Greasy rooty awkward woods section, inclement weather, a big ass jump at the bottom, seems like I'm gonna need a TRIPLE bypass because I'm gonna be having a HART attack Sunday.

it looks like a rowdy track - let's hope Red Bull is setup to get the best of it in the live feed.
  • 4 1
@shredddr: Redbull is not broadcasting in the USA. We are Blocked!!!!

@Three6ty: Get a VPN for the day. Most have a free trial.

@nydownhiller: I already have a VPN. Thanks for the info though

@Three6ty: Tunnel bear to anywhere in the EU!
  • 1 0
 @asmtb: whaaaaaat
  • 1 0
@Three6ty: that's a good point - will the other networks just use the red bull feed with their own commentators? there's no way every country will have a camera crew there...
  • 1 0
@shredddr: Im not sure. I think is NBC sports that owns the rights. What i have seen in the past is a hour show that shows just some highlights from all the races over the weekend (XC and DH).
It kind of sucks.
The XC race will be a shit show tomorrow with how muddy the course is. MY bet is that because of the expected snow, the DH races will not take place.

Can people please get the F* out of the way and off the Track when the G.O.A.T is on track?
  • 35 0
Love how he took some inside lines close to them, like a big league pitcher backing hitters off the plate.
  • 6 0
This is part of the new Leogang layout, moving chicanes.
  • 11 0
Especially the guy who left his bike in between the tape.

 That made my butthole pucker.

 Roadie?
  • 13 3
@FUbob: I don't think think your comment was aimed in anyway aimed at visser62. Been watching the Giro this week and the riders are dropping like flies - could do with some Mtb skills in them. As much as I admire the roadies I still think it was a very funny comment.

 @Prof:
Spot on, Prof. Cheers.

Literally added a Rampage feature to the course >.

@ 2:55! That was close... Fork bounced off the frame protector!!!

So the riders want gnar stuff? Lessss go!
A track for a technical riders

Props to the leogang builders, bottom part is the sickest section since schladming 2009 wood section, real downhill
  • 7 5
Mont-Sainte-Anne is pretty gnarly too, if you know it... Wink
  • 12 1
@cool3: nothing against MSA but totally different, at slow speed you can ride everything in msa if youre a descent riders.
Here the riders was basically on the edge a full minute, so many crashes in practice today even by the top pros

But of course MSA is gnarly
  • 10 0
It's going to be an epic mess in there. Please don't snow.
  • 9 0
It seems like the last few years of 'leogang is just a boring bikepark' complaints finally made them snap.

