Was expecting a backflip over a bunch of roadies.

That's actually cooler than another roadie backflip!

Wow! Impressive riding and cinematography. And very a impressive drone pilot. Honest question: were some of the drone shots (where there wasn't the rider in view) speed up? I mean I know there are fast drones, put some of those seem crazy fast.
  • 6 1
Nah. The edits were just on point. I have a pretty cheap and standard filming quad that will easily do 130kph. My friends have rigs that will go much faster with a camera. Flight time is extremely low at high speeds but nothing I saw is consistent with sped up footage. Of course some of it may have been filmed with a fixed wing plane style drone. My cheap wing will do 160kph for a hour or 60kph for many hours. I need to fly it chasing some friends downhill sometime actually.
  • 1 0
@Afterschoolsports: tell me more about these fast cheap wings. Seems a lot of fun!
  • 2 0
@Caiokv: you want to start off with an ar wing $75usd or $150ish all up. Then once you're comfortable building and flying wings get yourself a mini drak for a couple of hundred. Most of the electronics will just swap straight over.

Check out some of the long range fpv groups on fb for guidance. It's addictive and has a bit of a learning curve but is lots of fun.
  • 3 0
@Caiokv: this might sound stupid, but make sure you check the laws for RC aircraft here in Canada. They've tightened down in the last couple years.
  • 2 0
@bearik: 100%. Always fly legally. Local rc groups on fb and reddit are good to join. If only for scoring cheap aircraft or bits.
  • 1 0
@Afterschoolsports: yes always best to join a club.

The drone work was legit af

But e bikes are for fat and lazy people...you can't shred on an ebike. All the idiots in the comments on pinkbike said so.

He's a professional rider paid to promote ebikes.

Cinematography and riding were impressive. I'm in a conflict now because I don't like Pedelecs. Can I still like the edit?
  • 13 2
@jayacheess: you're probably right. He doesn't look like he was enjoying it at all. I'm sure they're just trying to trick us into buying more products, like the industry did with suspension, disc brakes, dropper posts, boost and thru axle hubs, and 29 inch wheels. That dang anti mtb cabal trying to ruin the world.

@Duderz7: Everyone enjoys a free bike, yes.
  • 8 2
@jayacheess: Its a deep dark conspiracy to force people to buy bikes. All those pros who look like they're having a blast are secretly crying inside.
  • 4 4
@slayerdegnar: Dude, of course it's a conspiracy to get people to buy bikes. This is an industry designed around marketing and selling products to people. This entire website is run on advertisement.

The key is whether you're sold on a over-expensive piece of kit that you don't necessarily need to enjoy riding bikes.
  • 7 1
@jayacheess: So how are you going on your 26" Huffy with canti brakes there? ;-)
  • 3 0
@jayacheess: doesn't sound like you would? You seem above all that.
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: His riding was Kilianning It!!
  • 9 0
Wow, I didn't even notice he was on a eBike. Actually, the scenery was so nice I hardly noticed the riding.
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: And this has what do do with Duderz comment? Or is this just your rendition of a holiday dinner table drunk uncle random blurt?
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: Hmm, I guess the word “conspiracy” means something different in Canadian? :-/
  • 1 1
Man, the ebike crusaders have finally taken over pinkbike, eh? 2020, am I right?
  • 2 1
@jayacheess: Kind of a weird lens you see things through. I certainly see a lot of E-Bike irrational haters being exclusionary tribal dummies. And I see some Ebike havers that simply explain how dang fun they are and still a massive workout. Ratio is so skewed towards haters it's actually a running joke here. The really weird thing is, when did mountain bikers become the skiers of the 1980's? Those clowns who hated on snowboarding, and are now looked back on as comical idiots, only good to be laughed at and ridiculed. You do realize they be your peoples, right? Maybe you're just too young to remember the 80's and 90's were also the MTB/Hiker wars. MTB was hated by everyone, banned everywhere they could, and it took years of hard work, advocacy, lobbying, policy making, and funding to make it what it is today. Really wish the haters could be forced to go back in time and live out a riding season in, say '89. Come back humbled and embarrassed for being such asshats. One can fantasize!
  • 4 2
@Chuckolicious: My friend, I'm not anti-ebike. I'm just surprised and amused that people think the industry is responding to a ground-swell of ebike demand, rather than the industry trying hard to market them to people. There is a demand, but the overarching narrative in these articles and videos is driven by dollar signs, not by altruistic product suppliers.

