Video: Making the Most of 2019 with Martin Maes in the Season Finale of 'Spoke Tales'

by GT Bicycles

After a dominant start to 2019, Martin Maes’ race season came to an abrupt halt with an unexpected 90-day suspension. Not one to be stopped by adversity, Martin channeled his frustration and energy into downhill racing, his return to the top of the EWS podium and took some much needed time to have fun with old friends.

This is the story of how Martin Maes made the most of and still came out on top of his 2019 season.

Martin didn't get the results he was hoping for in Mont-Sainte-Anne but his custom Fury was looking dialed!

Can someone explain why Maes's suspension was shorter than Rudes, but Rude came back and seemed to be at the top so fast? I mean I assume Rude just started winning everything, BUT Maes was winning everything before his suspension...?

Anyway, just wondering.

In my opinion, totally different situations. Maes had a much more legitimate reason because of a pretty serious medical injury. From the series of events, I am surprised he got suspended.

@tacklingdummy: Just that is seems like Rudes suspension was way longer. So I don't get how Maes had a shorter suspension but then Rude was ahead in points?

Was it just that Rude spent his suspension time in the "off season" VS Maes had his suspension during the season so he got screwed? Cause that's not fair...

@stiingya: Most of Rudes suspension was during the off season due to it coming from previous year, and points were taken from that season. so he only missed the first couple rounds and kept all points moving forward after suspension.
Maes suspension started just after the start of the season, and actually took away points that he had earned during the start of the season while testing positive.

@H3RESQ: thank you for the explanation. Kinda still seems janky, NO racing for you! But during the off season when there aren't any races for u to miss... You'd think a racing suspension would only count when there are races going on. Everybody is suspended in the off season! Smile
