Video Highlights: Andorra DH World Cup 2018

Vallnord's vertical course tested the nerve of the world's elite this weekend. The steepest track of the year had already claimed a number of big names by the time finals came around.

The steepest track of the season was creating huge gaps in the Elite Women's field, with a number falling victim to its unruly terrain. Italy's Eleonora Farina managed a long stint in the hotseat, pulling together a strong run that saw off competition from most of the top 10.

Tahnée Seagrave cranked out of the start hut with grit and determination. No doubt Rachel Atherton's incredible qualifying time (nearly 14 seconds faster than that of Seagrave's time) added pressure to deliver a fast and perfect run.

Starting outside the top 25 riders seemed to have a beneficial effect for Finn Iles in Vallnord. The Canadian hadn't yet put in a final run that matched his qualifying performances, but here the youngster took the bull by the horns to sit in the hotseat, with a scorching time that was faster than that of Luca Shaw’s winning qualifying time the day before.

Loris Vergier took to the track. Starting eighth-from-last, Vergier took some creative lines down the course compared to what'd previously been seen, remaining smooth throughout.

At each split he was making second upon second on Iles, and he came in at the finish a big 4.5 seconds faster than the Canadian. Like Bruni, Vergier was riding with a hand injury that he sustained in qualifying.

Pumped for Loris!! Crushed for Luca. So glad to see the sportsmaship out of both of them, the celebration for Loris from everyone, Laurie, Brook, etc. Damn this is a bad ass sport!!

Note to Rob and Claudio please dont talk about what happened in the women's race while commenting on the men's. When watching replays when I have limited time I will watch the men's first but do eventually watch the women's . Twice in the season now it's been spoiled. All good just a heads up love you guys work .

Don't complain when they are just doing the commentary job in the allotted time order. Plus they are giving info to those who want to know the results but don't want to watch. If you watch them in the right order, women first, you will get no spoilers (apart from the ones red bull might give with replay pics)

What a great season this is. It's a great time to be watching world cup DH. I hate the season where you are watching to see who comes in 2nd overall because Gwinn is already 3,000 points ahead.

Would love to hear this without the music, so I could hear more of the bikes

You mean whistles, cowbells, air-horns and vuvuzelas? Even when those annoying sounds are removed downhill doesn't sound great as bikes are pushed to their limits. Try putting some rocks in a blender for that real sound! Vital mtb has all the raw edits.
