bigquotesGoPro from My 6th place World champs race run. Probably the craziest conditions I have ever raced. Snow out of the start gate and super sticky mud down the bottom.Jack Moir

He is so thoughtless, Jesse takes the time to clear the lens during his runs....

Definitely would have found a place on the motorway for it... Tear-off, GoPro wipe and a little breather before dropping into the gnarliest race section I've ever seen. I actually can't believe how hard that looked to ride.

@JesseMelamed: It's a testament to the insane talent & commitment of top-level racers, yourself included. There are a lot of Pinkbikers with some serious experience and skills that wouldn't have a prayer of staying upright on that course. It's a treat to watch for sure!

 What a noob!!

Was just thinking was amazing that could see whole run, surfs up?
  • 4 0
I was thinking the whole time, Jack pull a lense. Then I remembered its the go pro, not his vision. I'm an idiot.

I thought they couldn't record their race runs! Damn if only Reece had recorded his we might actually get to see how he was so fast

He really didn’t do much wrong on that run, amazing!
  • 3 0
He’s Scottish and his Mutha was a Mudder....

Ahh the sounds of axle deep mud. The audio adds so much to this video.

Imagine how gnarly it would have been concentrating in that lower wood section with 1000 people and chainsaws and cowbells.

Surfing that mud no problem for Jack!!
  • 24 0
 Melamed would’ve wiped the GoPro
  • 4 0
For sure; I like Jack not wiping it, it gives me a better virtual feeling of this run.

@bryndrew: His breathing was cranking right through some big runs - wonder what his pulse was doing? They make it look easy when they ride so smooth.
  • 2 0
 @BrettwBrett: Near max. about 170-180bpm

Jack is crushing it right now, he seems to be thriving under the Canyon banner. Good on him he deserves it.

This really does remind me of racing DH in Scotland in the late 90's. Hell, it reminds me of when I went back for an Inners race last June.
  • 4 0
Haha, glad someone else remembers the old-school Scottish mud wrestling, sorry, DH racing! Strathyre, anyone?

Managed to break my vintage Michelin Mud tyre riding Inners in the slop a few weeks back, gutted, that thing tracked like nothing else when things got slippery.

@bmbracing: I thought of Strathyre when I first watched the Vital videos from this week. Although Strathyre was flat compared to this.
  • 1 0
Mech in a box would work great in these conditions?
  • 1 0
@originalstraygoat: and the first glencoe sda, for sheer brutality
  • 1 0
@blackpudding: came away from that one with both forearms ruined with rock burn. Forgot how chunky that race was!
  • 1 0
@originalstraygoat: I lasted until the track pointed downwards, a massive hole had appeared in the middle of the track. Ouch. Riding the steep slick rock section injured and feeling sorry for myself was unpleasant.
Hilarious looking back
  • 7 0
 That was ridiculously impressive.
  • 2 0
@tomamitai yeah this one is Epic ! mud was everywhere in this run
  • 2 0
Jack has had a horrendous run of injuries going back years. One of the podcasts I listened to when he spoke was a heartbreaker. I think we are seeing what a healthy Jack Moir can do. I am sure the Covid break has been good for a few riders physical health. I hope everyone gets through these next few races because 2021 should be fantastic.

So you think this virus will just go away, for next year?
  • 5 2
The broadcast of the event looked like tough conditions, but seeing the rider's perspective is much more gnarly! That was slicker than goose poo on a wet board!
  • 4 0
I had to remind myself to breath while watching that.....those root sections, wow, mud, ruts, nasty, well done!!
  • 4 0
Great riding Jack, so glad to see you finish ahead of last years team mates. Good luck at Maribor!!
  • 1 0
 Gone surfing?
  • 4 0
That sounded so gross hahah. Nice work JM!
  • 4 0
Jack is on fire these days!!
  • 2 0
He made it look like a normal ride. Wow, that is some next level mud. I thought I'd hear him making balancing noises like Claudio does.
  • 4 0
Smooth lines, Jack. Like peanut butter smooth.
  • 1 0
Looked like RIDING in peanut butter..
  • 2 0
how did that camera stay clean for so long!?!?

great riding in impossible conditions
  • 2 0
Jumpin' Jack flash! What a mud bath! Those stumps look so scary wet. Way to go JM!
  • 3 0
Best thing about that is how quiet his bike is!
  • 2 0
brutal track to ride in these condition. for racing? that's another level!!! well done to all!
  • 2 0
Dude goes down that track in the wet faster than most of us could dream of doing it in the dry.
  • 3 0
the mud sounds like the alien face huggers hatching
  • 1 0
Who does not like Jack Moir. And the fact that he is getting solid results this season in EWS and DH. Glad Canyon picked him up. YYYEEEAAAAHHHHHH!
  • 1 0
He picked some good lines there. Similar to Wallace's run, he didn't put a foot wrong. Reece must have carried a lot of speed thru some of the deeper mud.
  • 1 0
Well...now I know what it sounds like ride a bike through melted ice cream that's running down a mountain ie. both amazing and horrendous
  • 2 0
Well played staying upright. You can hear the mud slowing him down.
  • 2 0
Wow, what a mess! Some of those gaps were scary consequences.
  • 1 0
So cool. The mud balls flying everywhere. Hard to believe that there was people going down that. Glad Jack made er down!
  • 2 0
Daaamn what a squishy run. Good tunnel of vision the whole way though!
  • 2 0
Thats muddy woods section is what nightmares are made of. Good work Jack!
  • 1 0
Sometimes, rarely, I'm glad I'm not a pro DH rider. Watching this is one of those times
  • 1 0
That extra muddy section with the Muc-Off ads on the side of the trail was perfect.
  • 1 0
Wow, what a run. I can't imagine going down that in those conditions let alone in the dry.
  • 2 0
 Greasy
  • 1 0
Unreal. So stoke for Jack! Earned it!!
  • 1 0
Finally, some pros riding at my general pace through the woods!!
  • 1 0
 macaroni in a pot
  • 1 0
 Sloppy mess!
  • 1 0
 Eeeeeeee bwooooy
  • 1 4
I wonder if that makes him think twice about the switch to enduro...
  • 15 0
Why? So far his lowest placing in EWS and DH this season is this race in 6th. Sounds like he can kill it in both disciples.

Also, and I may be wrong, but his "Switch" to enduro i think had more to do with his Cannondale deal falling apart when they cancelled their team last minute and Canyon swooping in to save his year but already having a pretty eaten up DH budget between the Factory team and the Seagrave's. Had there been a full season of both he likely would have raced half the DH season and the full EWS.
  • 6 0
I don't know 4th, 3rd and 3rd is not to bad of start,.
  • 6 0
 He's killing EWS
  • 3 0
@mfoga: okay my bad, I knew he was doing well but not THAT well. Talented dude
