5010 is such good marketing. People perceive it as this amazing fun bike that's capable of doing all these jibs even to the extent the new release is based around what Evans and Lewis can do. But lets face it these boys could do this stuff on any bike.
Theyve built a legend for the bike for the public to buy into if they dont want to associate with the mainstream enduroification of mountain biking.
I think its cynically and subtly very clever. But also should send a message that so many people are bored of new standards, new wheel sizes, 29 is faster etc etc a lot of people aren"t racers and just ride their bikes in the woods for fun with their mates. So they built a 6 grand bike in carbon so you can buy into that !

Lets be honest, a 140/130 bike is going to be plenty capable for most weekend warrior riders. I think this is the right type (or a 29er version like the Tallboy) of bike for most riders unless they have a specific preference otherwise.

We don't ride new standards because we are bored, we don't ride them because they suck for doing the stuff we do. The old 5010 is going to be dirt cheap. I also don't know if you ever ridden one. They are supposed to feel like an overgrown dirt jumper which is what they do. Tricks are damn near impossible on a 29er with 500mm reach

I could only afford that finger bike.

The bike industry killed slopestyle bikes but is now trying to bring them back as 27.5 carbon trail bikes so they can charge 7 grand haha. I bet the bars can't even spin around on a stock model.

The definition of having fun on a bike, fav dudes to watch

I would really love to see some detailed bike checks on these guys' bikes. There's definitely some weird stuff going on and I am super into it.

Have a look on their instagram pages. Think they all run DJ saddles with no dropper post. Also Dan paley runs just the rear brake and single speed by the looks. So they're a cross of slopestyle and enduro bikes really... slopeduro?

@duckcrisps: actually 7 speed, but the no front brake is interesting. Id be skidding everywhere trying to stop.

I'd love a trail bike with one of those hydro gyros though to do stuff like Dan though, love doing bar spins. I just don't want to upkeep that gyro, I've read they require a ton of maintenance.

Mad skills and creativity. Nice work lads! You inspire me to get stupid on the bike but my age and lack of skills keeps the rubber side down. Love these vids!!

They would be faster on 29ers...
  • 17 4
 and having way less fun..
  • 3 1
 @ad15: Exactly!
  • 4 4
They wouldn't be doing tricks on 29ers
  • 1 0
@DaFreerider44: with the skills they have, there would still be tricks... Maybe not all the same tricks, but they would still blow our minds...
  • 2 1
@DaFreerider44: when they ride their Hightower’s they do crazy tricks too
  • 3 1
@roadrunner1212: I don't think you know how difficult it is to 180 and fakie a 29er. TBH they probably switched wheels out for 27.5 to make it easier to jib and have 150 mm of travel, because that is what I'd do if I owned a hightower.

@DaFreerider44: that's what the Bronson basically is...
