Pretty interesting to hear Neko's thoughts about riding with pegged aerobic levels. As a former XC guy, I don't think enough credit is given to WC DH racers. The same reason riding downhill in XC can be tough when 'the lights go dim' with a maxed heart rate, certainly applies to DH racing too.

Super interesting peek into the training of top level riders. Would be cool to see/read more. Find way more value from this kind of stuff than the hardware they ride and better represents what elite athletes are capable of.

Very enlightening and candid peek, thanks for this. Will use some of this advice for sure

I like the idea of pumptrack intervals, going to definetly give that a try maybe even today.

Pretty surprised I didn't recognize the trail. Anybody know?
(Jun 25, 2020 at 4:19)
I thought it was bracken at first but it’s not. Looked a little like rocky ridge at the bottom.

: I’m not sure. But as far as I know, Neko, Shaw bros, and Dak have been building on some private land with permission. I was assuming it was there, as I only recognized the Riveter. I gather my information from comments on YouTube, Instagram, and pure speculation. For all I know it could be a trail deep in the Pisgah I have never ridden.

Thinking private as well. Not Rocky Ridge. I've never found a flow trail like that deep in Pisgah (love Pisgah, that just ain't what Pisgah proper is about). Just wanted to make 100% sure I'm not missing something.

The pavillion at the top on his first trail run would be the giveaway... but it doesn't look familiar to me either.

Looks like they are working on a bike park south of Hendersonville:

Where's @graywing34 to say forth to comment?

Hope Neko can get some good results this/next year, looks like he's off the pace and struggling to ride like he used to.

If that's all he is doing on a Saturday is 4 x 3 minutes then he should get a new trainer. No reason he can't recover and do more on that day. Do alot more....

That's just one session, which is part of a structured plan, appropriate for his current fitness and time away from his target peak time. If his volume is too high for one session he'll need longer to recover for the next one, or won't get as much out of the next session. If he peaks too soon he'll be cooked by the time the World Cups come around. Train smarter not harder.
