Mik, was one of the few DH riders left that was racing when I first started following the sport. With Mik bowing out, I feel I'm getting older. Perhaps. I'm only 60. Mik was all heart. I'm glad I have a picture of he and I. Best of luck in all you do Sir Mik. You are a champion.

Last of those Aussie boys that dominated DH some years ago. Kovarik, Rennie, Hill, Graves and Sick Mick. What an achievement to be up there with the best for 20 years.

 Congratulations on a incredible career!
Such a positive influence on the mountain scene for so long.
Also, a big tip of the hat to Emilie. A staple in the women’s field that helped grow the women’s division to the competitive field it is today.

I was lucky enough to be one of the 1000s screaming for Mick on his last run. I will never forget it! Congrats Mick, the MTB world is a much better place because of your stamp on it! What a legend!

Congrats on a great career, and so much positive influence on the sport, Mick! So glad to have met you briefly at your pit tent last weekend, about an hour before the Saturday men's final. Got far enough down the mountain in time to watch you hit the triple jump in the final woods section, but unfortunately missed seeing your sui on the final jump and finish... but I certainly heard the fans' reaction! Also great to witness your tribute/send-off on the podium stage after awards! Good luck on your future plans!

What a bloke. What a racer. To have a top flight career in this sport for 20 years is something to celebrate. I hope he enjoys whatever he does next. I mean he's only 37, life is just beginning!

Yep, that made me shed a tear… actually a few. I got to work with Mick back in 2006-2008 and he was just such a great bloke. He had such focus on what he did and while being a man of few words he was always really insightful. He was honest, caring to those around him and will be missed to the sport. I am not sure if Mick will read these messages, but if so my wife Sarah wanted to pass on her best wishes to you and your family. She watched the video and noted what an awesome dad you seem to be. She also hopes you have good health cover as your kids may be a little more adventurous than some

And I don’t even wear contacts. What a fitting send of for a universally respected athlete.

WOW, just goes to show it isn't just a race, it's a way of life and career. I'm sure he has some stories to tell over 20 years in the business
