 Great race and congrats to A.P. Seeing 3 USA riders in the top ten overall is awesome, and that is with a few crashes. Going to be an epic finish.

 Video is crap. Constat zooming, shaky cam and crap like that.

 @TheDude88: Completely agree. Coverage may be good but the highlights video is unwatchable. I'm not normally a negative Nelly but that was one of the worst I can remember on PB.

 Yeah man. I agree. I think that there has to be discretion applied. The rules are there to stop people trying to gain an advantage, that wasn't the case at all. She lost time as a result. Robbing her of all her points is criminal when she's worked so hard and made a mistake due to wind at ridiculously high speed. It's only because of skill and strength that she didn't crash.

 i agree, that rule needs to change. it isn't like she skipped an entire technical section. where do you draw the line?

 she agreed to set rules, maybe there is need to change them but it she was treated fair

 They should do a colour coded taping system: Red in tech/inside corners=DQ, White everywhere else= time penalty.

 That's how it goes, I remember Peaty was about to win and got dq'd for just a few inch off track.

 @upchuckyeager: I don't think most people intend to go off course, wind or otherwise

 Perhaps they should apply sailing rules - she has to do a 360 before she crosses the line. Or, a compulsory pit stop like in Formula One - her mechanic has to come out and change her wheels.

 Disappointing for Tahnee, but I think it is best to not have any other "expert" judge how bad her crossing the tape was. Athletes just need to be certain of what is going to happen. If you go outside the tape, is it worth it to scramble back up to enter the course where you left it, or did you already lose enough time and is it ok to enter where you are now? What is a "tech section"? What if that simple corner becomes heavily rutted and slippery?

It is disappointing yes. But so is a puncture or an unfortunate crash that may also leave you without points.

 Not enough rounds for this type of punishment. Only if an advantage is gained should there be penalty time added...this will stop others from doing it on purpose...END OF STORY!!!! UCI sucks balls...awesome season they're trying to ruin!

 Finally getting the exposure it has so long deserved!

 That's the same for almost any race of this kind (e.g. alpine skiing). The starting intervals are just too narrow to offer any sort of replay / analysis / post talk without cutting most of the next guys run. In this race there were 62 guys starting, first ones have 1min interval, top 15 have 2-3.5mins intervals (nicely written down in the starting list). If you give everyone 3.5mins the men's race alone takes 4h, which is not exactly great either.

(and even with 3.5min intervals you still don't get to see the complete run due to shots from the finish line, etc..).

Honestly, this race was covered in a damn good way.

 Looks like a really awesome team full of energy and they are on the roll for sure...

 It was a few weeks ago, he's got photos on his Instagram. It was as a result of his crash at losinj.

 Hope he's okay!! He's supposed to build a pumptrack in my city soon!

 @raddog: He was in South Africa and started getting headaches. When he returned home he went to hospital to get it checked out and within half an hour of being seen by the consultant was having holes drilled in his skull!!

A lucky escape and everything is ok now!! Beware of the delayed effects of concussion......

 if you watch the redbull feed you'll notice his head is shaved and there are some surgical scars on the side of his head.

 The holes were put in to decrease wind resistance. Should be blazing by the next round.

 Agreed. That book is an excellent read. Oct. 21st 1976. DH as a sport is born on repack hill!

 Thanks for the mention of my book. I had the greatest bicycle adventure of the 20th Century. On October 21, 1976 about a half dozen of us gathered at the top of Repack to settle for all time who was the best downhiller, on frankenbikes cobbled together from 40 year old Schwinns.. Didn't settle anything, it just started something. The evolution of the bikes and the skill set is the most amazing thing that has transpired in my lifetime.
