These videos are probably the only reason that gopro’s stock hasn’t fallen further

 Bravo!
  • 1 0
gopro vertical phone video could be a new marketing angle for them!

 Pole wins this Friday’s fails
  • 4 3
I dont get all the comments about the pole breaking. Whats the story about this
  • 68 9
You can’t break a Pole until you deprive him of Vodka for 3 months
  • 8 1
@bikingblake: polebicycles.com/we-are-not-perfect-after-all The Pole of the 2020 Field Test broke, allegedly due to prototype part being mistakenly installed.
  • 27 4
@Floho: That feels like an odd way to respond to one of your frames breaking. Not sure why they chose to go the low road and attack PB.
  • 38 0
I agree - the response seems a bit Sick bicycles although it may be correct. I'll wait to hear both sides of the story before forming an opinion...

I am still disappointed at the whole 'we sent a preproduction version' excuse though (not just aimed at Pole). Is it really that hard to double check the bike over before sending it off, when it is going to someone who could impact a huge proportion of your potential market? It's either stupid, lazy, or a lie, and none of those is great...
  • 10 0
@slimboyjim: +1. Weak quality control on such an important test bike.
  • 33 5
Pole is terrible at their PR, their virtue signaling sickens me, tech BS is on par if not beyond Italian roadie brands, their geo makes no sense for anything smaller than 160 bike if not 180... but I still give them the benefit of Doubt here. It’s a small company, they can’t just afford sending complete best samples left and right. They are as niche as it gets in high performance mtb market. No journalist in their right mind would skip a chance to ride Unno, Starling, Antidote or Pole. But they rightfully deserve to be given the opportunity to give the big boys a run for their money. Anything can Break, it’s just that when a Commencal cracks nobody cares. When Canyon or YTngets screwed up on first weekend away, people just laugh and forget about it. Owner gets warranty return, end of story. If they cracked a Stumojumper here, nobody would put to much emotional load to it
  • 15 10
@Floho: Pole have really screwed up here. Don’t believe their story for a second, and this is a typical corporate “my customers are silly fools who’ll believe anything” type of response. Ridiculous. I will never buy anything form Pole and I think I won’t be alone in my opinion.
  • 9 0
 @Floho: Thanks for posting this.

Lame response. Shifting the blame to PB. Someone at Pole F**ked up. Period.
It really hurts this brands credibility in my eyes at the very least.
  • 2 2
 Are you OK? No seriously.
  • 7 0
@WAKIdesigns: I agree somewhat, and personally think the Poles look great. Yetis and other bikes have broken before, and they all get the same treatment in the comments section in my experience. I just think the way this was dealt with by Leo/Pole came across poorly, perhaps through frustration or anger...

I think my main problem is that if they don't take the care to send out possibly the most important bike of the season / year in a fit state, can I trust their QC for a standard bike? I would certainly still consider them personally, but it does cause concern for a potential buyer in my opinion...
  • 5 0
Sorry Pole...no amount of Loam Ranger videos are going to make up for that blame game press release.
  • 3 0
@WAKIdesigns: i wish Hambini was into mountain biking, it would be highly entertaining for him to take on Pole and see where it goes.
  • 11 0
@tbubier: the owner of pole seems like a douche in everything I've seen him in, doesn't really surprise me.
  • 3 0
There's a lot of talk about Pole in this site. Riding Pole , breaking Pole. Jus sayin
  • 4 1
@MikeyMT: Loamie sold out on that shit anyway. Those bikes are too one dimensional. I need something a lot more well rounded and versatile. WTF am I going to do with a 1350+mm wheelbase?!
  • 6 0
I guess their bikes ran out of Stamina
  • 6 0
@Floho: "We don’t know the details yet how the review or the video is going to come out" ... yet launches a lengthy anti-Pinkbike rant.
  • 1 0
 Pole 1st
Stumpy 2nd
Ibis 3rd Big Grin
  • 4 0
Theres such a thing as too much pole talk and a fella oughtta be aware of it.
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: as a pole, i approve this statement
  • 1 0
If broken bikes are scandalous and great for revenue, if only I'd taken a vid of the kid at CWX18 landing his pole sideways of everything possible then walking it down the bike park after he snapped it.
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: too much polish water ? stick to coffee please and stick to topic. Its Friday fails; ah my bad continue please its Friday fails.
  • 30 0
2:24 that one already been send by Skills with Phil
  • 45 3
 1. Probably why this kid tried it. 2. He found out he isn't Phil. 3. Hope he called a lawyer.
  • 72 0
 @phalley: for that case.
  • 45 0
I ran into that kid while in the lodge at Thunder the other week. He showed me this crash and was blown away he wasn't more hurt. Props to him for giving it the beans!
  • 9 1
@phalley: You must be new here... Smile