"Too boring they said, not enough tech they said, we'll give them fkin tech, you just watch, let's see how they like THIS"
  • 9 0
This is what happens when you mock a bike park crew too long over the years and they have enough time during lock down to build their wildest dreams Big Grin
  • 2 0
Nice to see some slower sections. It was watching riders on steep and horrible stuff that looked unrideable that got me hooked in the first place. Really looking forward to Sunday.
  • 40 0
I want one camera up top and 9 cameras in that wooded section please.
  • 14 0
Listen you get the start hut, the cable cam at the finish line, a random turn or two 3/4 of the way down and some big jumps on the motorway. Maybe if you bought more fizzy p... erm energy drink you could have more than that.
  • 36 0
I never knew that Jiffy's Peanut Butter sponsored UCI DH events.
  • 2 0
 It's crunchy alright.
  • 30 0
 Worlds gone mud.
  • 21 0
The track looks like the aftermath of an airstrike.
  • 1 0
 Hahahahha well observed!
  • 15 0
Whatever seconds you gain or lose up top , will all be lost or gained in the new bottom. That's where it'll be won - or lost. Ruts and holes galore.
  • 9 0
Wish they would just announce the updated Maxxis Shorty already! Everyone will be riding it today assuming they have enough supply.
  • 5 8
how many average people actually buy shorties or other mud spikes?
  • 14 0
 @adrennan:
Belgians.
  • 10 0
@adrennan: all UK most of the year, most central Europe and PNW in the winter.
Also, the shorty is very good in everything but hardpack, give it a go
  • 5 0
@adrennan: see lots here in Scotland! Mine goes on in Sept and stays on til April.
  • 6 0
I guess I am sheltered living in the arid western US.
  • 1 0
@adrennan The new version of the Shorty (not sure if it's getting a new name) is basically a copy of the Specialized Hillbilly with what look to be slightly shorter knobs. The new design is more open and could be a great front tire or front/rear for anyone riding loose/soft terrain. Also, because the knob height is not crazy tall it could be used on rock/roots as well. So it's far more versatile than an old Shorty or cut spike. The new tire has already won an EWS race this season under @JesseMelamed and both male/female categories at the French Cup DH rounds and Crankworx last week. A lot more versatility. Sounds like supply chain issues have prevented it from rolling out to the public already.
  • 1 0
@btjenki: I just checked Melamed's pov run from Zermatt, is visible in the start gate. So basically what they did is to split the wider central knob?
  • 1 0
@iiman: Yes, that's the most obvious change, but there are other smaller modifications. You can see the tire in a lot of photos and videos from the past few week's events. For instance: in the Crankworx DH stream Vali Holl does a bike check and she has them on front and rear. Given how many riders are on Maxxis, there's a good chance the tire wins worlds this weekend.
  • 2 0
@adrennan: Works all year round where I live !
  • 3 0
@iiman: This new one works a lot better on hardpack and roots/rock. Big improvement!
  • 11 1
Damn 2020, made us wait but delivering some gems!
That slip @2:55 tho... ????
  • 2 0
Front tire got sucked into the mud
  • 11 0
That's a proper down hill track! Well done!
  • 11 1
 Where is Brendan????
#brendogwasrobbedagain
  • 10 0
Cant wait to see Danny on this lower section!
  • 9 0
I shit meself when his front wheel slid and turned on the bridge before that woods section
  • 8 1
If it stays dry it going to be one hell of a race day, track looks f-ing awesome and a huge improvement with the new section. Perfect blend!
  • 13 0
it wont. all day rain and 5 degrees for sunday Big Grin
  • 7 2
But it won`t! 4 degrees and a shit load of rain!
  • 6 0
That was a very good edit. Cant believe the picture is so stable and clear - what were you using??
  • 1 0
I was thinking the same - best POV footage I've ever seen
  • 6 0
Makes that middle section look so breezy. I would have pooped myself.
  • 6 0
"Sooo good!" after surviving this off camber in the steep woods! Classic!
  • 5 0
3m 56s - that hole in the earth is Minnaar's short cut back to South Africa, right?
  • 6 2
God, I hope the girls are Ok with that massive gap there, with all that mud speed its probably not quite there. Looked like Greg pulled very hard on this one ...
  • 3 0
It’s a massive gap too. You can really see it in Bernard Kerr’s YouTube video previewing the track.
  • 8 0
I've seen clips of Tahnee and Vali doing it with no problems. They shred, no need to doubt their skill at all
  • 5 1
@Raisadaruppe: No one doubt their skills, but in worlds there is girls which dont race world cup track everyday especially in these conditions lol... My point was, there is not chicken line, you have to do it, and that slippery wooden thing just before the gap might just play someone a bad joke
  • 4 0
@dmdcycles: I read somewhere on here there is a chicken line but takes much longer
  • 1 0
@dmdcycles @JNZ: You can see the chicken line off to the right of the jump in the video. Definitely a big time penalty but it is there.
  • 3 0
What helmet camera was used here??? it didn't look flat at all like most do, but seriously this is gonna be an epic race weekend
  • 1 0
Maybe the goPro 9 as i have seen other 9 videos that show less gopro effect...

Track looks so steep and technical now. Love it! It's awesome to see how the Leogang track has evolved over the years. Can't wait for Sunday!
  • 3 0
Fitness level will rule this weekend.
  • 3 0
This is going to be a proper shit-show. Can't wait.
  • 5 3
So maybe a 180/60 front disk rotor and a 223 back ?,good luck to all the brave riders ,looks like old school DH
  • 5 2
Track is made for the donut. Levy get on a plane rn and go set the pace.
  • 1 0
could bronco hop that gap out of the woods if you didnt have enough speed to jump it
  • 1 0
Where is Sam Hill when you need him to show the kids how it's done? He would have killed it on this track. Definitely some sketch lines through multiple sections.
  • 3 0
 damn!
  • 2 0
Choose a rut and stay between the mud.
  • 2 0
Thanks for the vid, Greg! Those tank-trap gaps look like bottomless pits!

Holy jack rabbit!! Wot a legend That gap that comes outta nowhere near the finish ! GM the GOAT
  • 1 0
This course will take some cardio as well, man I bet it was hard to pedal through that mud in the woods.
  • 1 0
1:40 - I know "we're talking about practice" (Allen Iverson voice) but can you move your bike outside the tape?
