 Quite long "fire road" sections.

Enduro on downhill bikes. I'd rather a 3 minute DH course than 6 minutes of this.

Trestle DH is a legit track. Odd that they connected the bottom half tho. Check out the Vital MTB raw for some great shots of the gnar sections.

yea keep couch surfing....ive rode with neko and he is a beast......im sure ur faster though right ???

This video does NOTHING for how gnarly Trestle DH is. Even the bottom part looks smooth and its not.

@slayerdegnar: I'm from the east coast. This shit's a cake walk.

 @chriskneeland:you sound like a douchebag
  • + 1
 Hahahhahahhahahahha

@slayerdegnar: sorry homes. I wanted to reply to Don23
  • + 14
Yawn..... sorry WP I love ya, but I wish the powers that be would let you cut a raw new track for the race. If Colorado is going to run Nationals down existing bike park trails I wish Keystone would have been up for it.

Yawn...another person on Pinkbike complaining. I've been here all week shooting photos and talking to riders, and the overall response has been super positive. The new fresh cut off camber sections are mint, and from what the top guys are saying its made the track legit. Maybe see it in person before complaining, better yet, you should be here racing for a top spot if the course is so lame...

 @Bermsmasher: zinggggggggggg
  • + 7
@Bermsmasher: " better yet, you should be here racing for a top spot if the course is so lame..."

well put.
  • + 2
@Bermsmasher: while the upper and technical parts are proper, I do think
  • + 1
The flat sections are bit much, but that's just how bike parks are, so couldn't really ask more for the size of the event.
  • + 7
Literally your first and only comment on PB is to whine about content. Bang up. Great job lad.
  • + 7
@Bermsmasher: I live close and have ridden WP plenty (minus the fresh corners) and just wish they would have cut a fresh wide course giving our best the opportunity to be creative and have options (constructive feedback). I'm making a tired argument I know. I by no means was commenting on the race, racers, or my ability to compete against them...but was taking a dig and giving props to Keystone's techy trails (complaining I suppose). The racers will make the race exciting whether it's a narrow or wide track.
  • + 7
@sherbet: thanks sherbert, I thought I did pretty good
  • + 2
@yourbuddyjc: They had to build the xc course and maintain the enduro trails that weren't ridden much by the rest of the population with a crew of five or so. It's pretty difficult to build a trail top to bottom when you don't have the manpower. Most of the new trails up there take a season to build by themselves.
  • + 6
@Bermsmasher: I ride there most weekends. The dude is right. It needs a new DH trail worthy of racing.
  • + 6
@yourbuddyjc: While Keystone is a bit more techy....they haven't really done much in updates/new trails in years with maybe a bit of excretion for the enduro race a few years back. WP has at least opened new trails and has a plan for more. Keystone's issue....it's Vail. They don't give two sh*ts about MTB, with maybe the exception of Whistler because they have to. I live here and ride both on a regular basis.
  • + 1
@lbutler: But those 5 built an xc course? Just tape the outside edges of Hughes all the way down, build like three berms somewhere in the middle, set the racers loose....done! I kid I kid.
  • + 5
This track is probably the result of 3 things.
It's on National Forest land so any new trail requires planning and permitting.
Trestle has a flat spot on the mountain towards the bottom, in order to have a finish line in the village you have to go through it. Local races often finish further up the mountain at the end of Witness.
Trestle has hardly any technical trails and don't seem interested in building more Frown

@sherbet: at some point a guys got to vent, especially if it’s a ding on his home. Can you understand that? If not, I don’t really care, as you mention it’s my first and only comment. I ride bikes and take photos of the sport I love....not whining, just stating truth.
  • + 8
@Bermsmasher: You can't really write off someone's opinion. "You can't say F1 racing is boring, you should be racing the car before you complain"

If it looks boring as a spectacle, it looks boring as a spectacle. Regardless of what it is in reality. The video was created to show the track, if it fails to do that in an exciting way, who's fault is it really?
  • + 2
@bman33: sad to see keystone die a slow death at the hands of fail resorts. It will always be Colorado’s og bike park and where many of us fell in love with DH mtn biking
  • - 1
@yourbuddyjc: Post your strava or trailforks GPS from the last time you rode at either resort.

Had a chance to ride the course last week with a friend who was racing. The dead spot in the middle of the course was for sure a pedaly and but the rest of it I thought was pretty awesome. I ride here all the time and was real stoked on the new cut offs on Trestle DH towards the top. I don't think the video did any justice to the speed through some of those sections. I don't understand all the hate? I thought Trestle did a great job hosting the national races while also keeping the majority of the park open to the public.
  • + 1
They did a great job and I’m proud trestle hosted an event of this scale!
  • + 4
Not taking a dig at all, but I'm curious if an enduro bike wouldn't have been a faster option for the pros? Not all DH courses are/need to be tech, sometimes racing an easier trail fast is more difficult than a difficult trail slower.
  • + 2
Jill won on one. Beats me for the guys, it was a hard pedal and lots of quick cranks out of corners.
  • + 6
Really cool use of fresh cut sections to skip slower and flatter sections of Trestle! Nice work trail crew and event organizers.
  • + 3
Looks pretty darn fun to me. At least the fireroad sections look fast and the track is nice and long.
  • + 1
Did no one see the guy in front of him get magically vaporized toward the end?! That's too powerful of technology to give to downhillers! Everyone knows we aren't responsible enough!
  • + 4
I got tired just watching that.
  • + 2
 CHARGING!

...and man, I could do with one of those badass vaporizer rays Neko has hidden on his bars! u see that rider just disappear at 4:40?! Invaluable!!!
  • + 1
Of all the places in CO they could have held nationals they chose the absolute worst. WP is not a DH resort at all, kind of a joke.
  • + 1
i rode there a lot when i lived there. fun for flowy stuff and high speed jumps BUT i think they should have chose or built a better trail system. Trestle is NOTHING like the east coast techy stuff. hell, snowshoe got a brand new track for the WolrdCup hahah
  • + 4
 Whoops! I fell asleep.
  • - 2
 Cool story bro
  • + 2
Kind of a ho hum course, but we will see who is fit. The bottom of my feet are sore just watching that.
  • + 3
 geeeez thats a long run!!
  • + 1
Whats up with the bike park rider on the trail @ 4:38? Other than that I've ridden this trail a million times, never as fast and easy as these guys make it look!
  • + 2
why that 50 miles of nothing at the end???
  • + 1
That's just the way bike parks are
  • + 2
looks like a real fun and fast track.
  • + 1
Anyone saying this is an enduro track please try riding your enduro bike on the Trestle DH trail, let me know how it goes.
  • + 2
To be fair I have ridden it on my 140 travel Trek Remedy albeit no where near as fast as on my DH bike. A well setup enduro rig will do perfectly fine out there...BUT, I'd still consider it a proper DH course especially with the new cuts and corners.
  • + 1
WTF 6 minutes on a coarse, its even too knarly much for me to watch. Hats off to the cowboys and Girls riding this monster.
  • + 2
Heavy dude on 29’s will win because of fire road length
  • + 1
 LOL
  • + 0
Pretty lame for a nationals course. I've ridden this on an enduro bike loads of times and its decently pedally
  • + 1
 First half was great.