A lawyer, for that case (pun intended)
  • 4 0
even Phill barely made it. serious balls to even try that.
  • 1 1
Pretty sure Phil cased it too, just rode out instead
  • 26 1
Shouldn't even attempt that without at least a class 3 mustache
  • 2 1
Phil's going to have some broken bones on his conscience after that video I think, I imagine there will be a few kids that try it and mess it up haha. Good fuel for future Friday Fails!
  • 3 0
I went and found Phil hitting it here:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=adaIWstR0Eo&t=755s
  • 2 0
 @SnowshoeRider4Life:
I had been looking at it, I was glad to see Phil do it to see it was possible. Once I saw it was possible I had to go for it.
  • 3 0
@PhilKmetz: thanks man! The jump trails were pretty soft that day I saw you, I’ll be back at it with this gap next year.
  • 3 0
For Sale on Pinkbike, 2019 Ibis Ripley, half a season, barely ridden, like new.
  • 24 5
Some of these guys need to realise that they ain’t captains, and they don’t need to go down with the ship. f*ck the bike off and bail without it, then tuck and roll where possible.
  • 3 3
One hundred percent. A bent rim, twisted bars, and dings and scratches do not even come close to the cost of the ambulance ride to the hospital, let alone the surgery to put your shoulder back in it's socket.
  • 13 0
I remember watching a rampage/freeride related video where Nell/ Sorge/ Zink/ can't remember exactly who , said always let the bike take the hit, IE stay on yer bike Danny!!

Obviously all crashes are different but sometimes it's best to hold on.
  • 5 2
@FloridaHasMTBToo: the bike will likely take less damage in a crash without 200 lbs landing on top of it too
  • 2 4
@JamesGTi: Ya, definitely on drops I hang on unless I'm going OTB, but in most situations it's best to ditch.
  • 5 4
Needless to say, they don’t exactly clench to the bike voluntarily Blank Stare
  • 2 1
Very opposite of myself. I boot that bike as far from myself as i can when i hit the deck
  • 4 1
On highspeed corner slide-outs keep the hands on the grips. You will break far fewer arms and occasionally the earth will even pop you back upright.
  • 1 0
The 2 flip attempts went the other way though; they left the bikes behind and landed sans wheels!
  • 2 0
@JamesGTi: specially when you're learning backflips. I watch people ditch their bike when they're upside down then painfully reunite while lying on the ground!
  • 8 5
@FloridaHasMTBToo: American's and their "healthcare". But I guess every country shouldn't deprive citizens with affordable, and modernized health institutions because they don't want an army of healthy, able bodied people! There's no profit in healthy people
  • 2 1
Coming from motocross I learned almost always stay on your bike. Let the suspension take the hit. Obliviously all crashes are different but apart from an OTB I ride that thing out
  • 2 1
@Bones695: well that’s not a good strategy on MTB, particularly when jumping... there is not a single good dirt jumper in the world who is not good at throwing the bike mid air. It’s evolution. These specimens simply prevail. Those who are not good at it and don’t learn, don’t get to jump anymore due to injuries
  • 1 1
@WAKIdesigns: how many dirt jumpers have sudpension?
  • 7 1
 *suspension

