(Mine always verges on too bitter so need tips!)

 @slimboyjim: Don't press it all the way to the bottom. Leave a small gap between the plunger and the ground-cake, it helps keep the last bitter bits in the grounds.

 @slimboyjim: inverted technique bro. Grounds first. Pour hot water over. Screw on lid (with filter... Key part in this evolution) flip over. Press immediately. As stated above, don't make a hockey puck with the grounds.