Put another way: remember when knife and vacuum salesmen used to show up at your door? This is about selling a consumer on a thing that they 'didn't know they needed'. Yes, there are some people who genuinely NEED an ebike to enjoy the sport, but the industry definitely sees a place to market them hard at everyone.
  • 3 1
@jayacheess: Congrats Capt. Obvious, companies and industries trying to sell their wares, perish the thought! Of course, basic market forces might be something you might just want to take a moment to brush up on. Also, maybe check that victim mentality at the door, nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head. If you're such a simple minded rube that a silly product video will compel you to go out and spend $5k+ on a new Ebike that you "didn't know you needed", then that's just Darwinism at work. My god, man, get a grip!
  • 4 1
For those of you new to this thread, here's a summary:

@jayachees: This is an advertisement intended to create and target a market that didn't previously exist.

@Chuckolicious: Reading comprehension is hard.
  • 1 2
@Chuckolicious: Jesus, you're something else. I'd tell you to get a grip as well, but I don't think it'll help.
  • 2 0
@SinglespeedAssassin: Love it! The irony is intense, and I’m sure you ain’t got the slightest clue why. But love it none the less! :-D
  • 1 2
@Chuckolicious: Hmm, I guess the word “irony” means something different in American? :-/
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: when people stop buying vacuums and knives door to door it can mean only one thing - goodbye recession, hello depression!
  • 18 0
Didn't realize it was even an ebike until i scrolled to the comments haha....I think that's probably a testament to the rider/filming.

Edits like this make me want one for big mountain days...wish I actually had big mountains to use one on though.

Guess I'll keep pedalling my normal bike up our small socal hills.
  • 18 0
Great trails, amazing scenery and a rider out of this world. The rhythm and the music are excellent too. However, I wish I had a list of all these trails. I totally want to go over the pond and shred them.
  • 10 1
I say this should be labeled as Must Watch. Vive la France!
  • 1 0
 You are right.
So, call for replies: People who know the trails, please locate on maps (besides the obvious landmarks).
Thanks a million !
  • 1 0
@Coyotecrash: The fact is that some of the "trails" are just pedestrian paths or "closed to bikes" areas.. But some of them are already on Trailfork, I just don't know how to add a "seen in the Kilian video's" mark haha

 Holyyyy Edit!
This is (again) a mind blowing 3.40mn
Killian the content you make for Commecal is the best content they can ask for
Massive props to Killian and Team!

Incredible video. Drone footage is definitely next level for action sports videos. However, how many drone lives were lost making the video?

No disrespect to the camera man/woman who stands in all sorts of conditions to bring us great videos but damn drones are making cinematic Hollywood looking shit!!! Felt like I was on a roller coaster!!
  • 3 0
Nice video but the tour has been epic this year. Normally a precession around France most days but this year the younger riders have lit it up. Every day has been a real race, best tour ever possibly.
  • 4 0
Excellent!! Really makes me want to visit Europe once this pandemic is over.
  • 4 0
I want to go to France. I want a best friend with a drone. I want a Commencal!

Riding backward while probably looking up Google map on his phone to find Chambord... Fantastic video from Commencal, as usual.
  • 1 0
I thought "Le Tour" has something to do with bicycles.. not with commercal for heli the everest.. It is sad an weird what's going on. And you E-trolls, stop compare it with "the war" of skie&board, Hike&Bike, Wheelsizes, etc.. It is simply damn stupid and you know this! Lazy consume human beeing, get start your brain working.

Man...what an incredible video. So well done at every level. That's a sweet moped too.
  • 1 0
Aww, slipping in the dopey moped slur. Hey man, you live in PDX, right? My buddy is one of the original designers and builders of Black Rock. Nowadays laps the place on a Kenevo. Rides all the big features like they a green run, even lays claim to doing the now closed off super insane ones back in the day. Would you like a connect so he can show you a few tricks, and also explain why your slur is just so dopey?