sud pension is obviously what u get when u retire from the soap biz.
  • 20 0
 Bravo!
  • 6 1
Do Italians use 'bravo' in some other sense, or is that guy just totally sarcastic like basically everyone that I have ever mountain biked with?
  • 1 0
@pinhead907: Usually in those cases the "bravo" is accompanied "si, ma una sega!"
  • 3 0
Came here to say this. Love the sarcastic "bravo."
  • 1 0
 @pk71: "si, ma una sega!"
Does this translate to "See Ma, I'm fine!" or just sound the same?
  • 1 0
@plyawn: not exactly. Normally it is called "bravoo !!" to the "Semenuk" on duty, while to the friend by your side "bravo yes! but a wank!"
  • 1 0
@stalkinghorse: if you stretch the "O" it's even better, Bravooo!
  • 15 0
Tree hit at 1:44 is a winner!
  • 2 0
I straight up thought he was a goner!
  • 6 1
Love how his buddies don't move a muscle to check on him. Just keep filming!
  • 3 0
@mark2203: already wrote him off. He's a goner
  • 15 0
Wall ride coming up... better hit it straight!
  • 3 0
yep, just give it a hip check, that's the way ain't it?
  • 11 0
The cinematographers have clearly been taking notes. Great follow through this episode.
  • 5 0
still too much portrait filming. We need to make pre-production a point of emphasis.
  • 12 2
My wife gets off her bike if she has to go off a street curb. True.
  • 2 1
 mine too Smile
  • 9 10
I stopped reading after the word "off" then picked back up with "True."
  • 4 0
My wife sold her bikes and quit riding with me after a crash similar to that one lol but same story previously haha
  • 4 0
Wives are awesome. They don't front.
  • 7 0
@endlessblockades: My wife is learning to jump. Had some good crashes. Still at it. She’s the best.
  • 10 0
How the hell do you snap a rear shock like that at 2:20??
  • 6 0
Maybe because of the Specialized Bolt on shock mount they are used in 2014-2018
  • 5 0
 that's the virtual linkage!
  • 2 0
Factory spec was 30% sag....he was running 35%. LOL
  • 18 0
I'm the perosn who snapped it. It was a 24% sag and 275 psi with three spaces in positive. I went 20 feet to flat going 30 mph man. Shit just snapped
  • 6 0
It was because his SWAT-Box wasn't closed... beginner-mistake..
  • 6 0
@OwenFluckiger: lolol might be harder to sell that Stumpy now
  • 1 0
@OwenFluckiger: Did you destroy the fork too? It looked bent in the video.
  • 1 0
 @kyytaM: *bluetooth linkage
  • 1 0
@OwenFluckiger: hauling ass @ 48km/h. Goddamn. Gnarsauce for that crash
  • 1 0
@NorCalNomad: nah. Toss in the standard “as new” and “lady driven” and all is well.
  • 9 0
I have a feeling that Fort Hill line is going to claim some more victims.
  • 2 1
Yea for sure. I snapped a shock on it. That was me
  • 2 2
@OwenFluckiger: A little to much send for the DVO huh?
  • 1 0
My buddy has some nasty footage of his crash on one of those hits. Both from the ground and go pro. Not sure if he’s up to have it on here yet. They actually named the drop after him as a result Smile . Lampshade’s Leap. Resulted in a dislocated and broken hip socket.
  • 1 0
@schwaaa31: The Real Lampshade? I know him from Highland. I had no idea he crashed. Explains why I haven't seen him all year. At least he has a rad story to tell.
  • 1 0
@chriskneeland: Yup. The one and only. I was with him. It sucked. He was off the bike and out of work for a few months. Slowly getting back into some trail riding.
  • 7 0
As always fails of pros are more scary than funny, fails of rookies are funny AF.
  • 5 0
solid crop FF is the ultimate public safety announcement for the mtb community. It keeps skillless hacks like myself in check.
  • 3 0
2:16 sheared the rear shock off or something. That’s an expensive trip to the park.
  • 1 1
 Snapped in half
  • 1 0
@OwenFluckiger: Broke the shock bolt eh? I heard about some other kid somewhere that broke the whole shock!
  • 3 1
Gap Jumpman "I'm on the case."

Superpower: able to snap a bike in a single huck.

Weakness: Overconfidence.

