Video: Ion Introduces New Raid Select Shoes

Mar 15, 2019
by ION Surfing Trails

We all long for the feeling of a killer day on the trails, a detour and break.
We all crave the feeling of an early morning chasing the sun.
The feeling of a day you enjoy with your buddies and get stoked about the riding.
The feeling of bailing eight times and landing it once.
The feeling of a close call and tight turn.
We all chase the feeling of a perfect day surfing trails.
Feel the thrill.
Feel the force.
Feel the bike beneath you.
But you can’t have any of this, without control.
Control your ride.
Control your grip.
Feel. Control.

 marketing out of control.

This is literally a video I would create to make fun of mountain bike marketing. -signed professional marketing director

This is the type of marketing BS that TEAM ROBOT would annihilate

@Klainmeister: How to be mountain biker ???? video...
  • 3 0
@Klainmeister: from marketeers for joeys, perfect!
riding was good though
  • 3 0
Haha, I was thinking about Wade Simmon's infamous giant road gap recently. That was like ten seconds of riding, that spanned like ten years.

Everything with just one purpose: to you forget the Stealth rubber of FiveTen... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
  • 1 0
My favorite part is when the announcer says "Feel... Control." and the guys foot slips.
  • 44 1
Will they be available also on Xbox One?
  • 2 1
But will the people play fair or will they use the cheat codes and special tricks? me the cheat codes and special tricks please, that would be dope.
  • 1 0
I feel old; I don't know what kind of controller that is.
  • 31 1
With Five Ten being the benchmark for flats, a contender needs to come in and offer a good shoe for a lot less money. Offering something that may or may not be any good, and likely has a less-sticky sole for a ton of cash isn't going to bring a lot of people across the isle.
  • 14 0
Yeah, I can already see the PB review: "nice, well made, not as grippy as 5.10". Next please.
  • 10 0
I'd take less grip if the shoes lasted more then one season. Spending $150 on shoes every season is stupid.
  • 3 4
I bet if they had put a Velcro strap on it people would be more likely to try it.
  • 4 2
@jonnycrash: really? mine are going on close to five years now sadly ill have to replace them this year though.
  • 2 0
@jonnycrash: Just bought ELC from bikester for equivalent of $65 (incl. shipping). My freeriders lasted 3 seasons, but the sole has more holes than swiss cheese.
  • 4 0
@valour59: Yeah, I got some 5.10 impacts early last season. They were torn up by mid summer and I had to shoegoo them to get me through the year.
  • 1 0
@lkubica: Thanks, I'll check it out. Nice colors too.

@valour59: Bought mine in '13 or '14 and still going strong. Ride in them year round in Canada. The worst that's happened is the rubber separated from the shoe when drying by a fire. Added some glue and good to go. I would like a newer, lighter pair but will keep these till they die.

 Wtf with the game controller?
Just tell us why we should buy these rather than 5-10s
  • 5 0
Feel. Control. Confidence... that the video will mention being connected to earth when showing a rider on a frozen lake (of water)...
  • 10 1
Everyone hating on the ION ads these days but I have been riding the Raid Amp II for the past few months and they have been great. They are sticky, and dry really quick. That combination makes them a real solid contender. Don't knock them so quick!
  • 2 0
Thank, looking for new shoes right now
  • 5 0
Not hating the shoe, just the ad. Now all I hear in my head is a whisper.. C O N T R O L..
My bike or my mind?
  • 2 0
 @Beez177: True
  • 6 1
re-using two photos twice in the same add..
a poem about a shoe...
this is an advertising fail.
Did Playstation give you rights to use their controller in your ad,
and why are you using a play station controller in an ad about a bike shoe?
  • 4 0
They got rid of the playstation logo and the ▢ △ ◯ X so it's clearly not a ps controller. Duh.
  • 3 0
Things I can appreciate about them atheistically:

1. The don't look like a skate shoe
2. The toe box looks to have a pressed rubberized cap
  • 29 1
I'm confused... You wouldn't be able to appreciate those things if you were religious?
  • 3 0
@Trailsoup: lol whoops aesthetically, let the autocorrect win that battle
  • 5 0
They shouldn't show his shin, which has obvious marks of lost control...
  • 1 0
I don`t work for ION, but as a personal user of ION gear for few years now - knee and elbow pads + Raskal shoes - their equipments are damn good, confortable and solid. Nothing to do with some other brands I tried before. Good job!!! Danke

150£ for a flat shoe? Naa, your alright. Thats two sets of Fivetens! Plus, leather sucks if you ride in the wet a lot! My leather winter shoes shrunk, size 9 to size 8 in about 3 months
  • 2 0
I'm still a 510 buyer once every 18months, and I just deal with the price. If I could get the same grip and great sole in a narrower size 12 shoe, I'd buy it.
  • 4 0
If I could get a wider 12.5 instead of a 13 just so my toes don't go numb I'd buy it!
  • 3 1
 Ride Concepts dude. Theyre gooood.
  • 1 0
@santacruz-ing: You have no word because you have no profile picture.
  • 4 0
Lol. You do see the riders foot slip during the show close up on snow

I liked the control concept, but that control it's has a huge trigger with PS. So it's hard to detach that link.... or it's a super smart move that will make you think about those shoes when you play PS?!?!
  • 4 0
 Feel the rhythm,
Feel the rhyme.
Get on up,
It’s marketing time!
  • 2 0
I have been riding the new ION raid ll and honestly, it is what comes after five ten with waay better quality and better price. I really can´t argue with these shoes.
  • 3 0
give us pics of the shoes please.....
  • 3 0
1:38 for a demonstration how they slip for pedal to shin strikes
  • 3 0
Water... is the essence of moisture
  • 1 0
If you don't read the title you'd think this is a Commencal commercial. I feel like they showed the bike design and ability far better than the actual shoes.
  • 2 0
What's the difference between the two?
  • 2 1
oh a gaming shoes, does they coming with rgb and RTX support.
or they are for console peasants??
  • 1 0
I just hope they have shadowplay
  • 1 0
Its quite intelligent advertising, creating a video with a poem so cringe inducing that you cant not take note.
  • 2 0
No love for us clipless jabronies?
  • 9 0
No, you guys are out of control, apparently.
  • 1 0
i can see spd style binders for racing, but nothin beats the simplicity and feel of flats.
  • 2 0
Wow the BS marketing hype is of the charts in video!
  • 2 0
if you watch it with the sound off , mucho gusto!
  • 1 0
1:36 Not exactly advertising for ION knee pads. Should have sent him the shin guards, as well.
  • 2 0
 Sole durometer?
  • 2 0
 Will I feel the pain?
  • 1 0
Of course you will. You`re here for that, aren`t you? Smile
  • 1 0
Poetry and bike shoes. That's my jam.
  • 2 0
 feel deez nuts
  • 1 0
do they come dripping in cheese like the advert?
  • 1 0
The rider has shin rash... from a pedal slip?
  • 1 1
does anyone see a link to their website.... anywhere?
  • 1 1
