@BryceBorlick: I didn’t listen to him, just watched at his fromt wheel wondering how the hell can someone nail those lines with such precision at that speed and so much gnar around...
I think that this is where world cups should be heading. Courses like this would shake up the standing a little bit, and make the racing much more interesting. Maybe we could see gaps between racers of seconds rather then tenths of seconds.
Minaar would be crying at the UCI's office after track walk to tell them to remove the jumps because they're too dangerous for riders safety...
Here comes the downvote warriors
@mollow: So Minnaar's complaint about a jump that seriously injured Remi wasn't valid? Maybe Remi isn't a "core" enough rider for you, but right before he got hurt he was probably one of the best DH riders in the technical/gnar areas...
@mollow: you're really going to try to put the GOAT on blast like that?? A dude who used to flip DH bikes like it was nothing, still consistently hits gaps in the middle of race runs that the vast majority of riders won't even try, and went straight from winning world champs to doing heelclickers at f*cking RAMPAGE. You need to check your mtb history book a little better, son.
Aint gonna happen, tracks have to be rideable by all competitors which means men, women and juniors (men and women). Ever asked yourself why there are no girls riding hardline?
@hllclmbr: Why is it called DH? A proper DH race should never be decided by how well someone can pedal. Would rather see pinpoint accuracy through the technical sections and different line choices be deciding factors.
@winko: yeah I guess that's true. I just think that the same old track every year with little to no change, is keeping newer riders in the scene from getting good results. The tracks dont even have to be like this, they just need to have the same spirit as this track. More raw, bigger jumps, sections that some riders litterally cant ride. If it means there has to be b lines for those who cant ride the gnarly stuff, so be it.
Redbull sells 6.062 billion cans worldwide in over 171 countries. Employs 11,800 employees and generated $7.4 billion in revenue in 2017. But apparently, having a functioning video player is beyond them.
I actually think that this is the best helmet cam video i've ever seen from a course.
Insane speed, ridiculous jumps, steep, with commentary even mid air and really good quality recording.
Wow that looks supper knar. Well done I’ve seen a bit of last years, yet this video shows the technical rock and root combination that people love to fear. You made it look easy and thanks again for explaining the details on the way down, cause the video cams got amazing resolution. yet my cell phones screen is to small for the detail to see how massive everything is and how twisted those roots and rocks are. I guess I’ll have to keep watching it Cheers!
Gee that is as good of a course preview as i ever seem, you are as talented at it as you are riding. Insane skills and ballz of steel. Red bull hire the man !!!!! Dan did an amazing job with the course design
“This is really hard to ride even under the best conditions!” Really Gee? You don’t say? My head practically exploded just watching you do that. But to listen to your almost casual commentary while riding the gnarliest DH run on the planet honestly is quite amazing. The Atherton siblings are the most badass team ever.
This is definitely the type of track where World Cups should be heading back to instead of technical 4x tracks that they have these days. Gee is also just so super smooth through the gnarly sections.
Gee is a very good commentator. Good course previews. Kinda surprising, cause quite often during interviews he comes off as pretty quiet, distant & staid. Seems a good replacement for Claudio.
Hats off to Gee for giving so much decent commentary whilst absolutely pinning down the gnarliest DH course in the world, jeez this man is a demon. Casually chats through those 50 - 60 ft jumps..... Nuff r'spect
Gee may not be on the podium as much as he used to, but this was seriously impressive. This track is crazier than ever and I doubt many people in the world could make it down this in one take, pro or not.
Amazing. My hands would have been blown off the bars after 10m. Question: were those noises at the end of the reel coming from his bike. Sounded a wee bit unhappy if so.
Besides the jumps and the flow, A line looks like a motorway. Does anyone care what something looks like when you take away it's defining features? Course not...
Anyway this hardline is a proper dh coarse , hope it stays dry and they all get down in one piece
do you manage to even speak, man!!?? mid air, or in the nastiest rock section ever...

But I don't agree with mollow

Holy shite.
best play by play at speed and gnar ever.
I've always been an Atherton fan. Win this race Gee!!!

Cheers!
You know shit is tough when a guy like Gee goes "oh, no" before a feature
absolute animal