Villain or hero?
  • 2 0
1:32 that a big jump to smash out on, credit.. 2:00 he still hung on even after he bit the dirt. 2:11 brok a shock bolt!!! ahhh i love fridays.
  • 2 1
Not the bolt. The shock snapped in half
  • 5 1
Biggest Friday Fail is no field test article for the second day in a row.
  • 1 0
Good point. The Pole bike broke....I don't know why.
  • 4 0
Dude on the wall ride somehow thinking hes able to defy physics
  • 1 0
as a coach, i cant help but feel like literally 1 hour of coaching from a trained eye could make SO many peoples riding both better and safer! ah well, itl never happen for most riders, haha
  • 2 0
Fastplant to tree off the jump is probably my favorite. That's what happens when you watch too much Semenuk videos!
  • 4 0
Always demagnatize any trees in the vicinity before flight.
  • 3 0
2:21 that shock from the specialized broke?
  • 3 0
I think the fork looks broken too
  • 2 0
 And a pringled rear wheel.
  • 2 1
 @littleskull99: na it's a spankn
  • 3 1
 Yeah. The shock itself snapped
  • 1 0
I think someone said it was just the shock bolt. I'm sure that would've been corrected by the guy in the vid already if that info was wrong.
  • 3 0
Which clip is the Pole frame breaking?
  • 2 0
which one of these is from the Field Test? Anyone see the Pole? Not sure what the other one was...
  • 3 0
 Friday Fails, the "woah" edition.

I kinda miss the "kurrrrva" days.
  • 2 0
1:45.Hard face plant/head injury into tree elicits non-committal reaction from "friends". Bravo.
  • 2 0
Many schooled on bottom bracket rebound tuning... ????
  • 2 0
 Shock couldn’t handle the drop
  • 2 1
 Nope. Shit snapped
  • 2 0
Don't blame the shock for the rider hucking a trail bike to flat lol. That drop is smooth as a babys ass if you take the correct speed off it, or know how to squash drops. That drop is going to claim more victims, it is not trail speed and is smaller than the first two features on that line. Hoping they rework that one because it sucks to start out flowing and speed, have to drag brakes, then have to get back on the gas for the dirt to dirt double...
  • 1 0
 1:32
Props dude
You’re one that can actually say “well, I crashed on a huge jump”
  • 2 0
Not sure that bike from 2:23 is safe to ride anymore
  • 1 1
 Shock snapped
  • 2 0
Nah, I know the guy in the vid. He showed us high res super slo-mo of crash showing only the bolt breaking. Then presented the actual broken bolt for examination, even put his hand on a Bible and swore it was only the bolt that snapped.
  • 1 0
@50percentsure: i still wouldn't trust that frame or fork to be safe anymore haha. shit was f*cked.
  • 3 0
 Bravo!!
  • 2 1
I hope 2:24 has a good lawyer ‘cause that case was criminal to that bike!
  • 1 0
Haha from 1.29, fair enough to 1.41 wtf couldn't be more different is this even the same activity!
  • 1 0
Definitely thought the guy with the iphone on his handlebars would wreck. Guess that makes too much sense
  • 1 0
1:00 - knowing mid air you're going down : sucks but seems way worst when you have time to pray before the crash.....
  • 2 0
Why aren’t elbow pads more popular?
  • 1 0
So are we going to see a new advert for full faced helmets after this one?
  • 1 0
Where can i send a clip for "friday fails"?
  • 1 0
keep it on your teenager whatsapp group
  • 1 0
0:40 is that chatel? f*cking gnarly
  • 1 0
yes, this is the big Rivergap at Zougoulukata, about 12-15 meters, this guy had some luck
  • 1 0
@deucecomposite: rode that track a few years ago but didn't hit the big features like that. Would love to go back now I'm a much better rider.
  • 1 0
@JamesGTi: haha, this happens to me too, i looked at the jumpline for several years and did it this year the first time, getting older and a bit slower but gain much more control and confidence with the years riding
  • 1 0
" that was gnarly" Is that bevis or butthead?
  • 1 0
That move at 1:40 -- we used to call it a Miami Hopper.
  • 1 0
0:52 looks like a hell of a save, not a fail...
  • 1 0
Sometimes, you gotta learn the hard way.
  • 1 0
Yo dawg, I heard you like faceplants
  • 1 0
Damn, that is one snapped in half shock haha
  • 1 0
How does one submit a fail video?
  • 1 0
the difference between success and failure is small
  • 1 0
 Gnarly!
  • 1 0
 A few cases for concern.
  • 1 0
 that wuz knarly
  • 1 0
 Bravo.
  • 1 0
 2:20 RIP Dvo....
