff!

People who cannot jump shouldnt try
  • 35 0
@RedBurn: How else are you going to learn? Nobody is born with the ability to jump a bike.
  • 12 0
@RedBurn: Why? even the pros fail at simple jumps sometimes.
  • 11 14
1:25: thats the difference between men and women - she sees the problem, checks the possible outcoming and grabs her brakes to avoid the faceplant otb. All the guys go for it to slow and pay hard. Clever to step sideways. The comment of here friend is so nice and gilry, it makes me grin.
  • 6 0
 @Lasse2021: Oopsie doopsie! Smile
  • 3 1
Friday fails should come with a list of injuries. Great crashes and hope everyone has healed up!
  • 2 0
@zonoskar: I Think the sir above thinks he was, if that helps. lol
  • 2 0
 Even 6 "Ohhhhh" can't dethrone "Oopsie-Dopsie"!!!!!
  • 8 0
If you hit the '4' on your computer it takes you to exactly 'Oopsie doopsie'. Then you can keep hitting '4' over and over.

 You're a chick.
  • 1 0
Hilarious right..tank slappers make me cringe though..some sore necks out there today
  • 2 0
@RedBurn: You’re not going to make Friday fails with that kind of attitude!
  • 2 0
It was the person filming not the one riding that said "Oopsie Doopsie" also not "Oopsie Poopsie". LOL!
  • 2 0
Whilst I love the "oopsiedoopsie" generally I could do with a lot less face plants and more laughing as everyone gets up and is OK some of these look pretty brutal. They are definitely not good for my inner calm.....
  • 37 0
Dude at 3:12 - a Really Bad Decision Friday for him. In what alternate physics universe was he thinking he was going to get through that river?
  • 4 0
"That sir, would be a rock"

part salmon...returning to his natural environment??

My spine felt that Scorpion @:27 damn.
  • 4 1
Props to this guy for reinforcing my desire to ride flats. Upside down trackstands look painful
  • 1 0
Almost looked like scorpion season there for a bit...
  • 3 0
 A lesson in involuntary yoga
  • 2 0
@SacAssassin: I think he was riding flats
  • 2 0
been awhile since I have seen such a well executed full scorp! text book. guy could give lessons.
  • 1 0
@RayDolor: That was a perfect face plant. I wonder how many teeth he jarred loose.
  • 1 0
@SATN-XC: He wasnt. look at :27 and :28. Looks like maybe mallets? He's definitely wearing some type of SPD shoe. Its one hell of a face plant either way.
  • 2 1
 @rivercitycycles: Probably toof or furee
  • 1 0
@SacAssassin: I can confirm. I was clipped in.
  • 2 0
Definitely got a readjustment from that fall. Walked away fine surprisingly.
  • 1 0
@Fess09: Good to hear and slightly amazing your okay . That was one hell of a face plant.

Every week it seems I get closer and closer to buying a full face.

Think we should call this weeks edition “Lawn Dart Friday”
  • 1 0
wanted to write the same ffs
  • 2 0
@rrolly: if you’re learning how to jump. I highly recommend you do so…
  • 2 0
What do you mean? Whats wrong with smacking your face on the ground?
  • 25 0
RIP to everyone's faces this week. god damn!

Only one tree attack - is it that they no longer possess leaf camouflage, or they've gone into winter hibernation?
  • 1 0
I guess trees got the latest update and are now airtagged.
  • 1 0
I was thinking the same and guessing that Outside responded to Sierra Club complaints re tree abuse. Fortunately, PB members stepped up big and proved they can still auger in with the best of them, even without the trees for supporting cast.
  • 17 0
at 55s, that isn't a fail, that is the intended way to ride a Kona from that era off drops...
  • 8 0
If both wheels hit the ground, you landed it, nothing else that happens afterward counts.
  • 12 1
So there I was just riding along...for sale, mechanic maintained frame, low miles, excellent condition
  • 11 1
I just reflexively ordered my lunch...at 9 am Thanks Pinkbike
  • 6 2
FU PB and your floating FF release time....you let us suffer until mid afternoon for months now you roll it out before coffee break. I expect my free content on time at the same time every time. Get it together.... Otherwise good mix of cringe and belly laugh this week.
  • 1 0
@pink505: Right??? Next they'll change the PBA release time and screw up my Thursday lunch workout session.
  • 1 0
@pink505: Must suck to live in an Eastern Time Zone.
  • 2 0
@suspended-flesh: We can't even enduro bro....but all better now that pot is legal for us canucks anyway.
  • 8 0
If you use your face instead of your brakes to slow down, you're gonna have a bad time...
  • 4 0
Brake pads are definitely cheaper to replace.
  • 8 0
Wheel width gap on skinny over stream, what could possibly go wrong?
  • 3 0
Can you imagine the oh shit moment when the wheel gets stuck? There was almost a full second in which to think “this is going to end badly and most likely hurt a lot”
  • 2 0
@NCKingsting: I think it's more of a "do I trash my wheel or dive off the side" moment....
  • 7 0
..5 cased jumps, 4 face plants, 3 tuck and rolls, 2 dead sailors, and a partridge in a pear tree
  • 4 0
 Surely it's a "joe-y in a pine tree"
  • 5 0
2:12 Where did his derailleur and chain go? Is this kid going full Gwin or can he just not find any parts (probably the latter with how parts are right now)?
  • 2 0
community survey on protection: I have knee/elbow pads, and it seems that’s the most common body protection people choose, but is that really what’s needed most? Looking at these fails it seems like chest & shoulders ( and hips?) are way more likely to take the brunt. What’s your experience & recommendation?
  • 9 0
I'd recommend a sturdy neck brace for some of these face plant artists
  • 3 0
I wear padded liners when I am at the pump track and dirt jumps and they have saved my hips on a few occasions. I don't like to pedal in them, but I also don't really have trails that warrant them anyway. If I did I would deal with the mild discomfort as the padding really helps the heavy impacts on the side of your legs.
  • 2 1
For your techier enduro/trail riding trail... padded shirts (I have a Leatt) with spine/chest/shoulder protection and shorts with some hip/tailbone protection (I have a POC pair) have come a long way. Try/return a few until you get something that fits you well.

