This week, I visit Kelowna, to test our luck on "Casino Royale", with long time friend and awesome rider, Stephen Matthews. This was my first time actually riding in Kelowna, believe it or not.
Casino Royale, is the local wild trail; full of rad wooden built features and some loose and rocky terrain. I thought this trail was an absolute blast and I hope you enjoy it as well!
Riding my Focus Bikes, SAM Filmed on my GoPro HERO8 and Max.
By coincidence road this trail yesterday. Tho skipped the big features & walked a few spots. Casino has some big (& very old) wooden features. Where the rider says “That was scary” - major understatement! That jump is massive! There is another gut wrencher 1:30 fr the end - they made it look easy but that is far far far from easy. I could barely watch let alone ride that feature. Great job guys!!!
These Gully edits are fantastic. Trail reminds me a bit of an old one that used to be around there called "Builders Only" that Johnny Smoke took me down one day....absolutely loved it!
There are a ton of trails in the Gillard network and many other networks all within a few minute of town; Smith Creek and Rose Valley on the Westside, Myra-Bellevue park, Knox Mountain on the Kelowna side. Lots of variety in trail types. Spring all fall are best so you avoid the mid-summer dust.
The trails in the Gillard area were all built many years ago, but r currently undergoing renovation - & r all technically closed even tho people still ride them routinely.
I expect many of the old 90s style wood features will be replaced or removed - & it will becomes more natural. I live on the other side of the lake & don’t work on those myself (tho I do on my side) but the Mtbco group have been doing an excellent job renovating as these trails go through the “sanctioning” process.
@pinkharo: Hopefully any of the wood features that are in good condition don't get removed. Sanctioned doesn't have to mean sanitized. 90's style is a weird way to describe something that wasn't built very long ago.
@pinkharo: we used to make an annual trip out to Gallard do you ride all the fun wood features. Then it all burn to the ground, good to see that it still lives!
@pinkharo: mtbco hasn't done shit to casino. It's been a project that 2 random dudes have been pouring thousands of dollars and and tens of thousands of hours for the last 11 years.

Dream Trail?! Anyone?
