Post Office has been a very special place to a lot of people. In 2008 I visited Aptos, and rode Post Office for the first time. I was very timid, sketchy, and amazed. Within a year, I had packed up my truck and moved to Santa Cruz, where I've lived on and off since. I can confidently say that most of my bike control was learned in those few acres. I've met lifelong friends and picked up most of my digging techniques from watching the loc boys throw the best dirt that jumps have ever been made of. I've broken bones, bikes, and bread there. Those jumps will always have a very special spot in my memory.

With the impending demolition, I knew it was finally down to the wire, and my time was limited to try things I had always thought of. It's funny how easy it is to take something for granted and not see if for its full potential when it's right in front of you every day.

I had never filmed a full Post Office video before, I wanted to keep it simple and rad. So, here's some good old Post riding. Enjoy.

What a bullshit reason to destroy such a nice set of dirt jumps

They are building a grocery store, condominiums, and more stores, and yes a parking lot. Currently there is a re-location effort for the jumps and the dirt, head over to mbosc.org. I'm sad to see it go, but happy to have learned the history; the jumps were built on private land, and the owner rented the lot to the city for just a buck a year with the plan that it was to be developed.

Good to know these things i had always seen mad videos from there, bug never knew there was so much history until you had mentioned it. Hard to rebuild memories tho, easy to build a dirt jump; )

this would be a perfect place for all the bike cos that make millions off of highly over priced bikes to give back to the community that they make their stacks off of...but again...where the heck are they?

These jumps are world famous and we need your help to have them relocated! Please go to www.postofficejumps.org/showsupport to sign a petition to have land dedicated to dirt jumps, pump tracks etc.

Actually the reason for their demolition is for an apartment complex. I recently went to the last jump jam with all the pros and people who built it. These jumps were everything to a lot of people and I will soon be posting photos of the final jump jam. Let get these rebuilt as soon as possible.

@yetiman123, I too was at the last jump jam. I googled it and found the building submission plans for the land, yes homes are to be built; town homes, condominiums, and apartments for a total of 63 housing units(www.sccoplanning.com/Portals/2/County/Planning/env/Aptos_Village_Plan.pdf page 62). Also 75,000 sq ft of commercial space, New Leaf plans on being the main attraction signing on to take the Apple Barn ( patch.com/california/capitola/new-leaf-secures-aptos-village-location).

Great Video, the Old skool, to hipped Flip to Toboggan is so dope.

So what's next for the Post office crew? Are there plans for a new set? It feels like that place and given birth to and inspired so many of our 'now' riding icons of today. - Who have then gone on to inspire so many riders world wide, to get out, ride and push themselves to a higher level, and keep on evolving this brilliant life on bikes.

Here's to hoping it continues in a new place. Cheers Jeff, Alex and Pivot Bikes for a great video.

Peace out!

So sad, such an icon of our sport...those lines have been packed in so well it sounds more like riding wood than dirt...

Awesome video. Jeff is such a sick rider and his homage to this great place shows what gets lost, when it's demolished. Hope the guys find a new spot somewhere close.