Full face if you are doing some of these gaps
  • 6 0
In my experience shoulders bear the brunt of mtb injuries, if you include collarbones, but pads don’t do a great job of mitigating those injuries. Hips get hit pretty hard as well but it’s hard to pedal in hip protection. I wear chest and back in the park/shuttles, not because impact there is common but because of the severity of potential injury to those areas and because it isn’t that cumbersome to wear it.
  • 4 0
Leatt neck brace and a full face helmet are very good ideas when pushing your limits….
  • 3 0
I wear knee pads, a full face helmet, a chest pad, gloves, and goggles. Surprisingly the chest guard gets the most use, and has saved me from broken ribs many times.
  • 10 0
 a bubble. wear a bubble.
  • 1 0
@snomaster: I was going to say that he should get one of those Bear suits, but a bubble would work too.
  • 1 0
@NCKingsting: Yeah I will probably invest in one of those before my next downhill race this spring.
  • 2 0
Jumping? Neck protection + FF. Riding well within your limits? Knees+elbows.
  • 2 0
@fraserw: I'm nearer to the latter, and have followed that same logic. But lately I've been questioning it. I generally ride flow trails and get modest airtime on tabletops. Not too risky, not too gnarly, but I can pick up a lot of speed, and if I wash out on a corner at speed I might get intimate with a tree, rock, or tumble down the hillside. In which case, I'm asking myself whether knee/elbow pads are going to cut it.

I know it's a personal choice, and not easy to quantify the risks exactly. But I'm still interested to hear what y'all are sharing on the topic!
  • 3 0
@MuddyBrit: according to a patroller buddy at Whistler, blue flow trails are the second biggest source of carry off the hill accidents. The first is A Line, or, in general terms, the first black flow trail intermediates hit when they start over estimating their jumping abilities.
  • 2 0
G-Form chamois bike shorts with D30 hip pads - I never ride without them and they’ve saved my hip bones a few times now. Best protective gear I own imho
  • 6 0
 The not enough speed episode!!
  • 2 0
Wow this week is hot on fails! That´s why dentist can afford all new top of the line bikes, riders smack their faces to the ground all day long hahaha.
But seriously, good quality videos. You could see the fails approaching from miles, then the k-boom moment in all it´s glory.
Last week I had a big fail while doing a manual, like the last guy...
  • 1 0
1:43 similar crash to mine but on the smaller jump line and lower speed at all. I have broken my wrists and one of them with displacement. Hope this guy is in one piece. Bike park Kalnica and especially big air line is really for pros.
  • 5 0
Damn. Lots of trips to the dentist in this episode.
  • 5 0
 Oopsie Doopsie.....it's Friday Faceplants!
  • 1 0
Still wondering if more upper body strength would help some of these folks prevent crashes. I'm thinking shoulder (Deltoid) and triceps, to prevent a decelerating mass (body) from wanting to continue it's inertia over the bars.
  • 1 0
I love the MTB fortune tellers ,they know everything before it even happens, until ,it happens
Yah thats good ,ya Riiiiiiight there, right,ya,right there ya ,ohhh

Hard to watch these faceplants. After breaking my jaw last year, it's an injury I wouldn't wish on anyone. I only wear full-face now...

There is just something so heartwarming knowing that every weekend, people are going out there and just yeeting themselves. I love it so much.
  • 2 0
I would like to see a broken bike/component compilation. Maybe monthly? Surely some of these bikes break something

This weeks episode brought to you by the letters O, T, and B.
  • 2 0
That was a pretty good bail at 2:30. I would have got tangled up in the bike and broke the wheel for sure.
  • 3 0
1:40 sending it like that is NEVER a fail!
  • 1 0
He definitely seems to have the flipping part dialed, didnt look like a very soft landing though, hope he’s alright
(mulch? never heard of her).
  • 1 0
I wear a full face helmet now (and surprise, I didn't hit my head before making the decision lol) but have no desire to face plant into the ground.
  • 3 0
Buddy getting stuck in the bridge is one of the funniest ones yet.
  • 2 0
I was afraid he was going to try to hold on and taco the wheel.

Me at the start of the video: I wonder if it's going to be a another brutal FF?

Me three seconds in: yep!

I want to have the crash skills that kid had. He landed in a way that launched him off the trampoline of his shock...spun around like a 80lb child in a skydiving tube...and just landed gentle as a feather. I could ride until I'm 80 with that one skill!!!
